I would have loved to have seen her in concert, when had the chance was busy with other things. All the same, my appreciation for her has grown more over the years, weird in some ways I know, but whilst I liked her from her initial intro in the early 90s, I appreciate her more in the last so many years. Also, I only like her earlier stuff, not as much the later ones. @@LaCheleWallace I was born in 1984 cool you found some b sides so this song slipping away, do you think of me, aren't new to you I only found 1 Mariah import that didn't play I had to return it 😠😠😠😠🤬.
I used to do the same thing!! Those singles I bought back then are still my treasures!
This song takes me back to such a dark cold place but it’s so beautiful at the same time. Never fails to literally bring tears to my eyes. Especially the last minute and a half of the song. Like the calm after a storm…..
Me too, but I!m crying for myself that I've lost my faith in love a long time ago.
One of the best background vocalist in the world. This song will never loose its touch - Mariah Carey at her BEST!
The feels with this song... so moving and so perfect 👑👑
❤
I hope her next album has deep cuts like this, I loved when she used choirs and had bridges with ambiguous male singers. Complements the song perfectly. Magic 💕
"ambiguous male singers". same vibes with the first time i heard her version of do you know where you're going to. it was trey on the "before we see" part i think. i really appreciate it when she lets other people add things like that in her songs to great effect :)
Dennis Tuboro Yes I know the part you’re referring to! I love those vocal layers.
I'm a Will Downing fan so I recognized his voice right away...and your comment is on point! I love "Whenever You Call"....I sing it out loud most days
Yes!
When a woman is fed up everything changes the dynamics and the tables turn .😊❤❤❤❤🎉
One of my favorites from the “Music Box” album. Still have the original CD which I bought ages ago 😍
I adore Mariah Carey with everything in me and her music has always touched me. There has never and will never be a diva like her, not even Whitney. Yeah you heard me right.
So well said, I grew up listening to Whitney, loved her songs, however, Mariah is just out of this world, this song with a handful of other MC songs, I still listen to and I'm now in my 50s
@@aryandash8640 I know almost two hundred Mariah Carey songs and there was not a single one that didn't impress me. I've become an expert on her music. My knowledge of Mariah is not disprovable. The truth is found through tons of research and then you truly know who the best is.
@@nathannelson6843 Hats off to you bud!! Respect! Her songs, to me, evoke memories of younger times but in a way that it brings it right back with all the emotions and feelings of that time, memories that I no longer knew I had. That is the power of her songs, her soul and delivery.
I actually saw her in the real once, like a metre away. It was the early 00s and I was coming away from a meeting at a club in London, but the exit was temp blocked and then she walked through with her entourage. She was amazing looking and larger than life. This was just before she went off into a phase of mental health issues.
@@aryandash8640 Thanks, I appreciate that! I've been to her concert twice and met her, and she was very sweet to me. Mariah Carey's music has done a lot for me! The unique emotional touch of Mariah's voice and deep R&B songs touch me spiritually in a way that's hard to describe and saved me years ago from mental health crisis. When I'm listening to her I feel like I've been carried into another magical world, I feel like I'm in a dream which helps me when I'm depressed. I'm going to give you a list of some of the Mariah Carey songs that speak to me and my life story and have had an amazing impact on me. Vision of Love, There's Got To Be A Way, Love Takes Time, All In Your Mind, Make It Happen, Music Box, Dreamlover, Through The Rain, Close My Eyes, My All, We Belong Together, Fly Like a Bird, Can't Take That Away, Angels Cry, HATEU, You're Mine Eternal, Supernatural, Butterfly, I Stay In Love. Do you know some of those good ones?
@@nathannelson6843 Wow and thanks so much for sharing these songs. Some of my favourites are Underneath the Stars, Hero, Without You, All I've Ever Wanted, Everything Fades Away (this track), Always Be My Baby, I'll Be There, Love Takes Time and many others inc the ones you have mentioned.
Bless you for her soulless to help you through difficult period(s) of your life
We are all blessed in some way to have the pleasure of her songs whilst she is still here and not some further generation that will marvel at her and wish they had lived during her existence.
Oh wow I've never heard this track before. Very beautiful.
thats because its an old album she made ages ago girl..
I got spiritual awakening listening to this.
i can't imagine this being covered or sung by anyone else! her tone is rarity itself and this won't sound right without this kind of beautiful, haunting tone of hers. I also got chills hearing deep male voice on this track, I think it adds to the overall haunting sound, in a good way of course.
She really made Grown Folks music in the earliest stage of her career. Music Box was her best era during this time. Hands down.
this song is definitely in my top 3 mariah songs. this song makes me rethink life and makes me emotional.
Not only her vocal abilities are extraordinary, but the emotion she delivers is what makes her a legend, of course there's also her writing and production, her music always hits me right in the feels and i love her for it.
