In this case, if arsene lupin himself.got summoned, he will probably became an assassin or a faker. But if the one we summoned turned out to be a pretender who use lupin's name then it can be a pretender.
I haven't even reached LB6 (just begun SIN), so I don't know if that actually happens, but from what I've heard, most Pretenders disguise themselves as good guys/positive figures. That's why I would love to see a Pretender who, for one reason or another, impersonated an Evil being, even though they themself are good.

Should probably be mentioned with Lady Avalon, although it is small, Merlin does actually have a sister in myth, Ganeida. I say small since outside of modern arthurian stories, the only round table affiliates she interacts with is Merlin and Taliesin and she doesn't pop up much. Some notable things with her however is that she restored Merlin from madness at some point (Berserker Dick Wizard can exist and that's kinda scary), constructed a house with 72 doors and windows to help Merlin's clairvoyance, is by admission by Merlin a better clairvoyant than him, and... convinced God to let her and Merlin into heaven after rescuing him from whatever punishment usually befalls him... also a bit of a bro-con and from being actually half-succubi cheated on her king husband behind his back till he died. So essentially, she's either so obscure that no one realized Merlin actually does have a younger twin sister or she just doesn't exist in Fate/ since she'd break stuff. Though this is Fate/ and retcons and re-explanations are abundant, so if they realize she exists or want to use her... I wouldn't be surprised at a clarification on Pretender Proto Merlin's status and how Merlin is actually able to be a Servant, even confusing him.
The reason why Tenochtitlan contains Tlaloc and Huitzilopochtli inside of her, and why she is able to use their powers is because of the Huey Teocalli, more commonly known as the Templo Mayor. The Huey Teocalli was the biggest temple in all of Tenochtitlan, and it was also a temple that was dedicated to both of these gods.
Another example of Pretender Class is Lelouch from Code Geass. Lelouch has an Alter Ego named Zero, but when Lelouch "died", Suzaku pretend to be Zero, that way Zero will be 'alive', so, Suzaku will be a Pretender.

I think it would be so cool if we could get Titania as a servant. But here's the twist, Titania is so angry that Oberon forget her (well he says that she doesn't exist so i feel like it's close enough) that the master has to essentially play couple therapist to help the two's love life. Technically rider eliza is one too, but this is more about her being split in 2 of her rider self in first place. Normal eliza(lancer) was just helping shishin against the enemy (lancer eliza a good girl at heart after all even if she absolutely hate being identified as such, and yes specifically her lancer version) and they both got defeated. Shijin then fused with eliza in order for her to complete his work(the creation of mount liang) and that s how we got this pretender. Pretender eliza is literally just eliza pretending to be shishin. In her my room line, she literally want you to play pretend making mount liang with her The only the reason for her being a little kid is probably, or at least the way her profil describ it, how the fusion triggered some sort resurection. Also lastly, pretender could also be attributed to the fact that shishin is pretending to not be himself when in fact he is actually the dragon staff eliza uses as weapon, is 100% sentient and can talk but choose to only talk to her. Eliza does confirm the staff is really him but want to keep it a secret Also lastly her only solution against "bad guys" aka any form of bully is actually murder because she hate them from the deep of her heart. I don't know if the real shishin is that violent but this eliza does absolutely want to go for murder and, while she like singing, she doesn't have any interest about becoming an idol at all due to her obsession with making mount liang whenever she can.
I still can't figure out if Benkei should’ve been a Pretender or not, because we know he's not the real Benkei but also if I remember right he never did deeds in Benkei's name and just spread the word about him. But he still imitated him by collecting the weapons of the people he defeated. It bothers me way more than it should!

A lot of Servants were planned out WAY in advance so I have no reason to believe Nasu didn't come up with Pretenders until after the game launched, unless he has explicitly said so somewhere and I'm unaware of it.

This is unlikely, but I think it would be neat to have Maid Marian from Robin Hood myth as a pretender. Although she does have disguises and name changes in myth, I would prefer to see a version where she “pretends” to be Robin Hood. In some versions of the story, Maid Marian and Robin Hood fight in disguises, and Maid Marian wins, so we know she has skill of her own. It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch for Fate to say some of Robin Hood’s heists were actually done by Maid Marian. In fact, it could be that they were working together, and Robin Hood got most of the credit. Our Robin Hood states that he is only one version of what Robin Hood could be, so again, Maid Marian as pretender could prove this point. All this being said, a highly doubt Fate will do this. Even if they do Maid Marian, she’ll probably be a phantom or something in a quest. Note: I looked up Maid Marian after writing this, and apparently, she’s an Archer in whatever Fate/Chaos Revival is. I'm 99% sure bao actually was the priestess in LB6. That's why she was continually revived by Morgan rather than becoming part of the land. If she became part of the land, Cernunnos would be able to revive immediately because her spirit would be part of him. Also could be part of the reason she used magecraft at all despite not needing to.
The idea of Baobhan becoming Cernunnos' new priestess is fitting and makes me smile. Both got a raw deal at the hands of Faerie Britain, so it's nice that at least with Chaldea they get a chance together at a happier existence.
Nice video as always, however, I think that the class skill of Pretenders is giving people who try to rationalize their existence a headache. And the less said about the Faker class, the better.
According to Holmes, Pretenders make their mark on history through lies and deception. It was through this line of thinking that I'm thinking of making a Servant design for Aaron Burr as a Pretender. Sure, he's known for his duel with Hamilton, and was put on trial for treason, but he was still considered a founding father of America with some positive accolades, and some of the records of the aforementioned two major offenses vary wildly. I think that his nebulous characterizations as both hero and villain might still put him in the Pretender class.
Still hope one day we get some famous pretenders from history like (one of the three)False Dimitri(s) or maybe even a Pretender Anastasia (Anna Anderson).

