Bo is completely right, she does sound like a shy girl trying not to be shy
That's not how you use bo. Bro
@@JesusIsTheWay59 Bo Burham is the film's writer/director.
@@edmerc92 ohh lmao

She's 15 no wonder they don't know anything yet

yes, this girl might be the future of gamegrumps. we will spare no expense.

Nice to see a normal person in Hollywood. A real life eight grader not a model playing a teen
(Two weeks later) Ninth Grade is announced with Michael Bay.
Yeah
@@filiporvik2782 Eight Grade 65.3 announced by Bo Burnham
These 40 year old male executives really trying to get away with casting people like Gal Gadot as a 13 year old
She played Agnes??! SHE PLAYED AGNES??!! I love her already.
Dyutiparna Guha LMAO I HAD NO IDEA
Lol it's weird seeing someone who isn't conditioned/acclimated to the Hollywood interview format. She's still awkward and goofy.
Also her weird head bob thing she does when she makes hand gestures is 100% me.
she isn't awkward at all though...
Thats not weird tho a lot of people do that stop hyperanalyzing a 15 year old girl lol
she is killing it for a 15 year old. If it were you or me at 15, we would've bombed and been embarrassed for the rest of our lives.
@@xgullafter9590 from someone w social anxiety I can tell u she is trying not to be awkward
@@xgullafter9590 yeah, she really is
The way she says 15 and the thumbs up is the funniest thing I’ve seen
It was SO 15 year old , I loved it. Genuinely awkward but perfect haha
It was so cute
a child can be played by a child?? wWHhHaAaaTt?
Lol
lol it's so strange to see just a normal, regular kid that hasn't yet been.. corrupted - for lack of a better word - by Hollywood.
Alan come on, what an idiotic comment...
There's so many of those. It's literally every kid on a talk show ever.
andres segui he’s absolutely right haha. more and more time and she’ll be a whole other person, or just leave the business hhah
With hollywood execs like Harvey Weinstein being charged other disgusting media moguls getting caught, I hope the hollywood she'll be in will be a brighter one.
What a great way to insult every other child actor trying to maintain a normal life, despite adults treating them in all kinds of strange ways. Way to go, Alan lol
Awe she is so awkward and cute I love it 😂♥️♥️
is this a virus
why does someone always comment "awkward and cute" in every interview on youtube?
Sonia Anastasia o
Awe Jimmy is so awkward and I love it 😘
Cute and sincere and fun! Very different from her character in the film. I don't see much awkwardness in that interview, especially for a 15 y/o kid. Or I guess the awkwardness bar is very low these days... ;)
That Gucci jacket thoooooo
*though
it is a slang dumbass

