Thanks John, phenominal items, don't you just love this stuff!! I collect antiques, but bears really touch my heart. Always looking, hoping to find one. Found an older bear at a yard sale, it rained the nite before, so was literally dripping, she said I could just have it!! Has a music box, plays, you guessed it!! Still works!! Hope for more tutorials from you, great info! My best, Carol

This video is such an eye opener for me even though I’ve been collecting Steiff and Hermann bears for many years. Thank you!

Thank you for your knowledge and enthusiasm. I have just unearthed my bears. They have no marks and are now very bedraggled. My uncle was a steward on the Queen Mary and The Queen Elizabeth liners. He used to send me bears and dolls for my birthdays. Although I lived in England, my bears are American but I cannot find any pictures of them (too long ago!) but I will look around for old magazines as you suggest. Thank you!

What a great collection of teddy bears books and other cool Stief collectables. You seem like a very nice guy with a great collection of teddy bears and helping others with certain details on the year and make of certain Steif type teddy bears within the best of your knowledge definitely help others to determine what teddy bear they might own. Thank you for your knowledge and showing us your Stief collection and it's nice to see someone that truly enjoys their collection of whatever they might collect and makes them happy in so and that's so cool. Thanks for sharing your video and giving us a little of your knowledge on collecting Stief type items. It's so much help for other collector's and very informant within knowing what's what for new collectors and I'm thinking also the pro type collectors might learn a thing or two also Thank you for showing us your collection of Stief teddy bears and other type Stief collectable's...........l just came across my thanking you on showing your collection of Stief type collectable and realized its dog on hard to actually understand what I actually wrote. Truly jumbled up So I definitely had to tidy it up a little bit yet I sure used the word collector and collecting so many times that i confused myself within updating my jumbled mess of words of me just trying to say thank you for posting your video on TH-cam but i have to go and write A dog on novel or something lol Sorry about all my yak yak yak yak yak all I can think about right now is that comedian phrase Get er done. I definitely have to learn how to shorten my comments up and not use and Xbox to do so for sure as it wore me out trying to do this on an Xbox series x lol ...............this would of been much easier just saying awesome video and then say you have a fabulous collection of beanie babies. Just joking I mean of course a fabulous collection of Stief type collectables. Sorry as i was suppose to fix how i wrote this but i possibly made it worse and way longer. So Sorry

Well you made my day ! I so enjoyed your chat on teddies and found it very interesting. Its great to find others who share the love of teddy bears. In the UK we are trying to keep isolated, so I am spending a rainy day inside making bear clothes. I would love to see more of your collection if you have time to make more videos. Stay safe, Kind regards Julia

lol.. old pictures almost always make kids (and adults) look cold, but i think it was just the nature of photography at the time.. the expense of taking a photo meant it was serious business that most people would have never had any experience with before, combined with the extended exposure time requiring the subject to keep perfectly still for a relatively long duration of time meant holding an authentic smile (or any contrived expression for that matter) was almost impossible.. the primary exception(s) we see are of young actresses/models/vaudeville performers whose faces/expressions were their whole career (and who most likely would have had experience with taking more than one or two photos throughout their lifetime), but the vast majority of people would most likely have just been sternly instructed to "sit here/stand there and don't move" similar to previous generations commissioning a painted portrait. i have an old daguerreotype (i'm guessing 1860s-1870s(ish) of my great-great-great-grandfather and his siblings as very young children and they all look like dead/possessed dolls.. i don't think children were generally any more prone to sulking, it's just the convention of whipping out an instamatic or iphone and saying "cheese" was a decidedly mid-20th century convention..