If the name robin hood itself is just a title then no, they can't become pretender class. They need to stole identity from an actual person and living as them so the world will summoned them as heroic spirit instead of the real one.

Now that we got "Hephaistion" in NA, I think I understand what the pretender class is meant to be. (This trend probably breaks with the future pretenders but I'm avoiding spoilers) a pretender is a servant that is actively using the saint graph of another. Vortigern was summoned in the servant body of Oberon, and "Hephaistion" is basically Mnemosyne with only Faker's memories.

Personally I'm waiting for them to introduce Angelica Ainsworth as a Gilgamesh Pretender. It'd be the perfect reason to have another Prisma Illiya event, even if she's just the welfare servant It'd still be good to see her be added since to me it'd make sense to have her as pretender.

Another could be August Derleth, the man who helped H.P Lovecraft work to come to the public consciousness and shape pop culture, while adding various elements to the Cthuluh mythos like more benevolent figures. The idea of Baobhan becoming Cernunnos' new priestess is fitting and makes me smile. Both got a raw deal at the hands of Faerie Britain, so it's nice that at least with Chaldea they get a chance together at a happier existence.
Nice video as always, however, I think that the class skill of Pretenders is giving people who try to rationalize their existence a headache. And the less said about the Faker class, the better.

According to Holmes, Pretenders make their mark on history through lies and deception. It was through this line of thinking that I'm thinking of making a Servant design for Aaron Burr as a Pretender. Sure, he's known for his duel with Hamilton, and was put on trial for treason, but he was still considered a founding father of America with some positive accolades, and some of the records of the aforementioned two major offenses vary wildly. I think that his nebulous characterizations as both hero and villain might still put him in the Pretender class.
Still hope one day we get some famous pretenders from history like (one of the three)False Dimitri(s) or maybe even a Pretender Anastasia (Anna Anderson).

If I recall correctly Proto Merlin is supposed to become the Beast of the Stars while normal Merlin is the Beast of the planet, also apparently Baobhan Sith's entire personality is just a front used to protect herself, another possible reason for being a pretender

Okay but by the logic of the class, wouldn't Robin Hood be a strong contender? Since both historians and fate itself implies that Robin Hood was a mantle and not just one historical figure?
If the name robin hood itself is just a title then no, they can't become pretender class.
They need to stole identity from an actual person and living as them so the world will summoned them as heroic spirit instead of the real one.
@@rabbss830 I mean, that's assuming that, somewhere down the line, there wasn't an original Robin Hood in Fate lore, with others taking on the mantle throughout history. If that's the case, it could be a grey area. Honestly, given how out there Nasu can get, I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up with another Elder God situation or something equally wtf.

Now that we got "Hephaistion" in NA, I think I understand what the pretender class is meant to be. (This trend probably breaks with the future pretenders but I'm avoiding spoilers) a pretender is a servant that is actively using the saint graph of another. Vortigern was summoned in the servant body of Oberon, and "Hephaistion" is basically Mnemosyne with only Faker's memories.

It’s stated that she like male Merlin is a candidate for grand caster just that she would most likely reject the call to be summoned (so either if male Merlin can’t be grand caster she’s next or she was the next grand caster but overall said no giving it to male Merlin) another theory is that she was the real grand caster (since her speed chanting is at EX level, this might also give a reason as to why she could be a beast since she is the only one to be in this rank and it could be that either it’s isolating for her or that it’s a power up due to being a beast)
Though this is a weird possible reason but when you look at the other swimsuit summer servants only proto merlin to only have one swimsuit ascension and goes back to looking like a normal servant

Personally I'm waiting for them to introduce Angelica Ainsworth as a Gilgamesh Pretender. It'd be the perfect reason to have another Prisma Illiya event, even if she's just the welfare servant It'd still be good to see her be added since to me it'd make sense to have her as pretender.
