It's this kind of misinformation that is pulling us back & aiding the slow developing of our people to a grinding halt. Innoson doesn't manufacture. The interviewer can only ask him questions and accept answers based on the level of his own knowledge. That's why Innoson can get away with claiming that he manufactures.
Tell us the metal components or plastics components manufactured by his Enugu plastic plants and tyre plants (other than his plastic injection moulding machines producing chair, tables, etc) Tell us where the metal & plastic body frames for his different car models are casted. Tell us where the engines, the (gear) box, carburettor, rubber tubing, etc are casted. Tell us where the stirring/wheels/clutch/break, etc components are casted. Tell us where electronics components/parts are manufactured. Tell us where computer software for his different models are written/configured. Tell us where those components are being quality tested and controlled. Are those finished vehicle tested for operational and safety quality assurance & control?
While you're at it, tell us where his different vehicle models are technically designed and where are the designs modelled before metal casting/forging?
We are also not a manufacturing economy because every single part and component he uses in every vehicle model he assembles are either imported or the machine, tool and equipment used in producing them are all imported.
These are some of the reasons why Inosson vehicles end up being pricy/expensive compared to imported cars of the same model despite Nigerian economy having a lower income per head & capital (labour costs) compared to developed / industrialised economies. Until we can actually manufacture & produce ourselves, that situation will remain the same.
Manufacturing Economy is the only solution. The knowledge, ability & capability to manufacture & produce ourselves.
Manufacturing Economy > Millions of real Jobs per year > Good Economy.

One thing is understanding the job of vehicle insurance companies. The people need to be educated on what they should know about vehicle insurance, you don't expect the vehicle insurance companies to fuel your car when you run out of fuel. "Insurance companies can only intervene when you get accident with your vehicle and not when you experience engine failure " if someone hits your car the insurance companies should be able to repair your car for you, while they use their power to make the guilty one pay back to the insurance company without you having to fight each other, but if you pour water into your fuel tank and your engine get spoiled, you should face the consequences yourself.

Insurance companies are risk takers. One would think the only reason you insure your vehicle is because of accidental damage to your property(car). Still, the case is not so with the insurance companies in Nigeria. Couple of things to note, roads, electricity, and theft or damage to the car. if the roads are not good this can cause accidental damage to the car. What if your car gets stolen? We all are aware of the issue with electricity in Nigeria. Insurance companies are risk takers, they are in for profit. They think it is too risky to insure vehicles in Nigeria.

This Innoson guy is basically a big LIAR. He doesn't know what he's talking about. 😳👎🏽
He doesn't even know the difference between MANUFACTURING and ASSEMBLING? 🥺
Does he even know the meaning of metallurgy? Or mechanical metallurgy for that matter?🤔🥺
As a mech engineer, who has worked extensively with some top german auto manufacturing plants -VW/BMW, I tell you guys that Innoson is only an auto assembly plant, period.
The Innoson guy doesn't even sound like a tech person. He basically sounds like a traditional Nigerian-Ibo businessman. He's doesn't sound scientifically educated.
His answer to the question of how he manufactures his metal components for his assembled vehicles was flawed. His answer was at best, very elementary and deceitful.
Hey, but the journalist himself, failed woefully to push back with tough questions for the Innoson guy to fill in the gaps. Perhaps he was too afraid as it's usually the case for some so-called Nigerian journalists.
The interviewer himself doesn't sound technically sophisticated to do that kind of interview. He lacked the tech preparedness for this level of auto manufacturing conversations.
That kind of interview in Nigeria could have been better handled by the likes of Dr. ABATI and his team on the Morning Show. They are well more equipped with the journalistic, technical, and legalistic knowledge base for such vital interview. - Safety and reliability of these Innoson automobiles are questionable.
Mr. Innoson can be better advised to understand the meaning of humility and truthfulness when you're at this level of business in any society.
Based on my own research, the Innoson auto assembly plant business is primarily based on CKD parts that he purchases from between South Korean and Chinese auto manufacturers. And he's on Nigerian TV telling lies and garnishing his plant's capabilities - with the interviewer just allowing him to get away feeling with it.
The Innoson auto assembly business is not different from what many Asian assembly plants do in countries like the Philippines, Vietnam, Indian, etc.
Even the entire South Korean/Chinese auto manufacturing of today, started with CKD parts from the likes of the great American General Motors - GM - manufacturing. But they worked their ways up from the auto assembly levels to the manufacturing levels that they have attained today.
Mr. Innoson should be proud of his business acumen, that he's able to attain this spot in the auto industry of Nigeria with little or no technical education. He should be humble enough to be truthful to the Nigerian people and government. Taking advantage of the fact that the Nigerian media and the vastly uneducated Nigerian masses won't question his false claims of auto manufacturing is very disloyal to the same country whose citizens he expects their patronage.
The interviewer didn't even touch on the safety and manufacturer's warranty of these Innoson assembled vehicles. No serious governmental oversights to check level of safety of these automobiles under any conditions.
When I heard the callous way he just sidetracked the question on how he manufactures the metal parts from some unknown sources for his vehicles, I almost threw up.
I could go on and on, but my simple advise for the Inmoson guy is to return to the TV circuits and start retracting his misstatements on this topic of manufacturing.
Additionally, he should pay some well-oiled Technical Relations Officers - (TROs) to do these kinds of interviews. While he, himself, sources the funding for his operations.
....if you consider yourself a Nigerian bigman, you should also consider it a big responsibility to be big on the truths that matter.
...always remember that many Nigerians are way more academically educated than you are. And they can engage on social media these days to rebuff any miseducation.
....also remember the Ikoyi real estate guy who lied so much on Nigerian TV interviews about his successes in building high-rise structures across the world and was corruptly allowed to erect the failed 21-story building - (only 15 floors approved) - that killed lots of innocent Nigerians recently.
Nigerians just need to start punching holes in any misstatements - (lies) by any Nigerian businessman or politician. Because it's about integrity, morality, safety, security, and corruption-free society. And the educated class can start it off. Thanks!🙄