In my mind I'm constantly comparing her to Millie Bobby Brown (the girl from Stranger Things). While I love both of them, Millie is quite intimidating and Elsie reminds me more of me. I love that she's openly weird.
There's room at the table for 2 successful women. Millie is friendly
I didn't mean to diminish that at all. Again: I love both of them. Millie is incredibly talented. But the first time I heard her speak (she was 13 at the time), she sounded more mature than me (I'm 27), which is cool, but I feel like the movie industry only represented teenagers like her - who were more adults than children. And Elsie is different and I like that. I like that she plays dungeons and dragons and does stuff I did (and kind of still do).
But here's the thing. Millie is childish. Her childhood activities however are just relative to 2018. You just like this girl because her childhood activities line up with the nostalgia of yours. If you actually pay attention to Millie's dialect and actions-- getting overly excited about everything, then honey she's a straight up kid. Someone not being as interested in board games as another doesn't make them less of a kid. This is coming from a 19 year old. Your intimidation is just because hers and your culture are different.
No, I'm pretty sure, honey, my intimidation is coming from her being incredibly articulate for a teen. Just accept how I feel about this.
You should never just say "accept how I feel." You should always want to dig deeper into the psychology and sociology of why you feel the way you feel.
IT’S BEEN 8 YEARS SINCE DESPICABLE ME CAME OUT... we’re getting old folks
Whaaaa😲😲😲😲
I didn't need to see this...
She said she is 15 and did the voice when she was 5......I'm confused.
probably was cast and started production in 2008
Mansfin good point
I love how casual and simple she is. Very rare to see such teenagers nowadays.
while wearing Gucci...what an icon
It’s really not that rare. My brother and all his friends act similarly to this girl
Nah i just think the ones that stand out are the louder and more obnoxious ones
Not really. Just that a certain group of teenagers are seen in social media and the public eye, but the other group is mostly ignored.
Yes
Finally, an actor who isn't fake and I can relate to
I don't even know her and I'm so proud of her. The movie is so beautiful
I had a lump in my throat for the whole movie. When the bonfire scene happened I definitely cried. Such a fantastic film.
She’s really funny but I feel like some of her humor confused the adults
She's smarter than most adults tbh...this guy's patronizing is beyond annoying
I loved it when she said 'we were Xtra like that'
I absolutely LOVE her. All of her mannerisms and references are so relatable for younger audiences, but she's still as eloquent and articulate as an adult. I'm so excited to follow her career :D
“I had creative differences with the game” UGH I LOVE HER
Soooo Elsie doesn't /just/ shine on screen. She is a well spoken, quick witted young woman and someone young girls can look up to Her future is looking super bright. Can't wait to see more Elsie projects.
Her vocabulary is so mature for her age! Good luck to her in the future :)
Catherine Roberts she’s 15 and I didn’t hear her say anything that’s really mature. What exactly was it that u found mature for her age?
well she used the word "conduit". I probably didn't use that word until I was in college.
it really isnt that big of a problem
roses omg u be surprised to know that teenagers have a common problem with saying like over and over
Daniel Conway Anyone who played Infamous knows that word haha
she's gonna be a huge star one day.. her personality is awesome
This was a really good interview on both their parts.
Agnes in Despicable Me is 15... Wow, that doesn't feel like that long when the first Despicable Me came out.
Time flies.
I am ahhem... maturing...
"I just had creative differences with the game.... I just didn't think I could properly express myself through that medium." I just heard Bo's voice come out of a teenage girl
And now she’s on the BaddieSMP
Jimmy does so well at making even awkward guests feel comfortable. He talks to them so normally and comfortably so that makes them moreso
She would fit in with the gang in Stranger Things.
Ross Mahon yes!!
OMG YES.
Fighting the Demogorgon in D&D
No joke!
OH MY LORD THE DUFFER BROTHERS NEED TO CAST HER RIGHT NOW
How can you not like this interview. Just saw the film last night. One of the most wholesome, sweet and likable characters on screen in a while.

