Oh my gosh, Ceri! I wanted to be an archeologist, too, but nobody thought anything of that because blah, blah, blah. I think there are tons of us out there... But we became artists which is equally wonderful! Hurray for us! Thank you for this vid and for all you do.
LOVE this! I've ordered myself one as a combination Easter and Mother's Day present. I will be able to again use my Gelli Plate and do even more. At my age, and after years of playing piano, organ and/or guitar, my wrists aren't what they used to be ... arthritis has set in. This will be such a BIG help to me. Thank you so much for sharing!!!!! And, belated Happy Birthday :)
Just purchased one as a birthday gift to me. December 30 baby here, and I got combined gifts, gifts in Christmas wrapping paper, and had a grand total of one birthday party, on my 10th birthday. I treat myself to something special every year, and I thank you so much for the share. I love you and your videos. You are a gentle soul.
Yes buying a birthday present for yourself is a stellar idea when you’re a Christmas baby. Love what barren you got. I know I love mine that he designed for me. Enjoy it ❤
Wow, that baren is stunning! Like you, I was quite young when my answer to "What do you want to be when you grow up?" was "An archaeologist or a paleontologist." No ballerina or princess for me! That ammonite inlay makes your birthday present to yourself extra special. Now I'm seriously considering treating myself when my birthday comes up! Thanks so much for the share.
Wow! What a great gift for yourself. I completely believe in gifting yourself. My birthday is the end of Nov. so I know all about combining b.day and Christmas gifts. Congrats!
I watch your wonderful videos daily and I never tire of your creations. I especially enjoy listening to your British accent and quirky sense of humor. I live in the Deep South of USA. We use tung oil on heirloom antique furniture.
I am so thrilled that you bought yourself a baren and that it is personalised to you and supporting another creative person with the purchase. Very cool prints as always.
So pleased that you purchased a lovely and practical ”unbirthday” gift for yourself, Ceri. The idea of having a baron with substantial weight sounds very nice. I have average sized woman’s artist paws with a fair amount of rheumatoid arthritis within them. Seem like I could rest the palm of my precious paw onto the baron and pull a nice print. I will check out the site. Thanks, Ceri.
Mine is Jan 4, so years ago I moved my " celebration day" to July 4th! So now there are parades and fireworks!! And who doesn't love a summer! Have fun with it!
Happy Birthday to you..early or late or right on time however you wish to look at it. I celebrate the whole month of my birthday because we are all worth it.
Hi Ceri! Early HAPPY BIRTHDAY !🎉. My fiancé’s birthday is Jan. 5 also and my birthday is on the 6th of Jan. I know what you mean about people being partied out by our special day. So years ago I decided to make the month of January my birthday. I celebrate the entire month and I too buy myself birthday gifts! 😂😂😂 Hugs from Colorado dear Ceri!
Happy birthday in advance Millie to the both of you.....one of my subscribers actually decided a long time ago to move her birthday to a different month
Good for you!! I love the fossil on it. (Not sure if its actually a fossil or not!!! LOL) But I know you will enjoy it. It always amazing me to watch you apply paint, and take paint off, and try to track how the print will look in end. Like playing the "shell game", trying to find the pea!! And then when you turn it over, we say "WOW!!" Haha! And we can't believe how great it looks!! A few things always amaze us all, like watching embossing powder melt, like its the first time!! What a generous field to be involved in. TFS! Austin,TX USA
I absolutely love your work. I haven't played with my plate in a long time. Will have to break it out next year and start. Thank you so much for sharing.
Love when you make these videos. I’m still learning before I open mine up and use it. I love that transparent orange color you use. Would be perfect on the yellow sheets. My fav and Happiest of Birthday, great gift
I blame you. Yesterday, during the pm artists studio live, barens were mentioned. I had just gotten my first ever baren in the mail. A hideous red plastic one from Amazon. Then, I went to Cody’s page and WOW! I ordered one immediately as my Christmas present to myself! And two of your stencils from P and M. Not going to wait until the holidays to use them!!! 🦋🦋🦋
My youngest sister shares your birthday on Jan 5th. She was lucky and always had a birthday celebration just like the other 4 of us kids. Maybe it was due to the fact my mom had a mid December birthday and knew how it was. She was December 13th. 12 days before Christmas. Thank you for another gelli plate video. It made my day to see it posted last night. I love your early birthday gift to yourself. It is beautiful just like the gelli prints you made.
Your Birthday Baren is just gorgeous Ceri, what a work of art in itself, and your prints were just beautiful, my birthday is next week, there seems to a lot of creative people born around this time of year, it was so exciting watching you open it, then I was, oh there's bubble wrap too and tissue paper, this is so exciting. Also your t-shirt looked very nice, did you design it?
