In Central Europe, people are still battling with the consequences of the floods. In Saxony, the water levels of the Elbe are rising, while clean-up operations are underway in Poland and Austria. The cities of Oława and Kłodzko are particularly affected, where helpers are reinforcing dykes and clearing away the rubble. In Austria, a dam burst hit the Dürrenrohr thermal power station, leaving thousands of people without district heating. Despite the clean-up operations already underway, the situation remains tense. There are also avalanche warnings in the Alpine regions, and mountain rescue services are on alert.
