12:00 - That's the wrong charger cable. The correct MagSafe charger for the first gen MacBook Air was smaller and angled out the back so it would have no problem remaining connected when sitting flat on a surface. A 128Gb SSD was an option, model MC234LL/A and cost $1,799 as configured and if I recall... was a $500 upgrade over the 128Gb spinning drive.
IIRC, those T ones only lasted a bit because they had issues making contact and were replaced by the angled versions. My 2010 MacBook Pro has the L one.
@@_SurferGeek_ I got that, I just thought i remembered that angled version being around for a while before the MB Air because of the poor connection issues of the straight one.
Lol, that's the wrong charger for that first gen MacBook Air. The original charger connector had the wire come out at a 90 degree angle so you could charge it while sitting flat on a table.
I find it great that the charger included in that MacBook Air is the older, now less common T-type MagSafe 1, even though it probably shipped with the L-shaped MagSafe 1
In the custom artisan keycap space that on the low end actually. Some artisan makers can charge up to 100-150 on the higher end for some more detailed pieces
Fun Fact, Toshiba Portege was thinner than the macbook air and had a DVD drive. I was working for Toshiba at the time and i Remember them presenting the new one and completely bagging apple. Thats not the right charger for the macbook air btw, it was the barrel type one. Can we stop the expensive key cap crap please. Spend $$ on your gpu not your keyboard. A used dell or hp keyboard for $5 does the same job.
That MacBook Air is a 3rd generation. The 1st generation can only run up to Mac OS X 10.7 Lion due to firmware limitations. It has a slower CPU, slower ram and smaller HDD/SSD. It has graphics from Intel, while the 3rd generation has graphics from Nvidia.
Back when notebooks still had quality, people though it was very cool to have an overheating, flimsy and short lived thin PoS with no upgradebility and reduced functionality by a super annoying lack of ports instead.
I GOT AN SSD IN 2010. IT WAS SO SMALL AND LIFE WAS BAD. Nothing fit in my laptop including my music library while doing school work on it so I was constantly tethered to externals.
A common upgrade for those Macbook Airs, would be to upgrade the internal SSD's from the Macbook Airs from a Dell Latitude D430. They used the same form factor 1.8" drive . The Dells hard drives if I remember correctly was from Liton, and Samsung used Toshiba SSD's. Fun times, and to be honest I don't think the Apple was that much smaller then the 12.1" D430.
That cube is nearly identical to a light table the preschool i work at has. Ours is a rectangle in a wood box. Everything else about it is identical. Would explain the water proofing.
With the cube it is more than likely only using the RJ45 connector as a convenient connector rather than it actually being Ethernet. It is a connector first much like usb is a connector first. There are not strictly rules about what have to do with a connector type. Also the cube is really cool.
Austin your using the wrong charger for the Macbook Air you need an L style connector what you was using was the T style connector, the L style connector does not have the same issue you faced here as was designed to fix that issue.
TLDR: For an artisan keycap like that, it about the going rate heck even on the low end. Custom keyboard space is a big money sink like any other hobby (cars, coffee, watches etc…) Well yea because these are not targeting regular consumers that type on nothing but a $20 dell / Logitech keyboard. In the custom keyboard space. Artisan keycaps can go for as much as $100-150 each on the high end. Collectors sink thousands of dollars into color pieces of plastic because it looks good to them. All about perspective. For me it is pretty much “cheap” as artisan keycaps go. Ridiculous, can be. But then custom keyboard builds that can go over several hundred dollars each. So at this point this doesn’t phase me anymore.
Austin, thats not the right charger for the first gen MBA, the first gen came with a charger that had a 90 degree on it so it pressed flat to the body of the macbook. It was to prevent this very problem...
Considering that stupid moss humidifer is tiny, very cheaply made of plastic, 100 bucks is an absolute rip off. If it cost 5 bucks too make I would be surprised
The crap Matt and Ken gave Austin for the key cap is hilarious. Lmao.
The last video too😂😂
“I’m famous too!!!”
Thanks for the spoilers
When somoens named ken i laugh.. someones named ken and asian. I laugh harder and think of a curtain game.....😂
That MF DOOM reference got me
Hit me out of absolutely nowhere lol
facts
True!

