There's a filter sponge, check out the diagram on our website illustrating the back compartment: www.redseafish.com/aquarium-systems/max-aquarium-systems/max-e-series/
Hi Neil, great presentation!Could Red Sea please look at bringing out a shallow reef version? You could even use all of the existing parts of say the Reefer 350 and 450 but offer a 16 to 18" height aquarium. That would allow all of us not living on a ground floor to have a lwider aquarium and the shallow reef look is very cool!Surely the development would be quick? And you would have a USP as the only other shallow reef option is the Innovative marine, but that has a back sump not an under tank sump...
Thanks for all the interest in the MAX-E 170 & E-260. Pricing for the USA will start from $1449 for the black E170 and $2299 for the black E260. UK pricing will start from £999 for the black E-170 and £1499 for the black E-260 www.redseafish.com/.../max-aquarium.../max-e-series/
I can't decide between the E-170 or the new max nano xl. I would keep the E-170 as an AIO without the sump upgrade. But I like the nano xl because it's new on the market. But other than the size difference between both. Would you say the sump configuration built in the back of both tanks is similar to each other? Would it be fair to say the E-170 is just another bigger version of ths nano xl? Does the E-170 have the exrta silicone on the seams?
The MAX NANO XL is smaller in volume and has the RL50 while the E170 has a larger volume, RL90 sump options etc. If you consider a sump, go with the REEFER MAX 170/200. Budget wise the NANO XL has great value for money and is a great starter tank. The issue, and a good one, would be that you will grow out of it quickly and want to upgrade. So we would recommend if the budget and space allows, to get the REEFER MAX option instead.
We have just received the Max E 260 and have also ordered the upgrade sump package. Ive been looking for equipment lists and nowhere does it state about a heater. If I have the upgrade sump package which heater would you recommend and where would it be placed within the system?
Red sea stock skimmer noisy and pointless, try the Tunze Dc 9004 has magnets 🧲can fit sides ways to surface skims and magnets to glass baffles. Also super quite and skimmer really well The only issue is collection cup is small so can you a tunze holiday cup with tube to drain into container, and if worried to over fill could add a skimmer guardian from D-D.
Nice bit of kit. I have a 250 reefer and love it. Thinking of the new small one for a pair of sea ponies. And a gorgs. Also these are perfect for triton users as can have own configured sumps.
Any Red Sea Dealer can order it for you. If you need more assistance or can't find one, please contact out tech support: www.redseafish.com/tech-support-inquiry/
I like the idea of a rear sump & everything about this aquarium, except for the rimless open top & seeing the lighting. If it had a top (& no, a screen won't do) like the C-250 did, I would place an order right this second. Either for an E-260 w/top OR if a new & improved C-250 LED comes out. If there is a C-250 with Red Sea T5 lamps & in black, forgotten & dust-covered in the back far reaches of the warehouse, I would also take it.

Seems to be an optical illusion. But a magnificent foxface, clown tang and sailfin tang in 260L might get the wrong idea of possible livestock in some people. The foxface is begging the surgeons: please cut my wrists... pleasee The tank is nice though, I've seen it live at Maidenhead Aquatics Windsor, UK.
Can Redsea please a video on Redsea 260 with sump dial in level in rear of tank and sump level as level keeps moving causing ato on and off every 5 minutes
No this is for the reefer not the e-260, do a video showing a return pump the size how to dial in with wheel and where should water level be. The only way for ato and steady water level and weir is for a trickle into emergency drain.
A professional skimmer is a skimmer that is rated by it actual air intake, chamber reaction time and ORP performance. When we match our systems components we go according to our Reef Spec guidelines. See here: www.redseafish.com/max-concept/red-sea-reef-spec/
To Red Sea, why no video showing how to dial flow in on gate valve with the sump upgrade. He is my issue when the main drain near full siphon you have to make sure it flows a little into emergency drain other wise the sump level isn't stable and the Ato goes mental. I don't want to use the emergency drain as time goes on more flow increases and makes a noise. All these videos and nothing about the red sea e260 sump upgrade and how to dial in. Red sea please do a video
Worth it to get this with the lower sump or get the reefer 250 and build on my own sump? Can't decide. What would be more beneficial for me in terms of financials and value. Thanks
Hi, At the end of the day it's a matter of personal preference. Overall the difference in price based on getting equivalent equipment would be roughly the same. I would suggest you visit a shop that has the models displayed and see what you like the best. Thank you for your interest.
Its a great looking tank but I prefer the Red Sea T5 lamps over AI LEDs any day. There is no disco ball look and no shadowing problem with the Red Sea T5 but there is with the AI LEDs. Great tank though otherwise.
Excellent system, my next acuarium this 2020!, 💕💕💕
Wonderful!
Just received my new redsea reefer 750 xxl. Was packaged brilliantly and look forward to setting it up, cheers redsea
Well show us some love=pictures on our FB page. ;)
So unless I've misunderstood-theres no mechanical filtration e.g filter socks in the rear-sump only setup?🧐
There's a filter sponge, check out the diagram on our website illustrating the back compartment:

Are these coming with silicone protection at the seams like the reefer g2 now?
This was 7 years ago
Is there a glass cover that can be fitted?
Glass will collect salt, condensation and will reduce the light penetration. We offer a DIY net screen cover.

I have the 170. What happens to the rear sump compartment if you upgrade to in in cabinet sump?
It stays and the pipes are going down from it.
LOL....at 4:43 one of the blue devil damsel tried to jump out. Is there any kind of cover to prevent this?
Here you go

Anyone know the dimensions of the filtering compartment, where the skimmer and filter are housed, for the e260? I want install an aftermarket skimmer.

Wow those are beautiful
Some really great features. Would evaporation be a problem given the open top? When is it available in Ireland?
Nice bit of kit. I have a 250 reefer and love it. Thinking of the new small one for a pair of sea ponies. And a gorgs. Also these are perfect for triton users as can have own configured sumps.
Does the standard rear sump have an ato or do you have to add your own? Thanks
The MAX E with the standard rear sump does not have an ATO included.
@@Redseafish Thanks for letting me know. Been looking at the xl 200 or 300 now.
Awesome tanks. Take the XL300 that way you won't have to upgrade in 1 year ;)

Does the removable surface skimmer not contain any mechanical filtration media ?
No. The "comb" just prevent fish from swimming into the drains and creates the gradient to allow effective surface skimming.
Can the media rack be removed and replaced by a media reactor that will still fit? Can the chiller piping be replaced by other equipment as well?
The Chiller kit allows you to connect accessories. the media rack can be removed.
you should make a 750l plug and play system I would buy It or at least a 525l
Thank you for your input. We will take it into consideration.
The problem only is with the lights. You should've used your Redsea T5 instead. Those Hydras create a lot of shadowing
If only i could afford one *stares at test kits*
