- A storm has erupted after the outgoing CEO of Eskom gave a no holds barred interview on eNCA. De Ruyter said there was evidence suggesting that ANC members are planning to siphon off money from an 8.5 billion US dollar climate-finance deal offered by wealthy nations to help South Africa move to cleaner energy as part of a so-called just transition.
When asked if Eskom was the feeding trough for the ANC he replied I would say the evidence suggests that it is. Just a day later Eskom announced that de Ruyer who resigned early would be leaving with immediate effect - over a month early. Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordhan has slammed De Ruyter for meddling in politics instead of focusing on ending load-shedding.
Meanwhile, former member of the African National Congress and MKMVA spokesperson, Carl Niehaus has officially launched an organisation called the African Radical Economic Transformation Alliance.
