thank you for making this, glad that im not the only one having these thoughts even if im not currently at FAANG. I especially loved your take on not having to take on debt and paying off your home in cash, yep thats the same mindset im in!
I had similar aspirations but lost motivation. You trade the office politics for sales and marketing your own business. In both cases, I think the actual technical part (can you program it) is not the hardest aspect. I am okay with modest living, so the rat race until FIRE is likely my way out
excited for the future where this channel is going, really rooting for you. i think a lot of us followers can relate to your videos in a lot of ways, so just keeping doing you craacking faang :)
Yeah, this seems like the typical logical flow. The way this tends to fail is that people underestimate the difficulty of entrepreneurship, or the speed of modern trend cycles. I think this'll all be easier if META 4xes or something! You'll be fine either way but GL~
I hear you. Everything you said about how you feel about Meta, learning, etc & moving to a smaller company it makes sense. HOWEVER, I’m laughing, because I feel the exact opposite. I think by moving to Meta I’d learn more & get better at this craft called software engineering. It’s just interesting that our premise, where we are coming from is the same but we end up going in opposing directions. Perspectives are so interesting. I wish you the best. I’d definitely watch content about creating / learning about micro saas etc. Idk. Maybe i’m sipping on the FAANG koolaide. Wish me luck, I have a Meta 1st round in a few days. 😂
It's really interesting how much your thoughts and plans resonate with my own goals and future plans. I also think micro SAAS or small apps seems like the way to go in order to reach financial freedom. To me personally, it makes more sense than the startup route, which seems more like a lottery ticket. I find it interesting that you mentioned the growth at FAANG is more incrementally than it is exponential, but I guess it makes sense if the plans for growth go more the managerial route. I'm super interested in the lithuanian youtuber you mentioned. Could you drop the link to his channel?
Hey bro, I'm loving this content as a Senior CS student about to graduate. I recently finished my interview loop with Meta + Google and I'm waiting to hear back. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what you would've done differently at the start of your FAANG job and what skills you wish you had developed before : )
To be honest, looking back at it I don't regret any of the decisions or choices I made with respect to my career. They all brought me to where I am today and I'm more than delighted with how it all turned out. Sure I probably didn't take the most direct path and there were a lot of bumps and set-backs along the road but ultimately I got to where I wanted to be and am happy with the trajectory of things. The only thing I regret is selling my $META RSU vests in 2022/2023 at such low prices lol... If I held until now when it's $600+ I'd be a lot richer 🤑

It all comes down to being from the same village as the manager or being the same ethnicity as the manager if you want to be successful in FAANG
What is the channel name of the TH-camr who makes apps? Ivar?