@@ProtoV33MK1 My comment was regarding the MB Air. I bought the *very first* MB Air. Ordered on release day and it came with the 90 degree cable.
@@_SurferGeek_ I got that, I just thought i remembered that angled version being around for a while before the MB Air because of the poor connection issues of the straight one.
You know it's gonna be a good day when Austin posts another episode of mystery tech
his entire channel is basically just mystery tech at this point.
Shoutout to the DOOM reference! 4:42
That keycap costs more than my full keyboard...
“The problem is, I see it.” Low key funny
4:40 RIP DOOM
Metalface got minions everywhere
this got me fr.
I was not expecting that 😂😂
I noticed that as well
DOOM would’ve totally rocked that jacket
Kyle sold me fentanyl in the back alley of kmart
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Kyle sold me funko pops laced with fentynal.
Fentanyl*
Same
😂

The drumming reaction LMAO 18:25
matt's face said everything I was thinking in that short span of time
😂
that keycaps jacket is fire, no cap
Type shit
multiple caps actually
new keys what we sayin
Love the MF DOOM reference too.
fym no cap, ALL CAPS
Yo fam ,THE KEY CAP JACKET IS FIRE AUSTIN 😂❤
4:33 we want a whole video of Austin wearing it 😂
That big cube looks like it would be great as like a nightstand or some sort of table in a room
Matt taking that 5:57 picture in the back 😈
Why is the video kinda over saturated?
You’re settings 😅
Or you’re internet 😅
Schizo
They always are.
Because theyve over saturated it...🙈🤣
i love mystery tech please never stop doing this
I am willing to pay $0.30 with free shipping with that key cap
Then you're not the target audience
I find it great that the charger included in that MacBook Air is the older, now less common T-type MagSafe 1, even though it probably shipped with the L-shaped MagSafe 1
I love the mf doom reference Austin always suprises me 😂😂
$30 for a keycap holy
It's not a bad price. For a low-run, custom cap it's ok. It's supposed to be an accent piece.
30 dollars for a single keycap is too much
Not really
you should get an aerogel cube. Even more expensive than the tungsten and barely more than air.
It also had its own specific 45W MacBook Air charger and two skus - one had an ssd and one had the ipod drive.
A single keycap for 30 usd? How out of touch are these influencers.
In the world of custom keyboards that's pretty common especially for the artesian ones.
In the custom artisan keycap space that on the low end actually. Some artisan makers can charge up to 100-150 on the higher end for some more detailed pieces
They know their fanbase will pay it
Tell me you don't use a mech keyboard without telling me
@@DeekNBohls You can get key caps for mechanical keyboards for way less that feel amazing lol
No family jewels were harmed while making of this video 😂
That infinity cube thing is really cool, but I wouldn't even pay $50 for it.
It would cost around $30 to do it yourself, and that's using glass instead of plastic panes

A tale as old as time- two people capping their 'boss'... He's lucky he survived.
austin evans at this point should just create a museum full of rare tech xd
Finally some mystery tech
"don't get out hopes up"😂
Love the drumming, Austin. Really going with the beat😂😂😂
Yooo it’s the hipyotech jacket!!!
Can't lie, this was a great mystery tech! didn't even realize it was 20min long