Most are of simple design and shape, which leave me asking what if there is a limitation in the skills of the craftsmen, the people welding the joints and shaping the metals. These are very vital skills. And the lack of automation of the factor will also serve as a reason why we will not see them going all out in extreme designs. But I'm quite confident that With time we will get there. We just need to be more patriotic in vehicular regards. The more we buy the better he creates. The more he creates the better the crafts men get everyday and the more of them that we shall see in the society. IVN is a win win win

This is a company that assembles vehicles and NOT manufactures vehicles. All parts and components of their vehicles are shipped in from foriegn countries and ASSEMBLED in Anambra state, Nigeria at Innoson motors assembly plant. That is the truth....

There’s no car company in the world that manufactures 100 percent raw, there must be of place of buying , like cars radio has resistor , capacitors , etc, which are produced by other factories, so no car company can manufacture 100 percent of all its products, the major thing is , is he the one, building the engines, tires, the car body from scratch, if he is then it’s a manufacturing company, even car companies abroad get their batteries from other factories and as he said, he only import the steels, showing that from engine to the whole car itself is built by company, so it’s a manufacturing company

Please do your full research before spewing all these things. Only engines and few other components come from outside the country . IVM has a network of subcontractors that supply components for production which include other innoson subsidiaries under the innoson group. Plastics, batteries, steel, electrical components etc. Assembly is when you have a binding agreement with a sole supplier for all components who dictates vehicle specs. For assembly, you CANNOT source components from anyone else and you must follow the blueprint of the sole supplier else the agreement is terminated. That is not innoson. Everything is fabricated and assembled in the plant. Do your research. If he was into just assembly, he will not be able on his own to start converting engines from petrol to CNG.

Please if you have any doubt that Innoson manufactures or assembles its vehicles, this video by Wode Maya where he toured the factory settles everything. In fact, within the first 3 minutes of the video it is made clear that it is a manufacturing company.

A car assembly comes with a contract of performance from the manufacturer. It is a franchise business, which the franchisee, the car assembly plant , in this case, must comply with.
You assemble the brand you have contract with its manufacturer and give the assembled car the name of the brand owner or a new name approved and adopted by the brand owner, which the brand owner will include on their website as part of their cars. Do you get it? Now is there any car brand owner that has IVM as part of its cars? Which international brand is IVM assembling and/or representing?
Another thing is, you cannot use another car manufacturer's branded parts to make your own cars or mix with other branded parts to make your own car. You cannot use different branded parts from different car manufacturing companies to make your own car. You'd be sued and taken out of business.
Thirdly, in car assembly, you are limited to that brand (the Make) and the models (designs) the car manufacturer contract you to assemble. IVM makes all models - Sedans, SUV, Trucks, Coaches, and branching into Defense. Which assembly plant is allowed by the brand owner to assembly all models and venture into non-conventional automobiles?
Fourthly, if you are a franchisee, a member of a bigger brand, your geographic market area will be defined. You cannot sell your product, cars outside that geographic zone. So barring export restrictions by foreign governments, is there any limitations placed on where IVM by another car manufacturer on where IVM can and cannot be sold? These are a few and I can go on and on. Learn to let go of envy, jealousy and hate. It's healthy.

Typical Nigerian CEO who will not accept that his company is assembling vehicles but insists on saying it is manufacturing vehicles. How can a company claim to be manufacturing when...
(1.) there is no evidence of an office complex where design teams exists to design the vehicles before manufacturing starts....
(2.) crash testing locations or sites as proof of its manufacturing prowess,...
(3.) components that are produced in house and have been tested properly...
(4.) Nigerian companies that partner with them to produce designed components of the vehicles...
(5.) Proof that the transmission boxes, both standard and automatic transmissons are designed and manufactured by them....e.t.c
(6.) None existence of what percentage of the manufacturing process is actually done in Anambra by Innoson motors, 5%, 10%, 20%?..,...e.t.c

@4ever true. Do your research. They manufacture. Almost all components are produced in Nigeria. 80% of the components are sourced in Nigeria with the exception of engines and other components. All plastic components are manufactured by innoson plastics enugu as well as tires produced by their tire plant. Batteries are supplied by ibeto. They have a solid supply chain and are not dependent on a single supplier that dictates vehicle specs. so go do your research and don't make uninformed statements
