    Now you know where Legolas got his agility from. Surfing in those trees. Lol.
    And the crazy thing is that Smaug wasn’t even the biggest dragon in Middle Earth. He’s actually quite small compared to his ancestors.

      He might as well be Mushu from Mulan compared to Ancalagon the Black. Truly frightening stuff.

    you are very right in your thinking that after the ring was destroyed, Frodo didn't "come back to normal". The burden of being the ringbearer, his journey, the wound from the nazgul knife which never fully healed and never will....that's also the reason why he took the boat to the west and didn't stay in middle earth, to better weather the suffering that will leave him only after his death
    thx for the reaction, I've enjoyed it

      I loved seeing this too. A lot of folks seem sad and confused at Frodo leaving, not realizing it's the only way for him to feel peace and joy again. ♥

    Man, believe me, I have stopped over 15 years ago counting the times I watched LotR. The number was 300. I didn’t stop watching.
    Every damn time I watch your reactions to the LotR or Hobbit movies, you tell me something I haven’t realized before.
    This. Is. Amazing.
    Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, theories and emotions.
    Love your excitement to recognizing Legolas and the “wee lad” Gimli as well.

    One thing not mentioned in the special features but shown in them, is when Bilbo looks back and sees an identical him, the double was played by the actor who played Merridoc Brandybuck from LOTR.
    The practical shots of the river the actors could have died, they were put in specially designed barrels and sent down rapids. The barrels had to be specially made so they wouldn't flip over, the normal ones kept flipping over because the actors' torsos are heavier than their legs. They put a gopro on two of the barrels to get the POV shots down the river.

    I don't get why these 3 movies get so much bad press.....for me they are brilliant. I think that because TLOTR Trilogy was so good and so ground breaking whatever came next was never going to live up to it. Great reaction bro, Evangeline Lilly plays Turiel 😍 she also plays Kate in Lost ( don't know if you seen it) 👊🇬🇧

      They get bad press because of that made up character, the alteration to Azog's death (outside Moria in that huge battle), and the addition of stuff from The Silmarillion.

    6:00 actually, yeah that might be why Frodo and Bilbo went with the elves, because of having worn that ring. Maybe it was something else ring related, but in the movie at least, Frodo talks about how not everything was saved for him. And the Ringwraith wound still ached. (Can’t quite remember how it went in the books.)
    I assume its because even if it’s in a box or cabinet, it still belonged to Bilbo. Gollum lost the ring when he wasn’t wearing it, so he couldn’t see it at the time and didn’t immediately know what happened to it. So I think its mainly they know where it is and that it’s theirs, even if there’s also a pull to look at and then put on the ring sometimes too.
    Also to be fair to Tauriel, Legolas’s father basically ordered her to friendzone him lol. I mean it would be fine if she chose to just be his friend as well of course. While the love triangle felt very forced to me, I liked that Legolas decided to put being a decent individual above jealousy and help Tauriel because he cared about her and her cause rather than because he hoped she would pay him back.

    Tolkien's dragons are terrifying. With most of them, when making eye contact lesser beings would be litteraly petrified and some would go (if temporarily) mad. As if they could telepathically influence people. And they would absolutely reek of a stench so unbearable people would be unable to fight. Hence Bilbo's not appreciating smaugs breath.

  • @stacebrewer
    @stacebrewer ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Gandalf is essentially a demi-god. sent to middle earth to help guide the people of middle earth. He's really not supposed to use his powers until necessary. His purpose is to guide the people of middle earth. Helping THEM defeat Sauron. Same with the eagles really.

    I'm afraid your basic premise is incorrect. In the books, it is noted that Bilbo did use the ring once he returned home, usually to avoid the Sackville-Baggins family. :P Also anyone else he didn't particularly feel like dealing with at the time, but it was used. Not all the time, like Smeagol would have before he was banished from his family, but also with no ill-will. Add to that the benign nature of the way he come into possession of it, explains why he took so little damage from it, though like Smeagol he was never really free from the desire for it.

    Oh, you never noticed the Black Ithilien Ranger (a stuntman, I think) in Faramir's company? He's only on screen for a couple of seconds so he is easy to miss. Yes, Peter Jackson made Lake-town fairly diverse, but it was the major trading center in the North so it makes some sense that some of its residents would be foreigners.
    The "last light of Durin's Day" was at sundown in the book. Making it moonlight was a change made by Peter Jackson to add (unneeded) suspense.

    In TLOTRs, Peter Jackson's problems were how he would make the movie short because its 3 books is too broad. Now in The Hobbit, his problem were how he will make it long because the book'😮s too short.

    Last light of During's day, because day ends at midnight or what ever. There is no such thing as During's night. It's day and if it was last light of During's night it would mean just before dawn and wouldn't make sense as it would not be During's day anymore.

    I'm glad to hear someone else say that Beorn's bear form doesn't look all that bear-like. I was beginning to think it was just me. But then, the wargs don't look very wolf-like, either, so maybe Weta Digital or whoever just didn't look at enough pictures of real animals? I mean, the spiders seem good, and Smaug is awesome (though he's not supposed to look like any particular real creature), but the CGI mammals are...off. Of course, Weta also did Narnia (or at least I think they did), and the animals in those films look great, so maybe this was a (highly questionable) creative choice rather than an inability to do it right.

    • @xtealz1993
      @xtealz1993 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If wargs straight up looked like real wolves it would not have felt right imo. Real wolves are quite elegant and majestic so I agree with the more evil looking wargs. It was definitely a purposeful directors choice rather than not knowing how real wolves look like wtf?!

    Play Dragon Age: Origins bro, if you haven't already. You're a good reactor when it comes to storytelling (in films), and I'm curious on how you interact with the story in Dragon Age. The way you navigate the dialogues and decisions you make will have consequences, impacting the story.
    And you get to rizz the characters too 😂

    The Eagles are Eagles, Barry. Not Maia like some people mistakenly think. They're sentient, giant eagles; guardians of fauna like Ents are of flora. Tolkien did consider making the eagles the angelic beings at one point, but later dismissed it. This is why some people get confused. ♥
    Also there's a wide variety of colors of skin in Middle Earth and they don't exclusively stay in their region. If anything, Peter Jackson's very specific casting gave a lot of people the wrong idea about what LOTR looks like. Even among the Hobbits there's those of brown skin.

    There are black people in Tolkien's world, mostly they are living in south regions of the middle earth with Haradrims, as it was in middle-ages there aren't interracial and intercultural cities in this world, but Dale was big trade city, so there are people from all over middle earth

    • @nataliefaust7959
      @nataliefaust7959 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It doesn't help the mistaken modern notion that only white people lived or traveled in medieval Europe. Far from it. Hell even some of King Arthur's Knights were men of color in the legendarium. Vikings traded with Persia and Africa. Merchants covered vast distance. Etc.
