Well . . . this isn't Horowitz. But it does sound a bit like me banging around at it -mostly accurately - when I was in college. Best to take this down, honestly.
still trying to figure out who plays this, and i have dozens of recordings of this as a major Brahms addict.. Somehow am always attracted to pieces I felt I could never do justice with and be truly happy with. Some Brahms may sound simple but to pay it well is truly hard. Probably a student recording. Not a major pianist.
When I googled and found this recording of Horowitz I was full of anticipation. I turned down the lights, closed my eyes, so that I could take it all in and hear how this master would interpret this work. My first thought was what happened to Horowitz? I tried to find something of the Horowitz I knew. How could he take such a tender work and play it in a way I can only describe as “martial”? This can’t be Horowitz. I think it’s Vladimir Horrible! Colorless, annoying even. The only thing it accomplishes is to remind someone that the piano is a percussion instrument - as it was hammered relentlessly. I had to read the comments to make sure I had not lost my ear and my mind. Relieved to see I hadn’t. So now in addition to fake news, we’ve got fake music! Appalling...
SHAME on the wretched human being who posted this. Mr. Horowitz is not able to defend himself against such a scandalous and mean spirited attempt at making him look and sound bad. Mr. Horowitz brought unspeakable joy to us who know and can hear. I would gladly spit in your face - the ultimate insult - for posting this, Citizen92!!
WOOOW!!! Greatest Brahms recording on record!!!! Only Horowitz could have played like this!!!!! What tone!!!!!! What control!!!!!!! What music!!!!!!!! What noise!!!!!!!!!
Thank you to all the nay-sayers. I was sure it was not very inspired, but glad to have the confirmation. Kinda reminds me of hearing Jon Nakamatsu on The Emperor at the California in San Jose... best I could say was "He played all the notes".
Dreadful interpretation, totally amateurish...what a stupid, nasty, insulting, and slanderous a thing to label this brutally inept effort a Horowitz performance...! a special place in hell...
AHAHAH No way this is Horowitz this is not Horowitz's tone. This is a fraudulent post by a mediocre amateur pianist deifnitely lacking the technique to play this. The Cnatabile of Horowitz is 100x times superior to this.
Let's be fair . . . this could be Horowitz before his second birthday.
There is an error in 2:37 , wrong note

A student who ought to go out and play rugby and stop abusing this poor innocent piano...

This is Horowitz as much as my farts are Rubinstein.

You turned down the lights, I turned off the volume.
My Friend invented the name Horrorwitz 🙂
Why you want to offend the name of Horowitz......
This must be Brian Horowitz.
Oh, him again...

Sounds like the pianos on the street in downtown SRQ awhile back.

I like Arthur Jussen's playing of this piece! Nice video and Arthur is so easy on the eyes!
Yes but isn't Horowitz!
This does not sound like Horowitz!
This doesn't even qualify as a bad joke...
never Horowitz, NEVER! a pupil
Unlikely Horow but what matter. You shouldn't make
GREAT HORO.
This is not Vladimir Horowitz 😉
listen to the tone, of course it Horowitz..... it's slower than I expected, but, after listening to it, I'm convinced....he's the best
Even if it is Horowitz, you’re deluded if you think this is a good rendition
Not only is this not Horowitz, it includes wrong notes! It's all wrong--no voicing, and no point in going on...
No way this is Horowitz. No.
If that's Horowitz, then I'm José Iturbi! It's TERRIBLE!!!!!!!
Maybe Sam z
HOROWITZ from Teaneck New Jersey 😮? an early April Fool's joke ?,???
LOL this is nothing like Horowitz.
I don't think it's Horowitz either. Controlled, but played like a march with no horowitz finesse.
Nice work Sherlock!
is this really horowitz?
Yup, take it from me, Julius Ceasar.
..could be the evidence that it is Horowitz :) :) :)
Dreadful interpretation, totally amateurish...what a stupid, nasty, insulting, and slanderous a thing to label this brutally inept effort a Horowitz performance...! a special place in hell...
Way. Too. Slow. (Did I mention plodding?)
This is NOT Horowitz. It's NOT his touch, his sound, his interpretation. Nope.
Duh!
por que mienten?
This CANNOT be Horowitz! Take it down, or credit (discredit!) the correct pianist. This sounds like a bad student trying to bang his way through it.
It can't be Horowitz. There are mistakes in the middle part. Sounds very stiff an a bit 'unmusical' /infantile
Fake recording...
Yikes. NOT Horowitz.
It's not Horowitz. Aside from the fact that the pianist stinks, Horowitz never recorded this piece.
Reported
FAKE.
this is NOT horowitz.
I agree!! fake
Fakeeee
Horrible...very slow
Fake
Anche un bambino arriva a capire che questo non è Horowitz... Fake
Or just the fact that it sucks.
