      @gmponza 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @TattyboJangles100 your crown orders you to sail across the world and establish a prison colony, you survive and are completely isolated with no means of communication, the context is essentially this: at the time those men would not have seen themselves as invading, they were a few on an extensive continent that they couldn't even imagine, all unexplored and unknown. even if they knew the indigenous were present they can't just pack up and go home, this was their mission, their livelihoods. We can also see it from the aboriginal perspective. They originally thought it was divine reckoning, and they hid in the bushes overlooking Sydney Harbour watching in fear as what they thought were possums scurried up and down the masts of those ships. in the early days battle between indigenous and British was common and fierce, one convict who grew up at the time stated no white dared go outside after dark for fear of being killed by the blacks. meanwhile the Brits were no better, pushing the indigenous further and further from their traditional lands, even though some authority figures tried to repair Relations it was ultimately in vain when disease ravaged the remaining Sydney tribes. Making one man the scapegoat for everything is ridiculous, but it shows we need to change the date because we all should be happy and united on Australia Day, we can use Cooks Landing as a day for reflection

So the arrival of aboriginals did more damage to this country than the Europeans ever brought along. In fact the Wollemi Pine stands as testament to how Europeans have attempted to preserve Australian history well beyond even human settlement. Because Australian history did just begin with aboriginals it was happening long before that.

Maybe we'd have been Dutch, or French or Chinese but we are not. We were colonies of the British Empire. Obviously some people don't like that but that doesn't mean you can destroy a statue you dislike. It only does the opposite of what they intend. If it's changing the date they want then they are going the wrong way about bringing people over to their cause other than the minority of radicals.
