I resided in Chitown Metro for 25 years from 1980 to 2005... I had a good career there as a machinist until most of that trade go offshored to Asia and other developing countries and the cheap labor... Manufacturing had been the mainstay of Chicago... Not now, much of those factories are vacant, another part of the rust belt, and even more gang activity has taken hold as a result... I would _never_ go back to Chicago Metro now... Unless you're into logistics, or have some sort of financial reason to be there, it's just not the place to go, in my opinion...
