    Met this guy today. He is definitely as nice of a guy as he seems in his videos. I think he was a little cautious about me at first. I’m not the friendliest looking person. Lol!!! But I did just walk up to him and ask him what his name was!! Alex thanks for the conversation and safe travels.

    This is the best video that I've seen on this topic. You've really broken everything down nicely. I just have one question about plates. If I understand correctly, once the driver leases on to a company, his/her vehicle is registered under that company and any states that the vehicle drives through regularly would have to be added to the plates for tax purposes. Can you elaborate on this subject? Thank you.

    Who pays and applies for IFTA? Should the driver pay for fuel and their own maintenance program? How do you pay your drivers? Does the driver bill the shippers/brokers? Or do you bill them and then pay the driver after dispatch and factor fees? I'm sure everyone does it differently, but just curious as to what works best?

    • @JohnTheMexicanic
      @JohnTheMexicanic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You apply for IFTA since their leased onto your company. Their running out of state miles under your company not their own. Independent contractors pay for their own fuel and maintenance not you, they're not company drivers. I send all my invoices to my factoring company, pay the driver 85% of each load, charger 15% of each load and do deductions at the end which is just insurance once a week. And a trick for insurance so you won't pay alot is have the vehicle insured with liability and cargo only, no driver. Most and all of the big companies do it that way. Companies don't necessarily care about your record, sure they wana know if you've crashed or not (which that's someone I might not hire) but I would hire someone that has speeding tickets or a violation for not obey the stop sign. It's stupid that insurance would wana charge a butt load just becuase you disobeyed a freaking stop sign. And Independent contractors have the right to have their own physical damage and non trucking liability but they can't have auto liability or cargo. I use airtable to keep track of loads and the loads drivers have taken and delivered.
