We were pinned down against 320 Taliban and we were hit hard and took casualties within mins of the fight. Our LT was shot in the neck and we lost him. I myself was ahot in the neck and another was shot in the lip and another in the jaw. We also lost SSG as well. This was June 25th 2011 and we were Bco 2-35 INF. He was combat camera, that’s their jobs. I know it sounds stupid, but that’s the job of being Army combat camera. We had them attached to us in Iraq sometimes, and we just wanted them out of the way when things popped off.

RIP SSG. Nigel Kelly 25 JUN 11. He was a GREAT SAPPER Leader, I’m happy I got to walk among men like him. 3BSTB 25TH Alpha Co. SAPPERS He was the one of the people that were killed on that mission when you were asking why that guy is “blogging” durning the fire fight.
My brother was an Infantryman in the US Army from 04-14. Sadly he never made it back to US Soil he was one of the unfortunates who was killed by an ied down in Kandahar. I’m now following in my brother’s footsteps in serving in the US Army but my parents wouldn’t allow me to be an 11b so here I am an 92Y can’t wait to be ship off to BCT.. Lol there’s a game called squad and it’s large scale Milsim gameplay. Not as complicated and large as Arma 3 but it’s way more polished and optimized. Anyways I see some jamsheed names in there. Pretty awesome

SSG Ryan Blum was a Squad Leader in 3rd PLT, A Co, 1-87IN, 1st BDE, 10th MTN DIV in Imam Sahib District, Kunduz Provence 2010-2011. The guy wearing the Go-Pro in all the videos is SPC Ganon who was one of his Team Leaders. Both were absolutely phenomenal combat leaders and it was an honor serving with them. I was the PSG for 1st PLT, but my platoon was attached to D Co in the Chahar Darreh District for the majority of this deployment.
There’s taliban footage on the documentary hornets nest, would recommend. There’s a great seen of the taliban getting blown up first hand with a missle of some sort.
Hey Rob I know you wont see this, but when I was in high school I got kicked out of all of my classes and was forced to take the ASVAB. I scored a 99, and was doing all my class work in my counclers office who was a retired Marine. He was the one who made me take the ASVAB. When my scores came in every single recruiter in the state showed up to his office to find out who I was and talk to me. I swiftly made my way to the parking lot so they couldnt find me, but after watching your channel for the past 4 years I always wonder what I could have done in the military. Thank you for your service and keeping me sane for the past 4 years.

The smile and sparkle in your eyes as you watch the firefight videos tells me that being in active duty combat was when you were happiest and had the greatest sense of fulfillment and accomplishment.
Rob, that first video shot of a vehicle was a MaxxPro Recovery Vehicle (MRV). I was the MaxxPro Parts manager at Navistar Defense and I spec'd out all of the BII on that truck. You ever see an exothermic cutter in action? You could make a video of cutting a car in half in about 60 seconds with one of those.

It’s some pretty hard footage to watch and it’s not because you can hear mike yelling for Marcus or hearing the sheer amount of gunfire going off but because the footage itself is very boring and shaky. Also fun fact the guy recording got smoked a few years later by coalition forces 😂
