With the advent of WWII the Wirraway's general purpose design was definitely utilised in a variety of purposes The aircraft featured (VH-WWY) is one of only four currently flying at present. Before going on to Boomerangs & Spifires my late father flew the Wirraway - actually this one (A20-176) over Sydney Harbour at the time of the Japanese mini submarines, (1943), again when it was restored 50 years later (as a gift at Caboolture) and this same Wirraway was used to scatter his ashes in 1997. Thank you for sharing your father's passion for aviation, for his history of contributions
in defending Australia during WWII and a beautifully appropriate way of scattering his ashes. Thanks so much Lyn.

An old friend mention he was on the team that built the first one, modifying as they went as the blueprint design was flawed with problems only mechanics would find.
The ones in charge were not happy about all the adjustments they had done when they found out, chewed them out and sent them all home.
Next week they assembled and get told to follow these new plans exactly.
The new plans had all the modifications they had done put into the blueprints.

Good story from someone aware of the build adjustments and result back then. Thanks for sharing !
