    Thank you for mentioning care home residents. It is unnecessarily cruel that they have been confined for more than a year with no freedom to go out or to see friends and family in a relaxed environment. Heartbreaking for all of us.

      @Zak McKracken If politicians, media and big pharma were transparent and trustworthy, do you think people would be asking so many questions? What makes you think that people's concerns about vaccines brought out for mass global vaccination, in the short space of 8 months, is actually anti-vax, most of them, like myself will have had multiple vaccinations since childhood and through adult life with vaccines for travelling? I'm very much pro-vac, by about 20+ to one. I have 2 friends have suffered with conditions associated with clotting issues roughly 2 weeks after AZ vac. One of my closest friends was found by her daughter, ino hospital, ongoing neurological tests, and another friend diagnosed DVT. It could be a coincidence of course, but a bloody great big one if so. Don't tar, people of genuine concern about so many vaccines brought out so quickly, or those who highlight lack of transparency in politicians, pharma corporations and other powerful figures with more conflicting interests than would be acceptable in political or business practice, those people might save you a lot of shit in the future, and certainly won't do you any harm in the meantime. The divisive rat is a great deal worse enemy to mankind than any plague rat has been. You should realise how fragile your perception is, by your need to get uptight defensive against anyone pointing out flaws or to lack of transparency in all involved. If your perception is rock solid, shouldn't it be able to stand up to any scrutiny that's thrown at it. Elon Musk said humans tend to think they're an awful, awful lot smarter than they actually are. Currently you are proving his point succinctly.

      Why take a vaccine ?

    • @Grim_Beard
      @Grim_Beard 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@jattnijjerable First, not everyone is under 50.
      Second, that's the infection probability for _one_ day, not your overall risk (in a year, for example, the equivalent risk would be 1 in 126, not 1 in 46,000.
      Third, death is the worst outcome of an infection but is not the _only_ severely adverse outcome.
      Fourth, that's still a much higher risk of dying than most people would find acceptable, especially when vaccination reduces the risk substantially (to nearly zero). Would you order pizza from a company that 'only' puts dog shit in one in a thousand of their pizzas, especially if you have the option of ordering from somewhere with a zero rate of dog shit?
      Just get vaccinated, unless you have a _genuine_ medical reason that you can't. 'I'm scared of science' is not a valid reason.

      Its 1 in 46 k catching it, if you catch it 1 in c10k you multiply probability

    Hopefully this doesn't need saying - but we need to keep up with social distancing and masks indoors to keep things under control - India has shown how quickly things can reverse. Its great that 50% of UK has antibodies but that leaves lots of young people who can still get long covid out there plus immunocompromised people who can't be vaccinated . But I agree with the sentiment you shouldn't be fearful if you have had 2 jabs.

    Is it possible to provide a simple "Ladybird Book" style explanation of why the Zoe figures quoted by Tim of approx 1,100 new symptomatic cases per day are lower than the headline gov.uk confirmed cases ones which have averaged around 2,500 per day for the last few days?
    Are the two figures measuring something different, or referring to different time periods?

    Are you taking the areas where there are not enough contributors into account at all? Because as many of those areas could be described as ‘deprived’, is it likely that the map could look a lot worse if there were enough contributors? I’m asking because the places where there are enough contributors that have higher cases, the numbers seem a lot higher than most areas

    Thank Tim, I'd like to see far more public awareness of relative risk between vaccine vs covid vs general level of risk such as falling down stairs or crossing the road. I so agree about nursing homes, of course. I would also like to see the blanket vaccination of the prison population. Staff & Inmates alike. Although incarcerated because of their crime, these people have been inhumanely locked into their cells for all but an hour a day for the past very many months in an attempt to prevent covid spreading and totally denied any access to visitors. Can you imagine that!! Please press for them to be vaccinated no matter their age. Thank for all your hard work - I so appreciate being able to read facts in this time of mass obfuscation.

    Hi there, please could you comment on the increasing divergence between your daily infection figures and those confirmed by test reported on the government dashboard. Are we now down to such a low rate, and testing so many people, that false positives are now a genuine portion of currently reported cases? Many thanks