Austin using a mfdoom line threw me lol
YAY THEY ARE BACK!!! LESS GOO BACK IN BUSINESS AUSTIN!!
Quick Tip… EVERY MAC EVER HAS ALWAYS HAD A RIGHT CLICK!!!
Press the Control Key and click and there's your Right Click! 💡
Where's Jared?
Right
Austin... the Air was a response to the Ultrabook movement, and the "SSDs" of the time were actually eMMC.
That MacBook Air was meant to be used with the 90 degree MagSafe connector, the cylindrical one.
austin hit cuberty
9:15 😂 That's some gusto!
wholehearted send, very vivacious 💥 10/10
Austin playing drums on the cube and singing, and they just look at him
Just seeing that macbook air metal is giving me the chills.
That Hypercube is really cool.
The clip of Austin from 11 years ago; you looked really different back then! I think it's the lack of glasses.
I was hoping for Austin to drop the tungsten cube on the table.
Back when notebooks still had quality, people though it was very cool to have an overheating, flimsy and short lived thin PoS with no upgradebility and reduced functionality by a super annoying lack of ports instead.
14:00 I think someone may have gotten an iPod classic SSD and put it in there.
I GOT AN SSD IN 2010. IT WAS SO SMALL AND LIFE WAS BAD. Nothing fit in my laptop including my music library while doing school work on it so I was constantly tethered to externals.
Hey austin, im glad that your youtube channel is growing again
That big cube looks like an Eiscue! Austin, you gotta add some attachments and turn that thing into the head of an Eiscue
man i hate to admit it but that keyboard jacket is so 🔥😭
2:26 is a great example on why men are easy to impress. all it took is one button press and everybody in the room goes "OOOOOOOOO" .
Seems like every single episode is a “mystery tech”
The charger for that MacBook was cylindrical in build so it wouldn’t fall out. So someone doesn’t have the right charger for it. 10:08
always love the Mystery Tech series.
Alex tho 1:24 😂

They do be making a machine that spew spore in your room
4:41 I work at DHL and that's the least fucked up package I've seen 😂
the jacket is awesome :D Think i need to order one
Did he just quote MFDOOM? Would Austin know DOOM? I’m staying 🤷🏾😂
The hypercube is giving walawigi pinball vibes
No computer with words Mac in it was ever a big deal in computing.
3000$ for 104 key caps jeeeez
Moss grows in cool, damp environments.... not hot and humid ones...
I love how austin wears donut merch. Makes me wonder if hes a car enthusiast aswell
I dig the AlphaTauri hat. Too bad they ruined the branding on that team
That cube is nearly identical to a light table the preschool i work at has. Ours is a rectangle in a wood box. Everything else about it is identical. Would explain the water proofing.
A bunch of cube shaped objects and an outdated apple product seems like a missed opportunity for showing off an old iMac cube.
16:25 This is what nightmares are made of..
d-did….did Austin Evans just make a fucking MF DOOM REFERENCE!?!??!!
With the cube it is more than likely only using the RJ45 connector as a convenient connector rather than it actually being Ethernet. It is a connector first much like usb is a connector first. There are not strictly rules about what have to do with a connector type.

The way it lit up was really amazing, that's something I'd want in my bedroom 17:09
Just needed a Gamecube to go with all the other Cubed stuff.
Nah 30bucks for that is outrageous you should have just said that straight instead of playing it off like it’s not as much as you expected .
TLDR: For an artisan keycap like that, it about the going rate heck even on the low end. Custom keyboard space is a big money sink like any other hobby (cars, coffee, watches etc…)

yoo Austin love ur vids man
10:43 he never took a shower after that
I'm fighting moss every fucking month of the year, I'd prefer to bave a moss kileer not moss filter 😂
Hypercube Nano + rotating stand as a v2 release, is something I’d buy!
I Love Austin Evans Videos 💙
Can’t believe he had to play with his balls to use the moss device
Love the MF DOOM reference Austin!
The correct charger is the thinner round barrel MagSafe that the cord comes out the side
That humidifier is perfect for me
Me when I here someone asks if they can get an "ohh yeah?": Oh my God, is that Private Party?
Austin, thats not the right charger for the first gen MBA, the first gen came with a charger that had a 90 degree on it so it pressed flat to the body of the macbook. It was to prevent this very problem...
Austin with the MF DOOM bar🗣️
that mac had an L shaped very thin magsafe charger, that's why another different charger is gonna do that
Temu tech makers be wilding
Fra-gee-lay. It must be Italian.
ngl if every button on that jacket was a pocket where u could store shit that would be pretty sweet
Considering that stupid moss humidifer is tiny, very cheaply made of plastic, 100 bucks is an absolute rip off. If it cost 5 bucks too make I would be surprised
We need a video where you take macbook air 1st gen and try the put in a iPod hard drive converter like they use to update ipods
subtle DOOM reference, thanks austin!
I hope it was fun recording.
17:25 it looks like it goes on forever duuuuuuude. 😎🤙
Austin Evans is great 👍🏻