Dec 28 baby here and I feel everything you said about not properly celebrating a birthday during the Christmas season. My son’s grandmother is a Griffiths from Caenarfon. Your Welsh lilt always makes me think of her. ❤️
I love my. baren from Anthony. I have a nautilus on mine, too. Having fun watching your video. My daughter Nola is a 12/29 birthday girl and I think you do not get a fair shake at a birthday for the reasons you stated. Glad you got yourself a beautiful piece of art from Anthony and that he has caught the gelli plate bug.
Very beautiful outcomes, my birthday is December 27th, my sister was the inky one to give separate gifts and I gotten a 5 ct. Piece if that fossil, it was no bigger than a dime and cost about $60. I believe the discovered a dried up river bed in Canada, the shells were as big as a dinning table top. 💜
Hi Ceri! December birthdays, both of my grandmother's, 27, 28, my nephew, 1st, 2 nieces 13, and 31st, and a bro in-law on the 27th. So I share your pain even though I'm a May baby. We tried very hard to keep things separate for the kids. My sister who's husband was the 27th, their girls were the 13th and 31st. So since getting classmates etc to bday parties in December was impossible she would have t heir happy unbirthday parties shortly after school let out and the weather warmed so sleepovers in tents, with campfires were possible. They did crafts and had a blast. They also in February rented a hotel pool for a sweetheart pool party. I think they did a great job of making it special. I am loving your new Baren, it is stunning! His yarn bowls also caught my eye. Even though the only thing I could use them for is my embroidery threads, since work with large skeins. I've often thought I would love ❤ to collect yarn bowls. Old, new, wood, ceramic, glass, metal you name it. There are some gorgeous ones out there! I enjoyed today's video immensely, and added Andy to my favorite shops! ❤
Ceri, I'm only 10 minutes in to the video and I'm having so much fun watching you with your birthday baren! If you were a cat I would say you were purring! You reminded me of my cat getting her belly rubbed. Lol. It's fun to watch you play and create art! I I have to go watch the rest of your video now. TFS! Hugs from South Dakota, USA.
Love watching you , I learn so much. If you are ever in Florida USA and you can come to Cocoa beach, it’s about 1hour from Orlando you have to go to the Dinosaur Store. They have beautiful fossils. Look it up online. It’s amazing. Can’t wait to go play🌴. I don’t know if you celebrate but Happy Thanksgiving early.
What a beautiful birthday gift You are going to enjoy 😉 using it. And yes you need to protect your hands and wrists. I think I will look into purchasing one for myself.
Ludmila, I use the word investment because they are not cheap but then you’re purchasing a hand made piece of art as well as a piece of equipment to make your art easier, Anthony makes them in different sizes so check the dimensions compared with your grip, you can also contact him via his shop if you have any questions.
yay!! birthday baren!! i know you probably already know this, but just to doublecheck... when you get in a spot where you want what's on the plate but don't want to block out the print you're picking it up with, you can pick up with clear acrylic medium like your Modpodge. 😊
I husband Grumpy Gnome turned me a baron last year for use with my Misti stamp positioner . This was before I started to play around with my gel plate. My baron has a piece of felt on the bottom which enables it to slide effortlessly across the plastic cover of my Misti. When I started gel printing and saw P using the baron that Anthony had turned for her, I wondered if my baron could be used with my gel printing was I was happy to discover that it slides across all my different papers with ease.
Your birthday baren is gorgeous! I always enjoy your gel plate creations! My girls & I love fossils too and found a lot of fossilized sea creatures on the top of a mountain. We later used them in school projects and donated some to a museum. I have a January child and also overcompensate to make her birthdays special and separate from Christmas.
So am I Jennifer, I’m thinking of more notebook now than journal as I know who I’m going to send it to and they’re more a note keeper than a journaller.
Watching you put the tissue on the 5x7- and not using your new BARREN!! (I know, habit!). Suggestion - there is a spot between the large plate and the small one (above the small one) that might be perfect for a staging spot {easy grab}
my son's birthday is on st. nicolas eve, the 5th of december. Over here in the Netherlads that is an evening with gifts for children.... [children put their schoes by the chimeny sing songs and leave a carrot for the horse of st Nicolas] we had my son's gifts wrapped in birthdaypaperand gave them on the 5th of december and the gifts for st.Nicolas where on the 6th early in the morning... everything so he would have his own birthday-day.....
My birthday is on December 4th so I totally understand. I'm buying myself a gayle agostinelli journal. I was going to get a Christmas journal when she puts them on etsy but no I have my eye on her mouse journal. So l think I will wait and it we be a birthday/Christmas present but we'll worth the wait.