We need a Mariah Carey Broadway musical but who can sing it ? Nobody 🥺😭
F*cking nobody
Mariah
Not gonna happened
@Tracy G but she sung it though...
Tori Kelly could but yeah not even close.
Well, once again, after, i don't know 10 or more times in between reading
most of the comments and pressing LIKE , this one song somehow leaves me craving to listen to it one more time. I especially like the video with your crew and JoJo, same thing over and over.
I must say MARIAH this one song is overwhelming, it is. ❤umc
"Baby I don't love you like before" How thoughtful, instead of "Baby I don't love you anymore "
Totally agreed ! There is so much to say about it
One of her masterpieces. Addicted to it forever. I love you Mariah
in my humble opinion this is Mariah's best song.
This song is so much better than a lot of her #1's ... One of my favourite of her , so beautiful
This song also on the "Music Box" album as a bonus tracks.
It's a hauntly,holy,beautiful song ✨️💕
WOW, this song is amazing! Her voice is MAGNIFICENT. Those harmonies with her backup singers are so smooth and beautiful.
I will never forget how many times I used to listen to this song at night time in my teens. The melody, her voice… everything is just amazing. Hands down one of my very favourites by Mariah
the instruments and her beautiful voice make brilliant music and a good rhythm
Omg this song is so underrated and the vocals are so out of this world. This should have been nominated for best vocal performance at the least.
Happy Birthday, Mariah Carey.
You will never fade away "Babydoll".
This song is so underrated. Haunting yet beautiful.
what a masterpiece. deeply felt
I can't get past
"So hard for me to let you go
Don't leave me standing in the cold
Oh baby, give it one more chance
I know that we can make it last
Just let me love you one more time
'Cause I don't wanna lose my mind
So hard for me to let you go
So hard for me to let you go"
I keep replaying that part over and over again and again ... i feel it every time!
Superb verse by Will Downing 3:0 mins 💗
Why She didn't Release this?? This Song is a MASTERPIECE!!! 🦋🦋🦋🦋
Because the record label thought that the US didn’t need this song. They were wrong.
@@brentduanefoster damn right they were wrong the import copies had it years ago 😁😁😁.
@@brentduanefoster damn right they were WRONG shame on Sony for not believing in her this song is beautiful the background vocals my goodness!!!.
@@brentduanefoster UK, Australia, Japan they had it in 1993 because they always got bonus Mariah songs especially Asia .
music lover1984 It couldn’t have been me in the room. I would’ve rallied so hard for this song to make the U.S. release.
But, better late than never, I guess.
Amazing Mariah, this is a wonderful song, her performance is perfect!!! It reminds me why I´ve been her fan for more than 25 years!!! # 1 Mimi!!!
This is dark serious Mariah & im so here for it - a smoldering, unapologetic break up ballad by the master r&b ballad writer of our times This is heartbreaking quintessential Mariah.
💔💔💔💔💔🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
A+
She’s truly a master at her craft!
If only Mariah would know how much she was important to kids , back in the early 90's
Music box was our guidance and emotional accompany when we felt our first love , and always played this album at our grade party when we wanted to "slowdance" with our first love , or later at our house when we got back from the party and wanted to think about our first love
Mariah was a true angel back then , and will be always remembered as a genuine source of love and maturation emotions
I ended a three year relationship recently and can relate to this 1000% and I love Mariah for this.
The first time I heard this song I was left speechless. I was was in shock and awe. One of her best songs. The outro is perfection. So happy we get this on the album. I have a cd with this as the bside and I cherished it for years.
I wish “there for me” was on rarities. I just bought the album. You should all buy it too.
we'd probably have it on glitter week. *cross fingers*

Nothing ever stays the same..
True fact 😢
This song is haunting in the most perfect way
A masterpiece!!!!
This song is so hauntingly beautiful. This and “Do You Think Of Me” are my favorite moody Mariah songs. I listen to them every day on the way to work before the sun comes up and it’s such a peaceful start to my day 💙💙💙
Is that Will Downing doing the bridge section lead vocal there!!!??? Incredible vocals, lead and background. The theme is dark and sombre, yet catchy at the same time. One of her best!!!😍❤❤❤

WOW! Just wow!
A song that would be the highlight of anybody else thats having a career in singing. This song is so devastating, and such an original work of heartbroken art, this is MC the master of melancholy in full bloom. This hidden gem underlines how underrated Mariahs pen game remains today.
Soulful, modern R&B at its most sophisticated A+
Such a beautiful song and the backing music is so lovely.
This song represents this year. 😭
it reminds you of all the feelings you experienced the first time you heard the song... the feels, god.
Mariah was at her best in the 90s! Amazing! ❤🔥 🎤 🎼 🎶 🎵
I totally agree. Mariah recorded some of the most beautiful songs ever during this time (lyrically, vocally and sonically).