She seems nervous but at the same time, she isn't trying too hard and she's honestly so funny :)
The fact that Elsie uses Letterboxd validates my use of that app entirely
Nice interview Elsie!
Musical Comedy Hey, dude
She’s seems really genuine and intelligent!
hollywood hasn't corrupted her yet, hopefully they never do
They should really bring the movie out in all theatres
isabellexmorgan I agree!!
Letterboxd moving up 👌
Jordan the Ginger Letterboxd has the worst community
Based on what?
Filip Orvik am I wrong to dislike it?
𝔳𝔬𝔤𝔲𝔢𝔰𝔱𝔥𝔢𝔱𝔦𝔠 what is
I just want to know what your comment was based on. Why is the community "the worst"?
It surprises me how well she can speak and how confident she seems on camera despite claiming to be like the character. Although she is avoiding eye contact w the audience so I guess that's how she's coping.
"Hell yeah"
Crowd: omg that's funny
She mentioned Letterboxd...
What a treasure
"The result of making the movie eighth grade is that your gonna drop out of school"😂
No other actor in Hollywood:
Elsie Fisher (within first 15 seconds): I’ve been reading reviews on Letterboxd
She’s so well mannered and humble. I hope she keeps at it
that Letterboxd shoutout tho
please God let the world have more people like her
She's AMAZING
(I've said it to myself like 11 times through the whole interview)
"It's so fluffy I'm gonna die!" Was Her? I'm sold!
Oh my god I love her!!! I saw the movie two nights in a row and cried both times, she's amazing
She’s such a sweetheart!❤️
What a nice girl! I love her casual style. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I bet she does a great job.
she talked about finstas omg
Jimmy is such an impressive interviewer. He is talking with a young lady with such respect and takes her seriously while asking her interesting and thought provoking questions. Such a job well done! I know other talk show hosts would not do nearly as good of a job.
Real refreshing interview, keep up the hard work Elsie!
She’s so sweet and adorable. I hope Hollywood doesn’t change her.
Wow very well spoken, which honestly makes me appreciate her performance even more, she is so damn good in the film
Agnes in Despicable Me 😊
Elsie’s performance in this film is astounding. So natural and unselfconscious. Wonderful film!
LETTERBOXD SHOUTOUT
we’re the same age and we have the same name,, this is interesting to no one but me
Nah that was pretty interesting for me to read too, thanks for commenting.
Thats intresting , what a coincidence
I’m going into ninth grade this year and this movie hits home pretty well.
i remember her so well from despicable me! she’s so great
I got out of 8th grade literally like 4 months ago. Now I’m a ninth grader. 8th grade is journey in its self but high school is a totally different thing!! I’m so excited to see this movie at some point! I think so many girls relate to her character on some kind of level and I really really like this kind of movie is out there now.
No way she went to my school. It’s crazy watching her on Jimmel Kimmel !! I’m really proud of her !!
she’s such a genuine gal, can’t wait to see her in more 💙
She seems pretty real, we need more people like that starring in movies and not these talentless uncanny valley models in everything.
JT Sleazeball the amount of times she said ‘like’ in the film made me want to die.
Nice to see how jimmi talk about things that she feels comfortable to talk about, like minecraft, and other teenagers stuff, but it looks totally like a normal girl, shy ....but adorable....way to go girl!!!!!
Love you elsie, hope hollywood didnt drown your inner beauty and you could keep being the beautifull shy lovely girl!!!!!!
She knows about letterboxd!
Probably has an account. Which film lover wouldn't?
Elsie is amazing and I can’t wait to see where she goes
Letterboxd shoutout!
Yes I love Letterboxd!
She gave Letterboxd a shout out! Can't wait to watch this.
I like Elsie! She's so real.
She has a great future ahead of her, I'm sure.
I love her so much I hope she never changes!!
everyone was so exited over her doing the voice of agnes hahahaha I relate. she’s the sweetest.
I really like this girl! she seems so real and not fake and how everyone else tries to be perfect. It's so refreshing. I just finished watching Eighth Grade with my daughter and it was great!
She's adorable 💕
Good to see her so happy before Hollywood destroys her.
Love how she’s wearing the Gucci jacket and in the movie, she says gucciii😂😂😂
I’ve seen 8th grade twice it’s amazing super funny and beautiful you have to see it if you can
Andrew Weizer If it EVER comes near me I will
Mega MovieZ it’s suppose to go nationwide August 3rd so look for it than
Andrew Weizer
A bit of a stretch, but could it be an awards contender?
Kev Low yeah I think it should win best original screenplay for sure but the Academy are assholes but hopefully
Saw the movie, she was fantastic. Loved the interview!
Absolutely love her! What an amazing actress.
someone pls reply. is there any UK release date for this or blindspotting or sorry to bother you? also big up letterboxd👍🏼
SHES SO PURE I LOVE HER
LOVE this girl. how precious is she
She's such precious I love her
She read reviews on letterboxd. That's awesome.
I would definitely want to be friends with her if I was 15, she's awesome. It's rare to see an interview with someone who seems like a real person, untainted by media training and bad experiences in Hollywood.
She’s so real she looks real, talks real, and acts real. Amen. I love her
My God, this is such a refreshing interview, in contrast with something like the The Stranger Things cast, she is doing all of this so naturally. Also, the funniest 15-year old I've ever seen. WOW
aw she's such a entrepreneur. I'm going to listen to her d&d podcast now. :)
great job elsie, awesome interview
What a sweetheart. I wish her all the best.
I haven't even watched the movie but I love her already.
i love her and her hand motions omg hahah
She is better than the ...stranger things kids...(no hate though)
I love how in contrast to Millie Bobby Brown Elsie looks younger than her. Maybe it's the lack of makeup
Why was it necessary to bring up Millie?
At 0:45 when she puts her arm on the chair... then 0:48 she takes it off. God I relate to that too heavily.
She’s so adorable lol. And I LOVED that movie!
love this kid- must protect at all
costs
So I feel old af but this is so exciting. I feel like I would have 200% been friends with her and I've never before seen someone that age I could relate go so viscerally on TV.
SHE'S SO GOOD IN THIS MOVIE and so adorable
i go to skool with her, she's realy cool and nice, but we aren't friends. im too afraid to say hi
L O i see they don’t teach kids these days how to spell
Brandon L dang, go talk to her before she goes homeschooled lol
Is she popular because of the movie or is she shy like she said?
Paige Evans she’s pretty shy but a lot of people know that she acts but she’s really nice she’s a good friend of one of my best friends and he says great things about her she is always super sweet and funny just like in the interview
Emily Martinez oh cool! She seems super sweet!!
