Do you know how bad a monarchy would be today? It would literally become a surveillance state within 2 seconds and function as a modern day dictatorship but patrilineal (except for coups, they’d still exist)
A curiosity about Portugal. In the Second World War, the "Base das Lages" in "Madeira" housed 32 US atomic bombs because this island was in the middle of the Atlantic Sea and was a strategic position. The population that lived near the "base das lages" never knew the terror that was there. (I know this because I'm Portuguese)
Oh god, i'm having this weird uncanny valley feeling where i know it's another lenguage and still the cadence of the words and the accent on the vocals makes me feel like i'm listening my local italian dialect. Kinda like hearing some old men having a discussion in another room. I can't make out the words but i can recognize the sounds.
The general tone is sad and desperate but you can definitely hear some hope in there. This is what makes it so beautiful even if I can't understand a single word of portugese

In the Second World War, the "Base das Lages" in "Madeira" housed 32 US atomic bombs because this island was in the middle of the Atlantic Sea and was a strategic position.
