  • Nike pays top athletes across many sports to use their products and promote and advertise their technology and designs.
Sponsors include Cristiano Ronaldo, Mo Farah, Rory McIlroy, and Emma Radacuna.
However, one sport, despite its huge audience, Nike doesn’t sponsor is F1. In this video, we’ll take a look at the potential reasons why.

Right, getting so many hateful messages over how I pronounce Nike. Where I'm from you get teased if you pronounce Nike like 'Nigh-Kee' - here it's just Nike. I understand that's not the American pronunciation, which is where the brand originated, but if you've just come to this comment section to write hate, please don't. I can take criticism but when you start making personal insults aside from 'Nike' that's where I draw the line.

Interesting! The Jordan brand has been making inroads into nascar via the denny Hamlin/ Michael Jordan co owned team. You'd think making the jump to other series wouldn't be a big stretch for them. Alpine switched over to kappa as their outfitter this year

Interesting video! The only thing I wanted to mention is that Under Armour is not a sponsor of Haas. This brand actually has an sponsorship agreement with Mick Schumacher. Once he leaves Haas (most probably by the end of this season) Under Armour will be out of the sport as well.

Still think it's ridiculous that the States will have 3 races. Austin is a great race, Miami was meh and so plastic and we don't need another street circuit (Las Vegas), which will arguably be even more plastic. We're losing great, historic circuits and replacing them with dull street circuits, not the F1 I once loved.

Interesting video. I think I'd ask the question "would Nike be interested in sponsoring F1 as a fashion brand rather than a sports brand?" Because for all the sports sponsorship, I'm sure Nike make a huge amount of sales based on fashion (or sports-fashion).

Actually a smart move by Nike to back out of F1 as shoes are their bread and butter. This is Puma’s game for shoes. Under Armor is more of an apparel based brand and actually make better dri fit equipment so they may have found a niche. Still think Nike missed out big time by not trying to get Lewis in an off track shoe.

I wonder if its partly due to not many people buying replica racing shoes. People wear running shoes, tennis shoes and basketball boots out and about on the street, but racing shoes? Not so much. Yeah, they'd also do team shirts and stuff, but I bet they make most money from the shoes, which wouldn't work so well in this case. Though why all the other sports brands don't have a problem with this... *shrug*

  • @QALibrary

Is Nike failing in their there strategy here - you do not need to grow your market where you dominate in? the returns for the outlay are normally zero or even negative - they should be pushing markets outside North America because they have a lower market share etc

Stellar analysis young lady. Keep up the good work and most of all, "remain true to who you are where you are!" Pronunciations are like feelings, they change over time and locale. Having a good grasp of your field of interest is foundational to good punditry. Next step is to take those facts and make some of your own logical projections. With that, you will strike a nerve somewhere with someone. This is your world to win young lady, keep stroking...

Now I'm old and I see the sport with eyes that can hearken all the way back to Monza '62 and the Tripps-Clark imbroglio and Clark's breakout season in '63.
