Ok i feel like i need to resay what i think i was trying to mean
Forest and cliff are very skilled players with an insane amount of melody and harmonic structure, forest has a feel (to me atleast) that he really wants a story being told in his solos, while cliff wants to tear your face apart with shred, both combined as composers would be absolutely unreal

No, I love unclean vocals, but those low "cookie monster" vocals take no skill at all (I learned how to do it perfectly in 5 minutes) and they get very tiring when they're not used sparingly. I feel like so many death metal bands like these guys, CC and Dying Fetus would sound infinitely better if they had more variety in their vocal style.

Very delighted to hear a newer metal band that actually puts emphasis on the bass being heard along the rest of the instruments.

I'm no stranger to TDM but that's the most beautiful bass licks and tones i've ever heard on that kind of music very tastefull and melodical, very melodical. it totally out of what you could expect from the instrument on this style of music.

Who is the drummer? He plays with his ride cymbal on his left. I play with my ride cymbal on my left as well. The open handed playing style started with Billy Cobham. The first metal drummer to play with the ride cymbal on his left is Gene Hoglan. It is very rare to see but there seems to be an increase in the open handed style. I love the freedom it gives to my drumming but it greatly increases the music's overall creativity. I am right handed so I won't lie it is hard to play with such control with my ride cymbal on the left. Pretty much every drummer that tries the left hand ride cymbal quits because it takes a lot of practice to control their playing. Ambidextrous drummers like this guy have to get a huge thumbs up. He is really talented and I can see his career skyrocketing in the near future. This band is absolutely awe inspiring and they have a long career ahead of them. I just hope that egos don't get in the way and destroy their progression as a band. They have a lot of Jazz and Blues and many other Progressive influences. These kind of bands have profound lyrics. I am a Catholic and I know that a lot of Catholics would tell me to not listen to this band because they are sacrilegious, but I guess my human nature is drawn to the rhythms and melodies. This band's music hypnotic to say the least. I think another awesome band is Obscura. It is awesome to let every musicians show their talents on their instruments. I love the bass solo. You basically don't ever hear bass solos. When you do hear them in Heavy Metal the bassists are just as talented at soloing as the main guitarists. Totally awesome band!!

Opiman607 I'd like to make an edit to my previous comment. Bass isn't audible in alot of metal, but in Tech Death that's not usually the case.

Listen to the whole ablum and i promise you no songs will sound the same.

    • @Ghost17110
      @Ghost17110 10 ปีที่แล้ว +10

May I ask, what is so bad about "jent"?
This song features so many elements of djent that I probably cant list them all.
And, what is so bad about deathcore, or, any specific genre of metal, from viking to black to core to djent to prog, all the way to BABYMETAL? Its all metal, just with different aspects that make it different from one another.
Djent has features such as polyrhythmic writing, weird time scales, often ERG's, low tuning, and that lovely power chord that one can get in Drop C (0 0 0 2 X X)
Metalcore has a nice combo of clean vocals and screaming, with licks and riffs that you can easily remember and jam to
Black metal makes you want to rip out your heart and sacrifice a goat's head. kvlt
See my point? All genres of metal are each different in their own way, but we are all under one big happy tree of solid aluminium and iron.

      ***** To quote Tosin Abasi
"I guess it's a legitimate genre because you can isolate 3, 4, 5 (etc..) qualities in a genre of music and they're consistent in every artist who is playing in that genre, then I feel like you can call it a genre. Djent to me is a genre because you can really isolate what makes something djent."
      /watch?v=eq_fvJAR8d8
That is how I, and many people in the djent community view and feel about djent.
Almost every single djent band has at least one of the following (Not saying that this is all djent has):
      A. Lower tunings
      B. ERGs
      C. Clean ambient tones
      D. Boosted mids
      E. Often breakdowns of open strings
      F. Polyrhythmic drumming/writing
      G. A mix of clean and "distorted" vocals
      H. Tapping on the fingerboard as part of a main riff/lick
      etc...

I believe It's a video effect called "Eulerian video magnification" it amplifies subtle changes in movement or even color changes. In this case it seems like it amplifies the vertical movement in the strings. Pretty cool stuff when used on string instruments .