I like what you said about "failures" and your comfort zone. In my life, the times that I have learned the most is when I have not achieved the success I expected in a task. From these experiences, I learn what doesn't work and why. This enables me to adjust my approach in future endeavors which means a greater chance of my hoped for outcome. As for one's comfort zone, I am a firm believer that when one becomes comfortable, one does not give life its due. Our approach to life becomes tainted with the attitude of trying to achieve the maximum benefit through the least amount of effort. That is not a healthy attitude for oneself or civilization as a whole. I believe each of us is capable of bringing something unique and beneficial to the world. We cannot do this if we do not try our utmost to strive for something more worthwhile than what came before. Art is not and never should be about mediocrity. Art is where the outer world and the inner world meet. What is created is partly what we create and partly some spark of creation that comes to us as a gift. But, we must always remember that the gift will not be bestowed upon us if we do not strive for its presence in our efforts. Giving the least effort (being in one's comfort zone) with the expectation of a maximum benefit does not make us worthy of having the gift of true creation. What we create is false and undeserving. When we praise what we have created, we are only stroking our egos. The art of creation can be amazingly fulfilling. But, art does not equate to the number of subscribers one has on one's channel. Art is not connected with financial gain through merch sales, patreon subscribers or dollar amounts coming from tips. Art is dependent upon thought, openness to that which is new, and a willingness to sometimes give more than one receives. Cari, you show in each of your videos a willingness to experiment. You do not display reluctance in any way to change your way of thinking in order to solve a problem. I suspect you give to us more than what you receive in return. You teach, you encourage. I get much more out of your videos than what I get out of the other TH-camrs I watch. Thank you for your time, your efforts, your knowledge and your encouragement.
Great job. I simply can't understand why they cannot make totally clear paint. When I rag or sponge painted walls they made a clear latex that you could add to latex paint to thin it down. People who do paint pouring use something, also to mix in their paints. Don't know why you couldn't use something like that, for a totally clear to pull.
Although my birthday was in August, I think I’ll give myself one of Anthony’s barens as a belated birthday gift to me. P seems to really enjoy hers. My son’s birthday is 12/28 and his dad’s is 12/29. When Brian was born, his dad told me he wanted to celebrate his birthday just as much as we celebrated his sister’s in July. However, he would receive gifts with tags that read: For Christmas and birthday. 😀
Hy Ceri.......watching your lovely video makes me want to have one as well, it looks really lovely. iǜe been watching your videos for a while now and love them.. I would like to know how do you store your gelliplates and what do you have them lying on while working on them? I wish you much more fun with your lovely birthday present and have a good time,,,,,best wishes from Cologne, Angelika
Angelika, My gel plates are on pieces of plexiglass or acrylic, its about the thickness of the glass you'd find in a photo frame (but not glass)....more of a firm plastic. I store my gel plates between pieces of paper in a plastic storage box, I lay them flat however in the past I've stood the boxes on their side with no I'll effects, just make sure the gel plate isn't bending over on itself as that may cause some damage in the long run.
Thank you 🎉🎉 always learn something! 🧡💛💚
Oh my gosh, Ceri! I wanted to be an archeologist, too, but nobody thought anything of that because blah, blah, blah. I think there are tons of us out there... But we became artists which is equally wonderful! Hurray for us! Thank you for this vid and for all you do.
Michelle, its very similar, lots of digging into the past to be inspired for the future also art is exploration of both mediums and ourselves.
Tabatha, I’ll look that up thank you and yes because I lived in the states for many years I hold my own little Happy thanksgiving.
Ceri, if you had brayard the brown paint onto the netting directly I think that would have given a better paint transfer onto your sheet.

Thank you, I truly love what I do and what I do is a result of an interesting life where I’ve been gifted opportunities which I’ve taken a chance on.
I think I have too many control issues to do so many layer 😅🇺🇸
Sharon it’s been hard to let myself just go for it but the rewards when I can are much better if I do.

Oh thats a hard date to have….happy birthday in advance.
Denise I use Matt medium which is clear.
@@CeriGriffiths that is a great idea!
I’m a new year baby! And my gifts were combined 🤨😕
I know that feeling.
I’m sorry spell check mess up the spelling of your name! Ceri now it’s spelled right! 😥🌻🥰
Diana, never worry you’ve no idea how many version of my name I’ve seen or heard over the years….Lol
My youngest son birthday is 12/31New. Years Eve baby
Special baby but difficult birth date
Ceri, How do you condition the plates?
I use mineral oil, I used to yer baby oil but now I use the mineral oil P recommends.
Ha, my birthday is January 8th, I totally get where you are coming from❤️
Only a few days apart, happy birthday in advance.
I never know if I should be insulted by birthday/Christmas presents or just understand that’s the way some people are. But it does sting a little.
