This is a long response and i apologise, but it is not a vicious counter-attack with intent to delegitimise your beliefs, ideologies and life experiences as an Australian.

You are not my enemy. And I am not yours.
Sometimes I feel that responses that comments of a shorter, negative nature, that involve numerous ,rapid fire debate are somewhat favoured for said interaction as one if many tools of greater ad revenue.
Yet my sentimental endeavour for the mundane harmony of our nation, well, it lacks the outrage and irrational response that such division otherwise generates in wealth, power and influence….
Quick answer that won't bore 99% of people away from reading. @SliochdnahEireann . Being on the right side of history does not make you immune to the wrong side of the g_n.

What a disgrace! We have enemies within.
You literally don’t have to look far.. just go to the local park or cemetery.
@zacharydrahm825 I have not seen many vandalised monuments.

so sad that people destroy historical artefacts in protest, people are unable to consider things in the context of their time
The context of their time being colonisation
What is the context ? How would you describe it?
@TattyboJangles100 your crown orders you to sail across the world and establish a prison colony, you survive and are completely isolated with no means of communication, the context is essentially this: at the time those men would not have seen themselves as invading, they were a few on an extensive continent that they couldn't even imagine, all unexplored and unknown. even if they knew the indigenous were present they can't just pack up and go home, this was their mission, their livelihoods. We can also see it from the aboriginal perspective. They originally thought it was divine reckoning, and they hid in the bushes overlooking Sydney Harbour watching in fear as what they thought were possums scurried up and down the masts of those ships. in the early days battle between indigenous and British was common and fierce, one convict who grew up at the time stated no white dared go outside after dark for fear of being killed by the blacks. meanwhile the Brits were no better, pushing the indigenous further and further from their traditional lands, even though some authority figures tried to repair Relations it was ultimately in vain when disease ravaged the remaining Sydney tribes. Making one man the scapegoat for everything is ridiculous, but it shows we need to change the date because we all should be happy and united on Australia Day, we can use Cooks Landing as a day for reflection
Yes, the statue is merely an effigy which evokes our history & nothing else - it is the vandalism that is downright wrong.
@@gmponzaWhat arrogant entitlement! Just because a country has a system that forced people to steal a loaf of bread and so become a criminal, it does not give that country the right to ship loads of its citizens and dump them in another country.
Further, when the English first came here, at least they could have been respectful of those who lived and cared for this land. Their behaviour was BARBARIC!
And these invaders STILL are in denial about the damage done! Where is humanity?
How would they like it someone defaced their rock art or their statues
Or 🕌🕌it would never happen 🤌🤌🖕
that is no.issue..in the wild they can defecate anywhere..in the bush..behind the rock.. etc
Their rock art isn't a representation of genocide - come on, you know it's not the same
@@TattyboJangles100actually it is when it comes to the fact that Aboriginal peoples genocided many species when they arrived in Australia, along with burning down natural habitats that have been in Australia since the dinosaurs age all for the purpose of hunting. So the arrival of aboriginals did more damage to this country than the Europeans ever brought along. In fact the Wollemi Pine stands as testament to how Europeans have attempted to preserve Australian history well beyond even human settlement. Because Australian history did just begin with aboriginals it was happening long before that.
@@TattyboJangles100 the statues represent our history and they are destroying it so destroying rock art would be destroying their history and you use the term genocide very loosely.
There's only one Australian flag: 🇦🇺

Lol, with your English masters flag dominating it.
Honestly, let go of the apron strings - or do you simply enjoy being ruled?
We are dealing with a sub-set of humans, changing the date...wont make one scrap of difference.

A flag I’m not proud of at the moment. A flag that brought me disrespect while I was travelling overseas- because of our treatment of our Indigenous peoples. 😥
@ Name me another country where a foreign power conquered it and yet the indigenous peoples still have a voice today..
@@TheAussieBobDogSo????
@@dimitrabouzalas3090 so explain what this ‘treatment’ is you spoke of that is disappointing you so much.. is it the job quotas? Cheap housing loans? Employment pathways? Free education? Being allowed to protest Australia Day without repercussions? Or is it the 5 BILLION dollars the government spent only just last year on Indigenous Australians? I don’t know any other indigenous peoples in any country that get treated so well.

It’s very sad - these statues are works of art or part of history.
Yeah OK I don't like it in any form , but he never lived here and he wasn't the first person to be here from the world, Dirk Harttog for example. If you are Australian you will know who he is.
So. What's that got to do with anything? He was the Explorer who came and went back to England with news of land to settle. Without him, we wouldn't have ended up the country we are. Maybe we'd have been Dutch, or French or Chinese but we are not. We were colonies of the British Empire. Obviously some people don't like that but that doesn't mean you can destroy a statue you dislike. It only does the opposite of what they intend. If it's changing the date they want then they are going the wrong way about bringing people over to their cause other than the minority of radicals.
