My Emp made a really nice burrow with multiple entrances, do i really have to destroy it when i change his substrate? id feel really bad about it since it seems like a rather complex tunnel system and i see him maintain it almost every night.

+Zachary Limbaugh You might actually want to put the heat mat on the side of the tank since these scorpions dig down to cool off. If you put the heat mat at the bottom and they dig down to cool off, they are just going to get hotter but the scorpions don't realize this since they run on instinct

You forgot a couple of things to mention in your care for em. Cleanup crews are also essential for your scorpion's survival like springtails and dwarf isopods just in case your scorpion decided to take a dump in well hidden spots inside its cage.. Springtails will eat fungus and molds growing inside your moist tank. I highly recommend them for your scorpion's longevity since they are in fact present in all habitats of every species of forest scorpions in the tropics..

I have a quick question. I apparently had a pregnant cricket inside of my scorpion's tank because I now notice many little pinheads running around the tank. Should I try to clean out the tank to eradicate them? I'm trying to avoid stress, but I don't know if this is necessary.
I'd say take out the scorpion and run the tank under hot water to kill all the crickets and clean the tank as usual. The little crickets will die either way due to lack of food but they will hurt your scorpion so it's best to kill them asap

true emperors are rare due to the fact that the import of this species has been banned. any that you buy will have to be captive bred. due to the import ban, they have become expensive. $100 or more for a young one is about the average amount you'll find them for.
Sumi Yap noooooo! Along with any captive pet. You should NEVER feed them anything that you got outside(or inside) as you aren’t sure if it has any harmful chemicals or parasites. It’s best to just go to a pet store

PatriotFox you could get him a deeper tank and find a tank ornament that has multiple holes then just bury it.
