Yeah. Deakin and Francis has a really cool collection of cufflinks. They have the absolutely beautiful high-end stuff, but they also have some really interesting catchy things as well !
Kirby Allison he helped with the conversation as well which was probably great for you compared to some others. You do well especially when some don’t give you much to work with.

Kirby! I loved this tour of Piccadilly Arcade! Being able to visit each of the shops is an amazing education as to each of the brands and to see how that all contribute to the whole wardrobe. What I would like to see is all this that Kirby Allison is doing in Europe, is to bring all this to the United States. Mens bespoke suits, bespoke shoes. Mens full service of attire 👌. Everything that makes a man feel great. Thank you Kirby for all that you do.

Astounding,I live and work in London and these arcades are an anathema to me,not any more,hubby and sons are about to be fitted out with some suits after much saving.
Me too I've walked thru this probably 5 times and never noticed these shops. Especially watch straps, I have a big vintage collection and that is helpful!

I have been Budd customer for over 30 years. I chose Budd Shirtmakers after being treated so appallingly over the road at Turnbull and Asser and I’m so happy I ended up at Budd. It’s my favourite shop on Earth!
Dressing gowns, pyjamas, ties, bespoke shirts, black tie they can advise you on the lot. Incredible, knowledgeable staff that can’t wait to be of service - many of them I consider friends.
New and Lingwood are not a bad crowd either - a tad snooty at times but that’s easily sorted!

Philo68 Haha. Yes. Spot on in every regard. Budd Shirtmaker is really a gem. They do exceptional shirts and are the only West End shirtmaker actually cutting all of their shirts right in London. Most do everything off-premises. And the Shirtmakers at Budd, Darrin and James, all both stand-up guys who are incredibly-talented and really personify the quiet, discrete service that London is so well-known for (yet is increasingly difficult to find). And, of course, when it comes to formal accouterment, there is no better shop in the world.
I’ve never had the courage to call Mr Rowley by his name Andy either. My hat is off to you Kirby! What an arcade - what a video. Mt Brummell himself would approve!
Philo68 You know, he is such an amazingly personable and friendly guy, but you know you’re right, I probably should have addressed him by his surname! He certainly deserves the respect. Probably few people in London more knowledgeable about formal attire than Mr. Rowley.
@@Philo68 Interesting you had that experience, personally have found Turnbull and Asser's service to be exceptional, but I imagine as a larger shop they have a larger number of staff and possibly a bad egg or two.
barnabylovell it happened for a reason and I’m glad it did. I could (and perhaps should) have flared up at my treatment. That said, I was 17 years old and wanted to appear a refined young man. I cut my losses and got the royal treatment and sartorial advice from Budd.
I enjoy six different bespoke Shirtmakers and Turnbull and Asser ain’t one of them. I have purchased items from their beautiful store in the past but once bitten...

I love how Kirby always comments on the great things that a gentleman needs to have.
Up until 1:48 you have mentioned 3 times that they are the foremost experts in white&black tie.
I agree that repetition is important but spacing out this point might have made it a bit less distracting.
It would also be great if you could show the name of the shops in the same way that you show the name of the people there, in those blue and white boxes. Might make it easier to write them down and avoid misspelling when looking for their websites. Not a big issue in this case since they are all in the video description of course.

The inscription at the bottom of the statue is one of the greatest! I love that corner. New & Lingwood is such a beautiful frame to Piccadilly Arcade and then with Jerymn Street right there.

Nice video. I have gone to Budd several times. I have purchased some neckties and mtm shirts from them. But I have never gone into the other shops in the Piccadilly Arcade. Now after watching this video, the next time I am in London I will make sure to visit these other shops. Please do more of these walking tour videos.

The Piccadilly arcade is just an awesome place to shop.. and a short walk from there you will get to JJ Fox Cigar lounge, where you can lit and have a nice cup of coffee..

Almost 40 years ago I tagged along on a shopping trip with a zillionaire's son and the Piccadilly arcade was one of the fabulous places we went shopping! Another was Asprey's, I think. Quite an experience! Money was literally no object!

I love Mr. Mundy stone face silence when Kirby refers to him as you guys. It’s like if I could read Mundy’s mind it’s “ WTF , did you just refer to me as you guys ?” Shortly thereafter Mundy refers to his Texas customer as Chaps. Kirby I’m a fan but I think Mundy is probably asking “ what hole from Texas did this chap crawl out of ? Hooterville ? LOL !

Thanks to you Kirby today I went and bought myself a shirt from Budd. Absolutely outstanding customer service and top quality 👔 Thank you for sharing these wonderful businesses:) I mentioned you to them and they knew who you were naturally, I spoke to a young fellow called James, I’m not sure if you’ve talked to him.
Having worked at Aspreys in the mid 80s and so was down the road from the Burlington Arcade I can say it really was another world of opulence and wealth yet the homeless problem was and is a terrible reminder of the chasm that exists between the haves and have nots.
Cuffs for shirts 👔 are interesting 🧐 and questionable 🤨 especially skulls and grunt pig. Nice stores.
Great show. Just notice though, that the questions seem a bit lengthy - almost every person interviewed at some point will stutter when trying to answer a question they thought was finished - only to find that it continues for a few more sentences
And who's fault is that for not waiting to speak, or indeed stopping to think before they speak? Something to think about...

There is so much great stuff we'd love to film in London... we have our Savile Row Walking Tour coming out soon. It's a true masterpiece. We have a Jerymn Street Walking Tour that has been on the shelf for a long time that we need to finish, also.
Very enjoyable video - pity you missed visiting the windowless basement in Budd where the shirt cutting takes place! Do consider, Kirby, a luxury watches tour of the Royal Exchange in the City, just opposite the Bank of England. It’s also the place where stock trading started in the late 1600’s and where international loan finance began in the early 1800’s.

The "you guys" habit must be a Pavlovian reflex. And Adeney is pronounced "Aid-ney". Apart from that, an informative video. I am old enough to remember when Swaine, Adeney, Brigg & Sons had a large five-floor shop next to Fortnum's on Piccadilly, and New & Lingwood a shop in Cambridge opposite King's College (the sister college of Eton). As others have mentioned, Mr. Rowley deserves to be addressed correctly. Budd sells grosgrain silk cummerbunds, which are now quite rare, and bib front shirts; an excellent shop. And the pharmacy of Santa Maria Novella has the most divine toiletry products.
Haha. Yes, "you guys" is definitely reflexive. Part of the dialect across the pond. It is exciting to see that Swaine, Adeney and Benson & Clegg should have by now launched their renovated spaces! I am happy to see these brands expand!
@@kirbyallison Can I suggest you visit some other umbrella makers in London? James Smith is a great institution for example and the shop is a glorious example of Victorian retail fitting.
