Cost under 100Euro spare parts are cheap, and it doesn't break down because there is nothing in it that can break. Yes 1.2 8v Punto is best Punto.

@@GutkowskiMarek fire engine do have a tendency to eat through head gasket cover and they arent really that good on the mpg (only feels mpg is ok because they're generally small city cars).
Gearbox has been enormously improved too on later models. Still, I'd take the multijet1.3 (not 1.9) any day of the week because of torque/way better mpg.

It is best because you can fix it with a hammer and a screwdriver on the side of the road. 1,2l 8 valve Punto is best because it is the simplest. As for eating through head gasket covers, yes it replaced mine, it was not much of a hustle. Like I said, cheap parts simple construction.

I had the same problem, change the lambda probe, be careful there are two! so look at the one who died.

@Ettore Villani yes. It was running then and is still running now. Cars are dirt cheap to buy. You just have to look for the ones that no one wants. Old Fiats are not sought after.

I actually just looked up the going rate for Fiat Punto in Poland most of them were between 200 and 400euro
I bought it in Poland. In Poland, you only pay tax if the value of the car is above a certain value. The insurance cost 3 time as much as the car does.
The car had 240.000km two previous owners and no backseat, it was registered as a van.
In Germany, I got a Ford Ka for 100Euro. I actually left the car there because I did not wanted to pay the import tax.
If you want a really cheap car, go to Germany buy one and register it in Czech republic. The Czech have the cheapest insurences in the EU. You are an EU citizen you can do that.

a ja mam tą zwykłą biedacką. Demon szybkości to to nie jest, ale na autostradzie spokojnie 140km/h, a jak się machnę z górki to nawet 155 było na liczniku.
Generalnie auto się psuje na potęgę, co chwilę coś z elektroniki pada, a od czasu do czasu coś z zawieszenia. Na plus jest to, że części są bardzo tanie, a auto pali mało nawet jak się ma nogę ciężką. Mi spala trochę poniżej 6l jak jeżdżę dynamicznie, jakbym się ślimaczył to ~
