Keep up the good videos. I really enjoy your high end tackle videos.
I've thought about making some myself since there is little info on high end equipment, but now I can just watch yours. Always like to see what others are using.
BTW, what reel do you have this poison adrena paired with?

Poison adrena ultima just released. Looks cool in the 5 piece set..easy for travel. I wonder if the feel and sensitivity in still there with the 5 breaks in the rod?

@chewy...i was looking into this rod as a dedicated jig rod but noticed it's rated for basically 1/2oz up to 1.5oz. i have a tatula elite skipping rod as my dedicated setup now, but like how light the adrenas are. the other rod that i was considering is the 7-3 MH rated for 3/8-1oz. How is the tip on this rod? Is it a true fast or extra fast? Have you thrown lighter jigs with it like 3/8oz? Would you recommend this as a dedicated jig rod?

I have both … I don’t know who’s bright idea it was to put coil guides on the $600 nrx casting rod??
The adrena is my pick hands down it’s just better all around …
I also just bought a conquest and that is perfection and it has a hook keeper 💪👌

I’m sending mine in for warranty. At the bottom of reel and where the handle meet there is silver accent ring and I guess wasn’t glued well. The first time I caught a fish with it I noticed my reel was moving side to side and thought I had not tightened the nut down. I can’t stand any slop in my fishing gear.

Glad to hear you say that about the sensitivity between the NRX and the Poison Adrena. Honestly, and it may be just me, but I can't really tell a difference. I've only had both rods for about 6 months so maybe I haven't used them enough, but for the money I would have to recommend the Adrena. I know that the NRX has the better warranty and if you are one of those guys who holds onto their rods forever it is probably the way to go. But frankly the NRX is old tech and I also like the guides better on my Adrena. It definitely casts better and is more accurate than the NRX and more versatile. And you are definitely right about the aesthetics being better on the Megabass and Adrena. Loomis needs to step up their game there. I'll sum it up by saying that I didn't pay full price for either rod and am very happy with both rods for the price I paid for them. However, if I had to trade one in today it would probably be the NRX even with the better warranty. Looking forward to your review on the Megabass Destroyer FMJ as I own that as well.

    • @manifestgtr
      @manifestgtr ปีที่แล้ว

I have a bunch of NRXs and one thing they’ve never had is superior casting performance. My Conquest, even my Legend X stuff seems to out-cast them in terms of accuracy and overall usability. That being said, I don’t think the Legend X, Conquest or Poison Adrena are quite as sensitive. You can build a solid mind’s eye of the underwater situation with any of them but the NRX seems just a bit more 3D than the others. It’s the one area where those rods still, truly hold their own, imo.

Update with replacement rod sent free of charge by Shimano. Thought the first rod was probably a lemon and gave the replacement a second chance.
Broke it in half on third trip out. Fishing from bank with 1/2 oz jackhammer. Set the hook into a couple bass that day and on my last cast of the night the rod blank snapped in half between the reel seat and first guide. I was lost for words. The bass were chomping that night too and I only brought one rod!! Super pissed!!
Not sure what you mean by “Very cautious”. I do have other imo high end rods (Dobyns dx and Megabass destroyer) that I keep in rods sleeves when not in use, stored on a rod rack, and set down carefully when switching between rods. I think I take good care of my equipment as well. Ive never had to boat flip anything over 4lbs plus I only fish from the bank so not much distance between bank and water. Hopefully you’re not telling me I have to also “baby” this rod when casting and setting the hook into a fish as well? Why would I get a $300+ rod and have to baby it when fishing (just my thoughts lol) Sigh* Very unfortunate since this rod has great sensitivity and yet again another disappointment.
I really want to like this rod but just not my luck I guess. I wouldn’t recommend this rod at all. I should’ve went with my gut feeling and sold the damn replacement. Now I have to send a broken rod in again and cross my fingers Shimano will give me some options….

Hey there. I am very interested in the Poison Adrena and would like your opinion. I am thinking about picking this rod up to be my all purpose rod (crankbait, texas rig, wacky rig, popper, and frog). I was thinking about the Medium-heavy Spinning rod (6'11") because I disliking using casting rods. Do you think this rod will do?
I am debating this over the Shimano Zodias (7'3") Medium-heavy because the Zodias will have less higher quality graphite composition, which means less chance of breakage. Now, I have seen pictures and heard from people who have had the Poison Adrena rods break on them. Do you think the Poison Adrena is still worth it, given that it might snap?
I mainly fish for bass (largemouth, smallmouth, spotted, white), trout, and stripers and in the past, I have used my 703sf Dobyns Sierra (medium-power) spinning rod and it has held up to this day to the abuse and fight against strong stripers. So, I'm looking for something strong and that could still fish the 5/8 oz lures with ease.

I’ve tried them all. Most the rods are sticks in comparison. Reality is to bite bullet for an extra $250-$275 is hard for people. Guys that have NRX’s really don’t even talk about rods. They just fish them. They know what they have. All it takes is that one fish in a tournament or to whoop your buddy and the money is nothing. And it does give you that little tik others don’t feel.
