I was at this show, it was 2006. Big Black played four songs, and then Steve said "we're never doing this again." Also had Man Or Astroman and Killdozer! That's Jeff Pezzatti from Naked Raygun on bass.
Those guitars sound magnificent and brutal and also nice to listen the bass, something not that common in loud music (black metal, death metal, noise rock)
You used to be able to get 'em at the big-box-style instrument store in my city. A place called Long & McQuade, but you should be able to buy them at most guitar shops. They were around a buck a pop.
History has a tendency to jump from the Sex Pistols to Nirvana. Typically sage observation from Steve. Glad I invested some time exploring the period in-between.
@@harrymay2528 i feel like big black were better live because you always had a big sound with two guitarists. plus the drum machine means it's never-ever sloppy- rapeman were more human. they were both great live though.

Anyone noticed that the TH-cam artist bio attached to this is for the wrong band, the one hit wonders `Black` - poor attention to detail. Big Black were awesome, the music of my youth.

Rip Steve, one of the most important names in rock music. He was one of the few uncompromised names in (rock) music left, i think there's no one now.
Man those pyrotechnics at the beginning were so amazing, must have taken weeks to design them.
Albini the perfectionist.
Classic low budget fun
A nod to their final show back in 87'
Thats how they rolled in the 80s
got nothing on Rammstein

Jeff Pezzatti was the original bassist for Big Black before Dave Riley.

That's probably why they did tracks from the early EPs rather than the 2 albums
Man or Astroman - Live transmissions from Uranus. How factual and actual
True to his word.
come on steve..admit it. you had fun playing these songs again.
Well, Steve has certainly become more polite. Good to see.
C'mon, Steve's Piss n' Vingegar toward the Recording Industry has always been perfectly appropriate...
Always warms the cockles of my black heart to see a paunchy 40-something white dude still bring the sonic ultraviolence. Don't ever change Steve.
Being in Chicago that weekend for my cousin’s wedding and knowing that I couldn’t make it to the TnG Reunion show was torture.
Is he still married?
Touch & Go Records is one of the greatest labels ever. That's
what my mama say...
Me too though
So sad, yet so good to see Steve and Jeff and Santiago playing together, like the earliest iteration of Big Black...
I was there for their first last-ever show; The Georgetown Steam Plant in Seattle, Wa. That time, they lit the firecrackers off *after* their set.
*...And smashed up their guitars!*
Steve Albini, Santiago Durango & Jeff Pezzati (Naked Raygun). Big Love.
It's like seeing your dad up on stage.
And your dad is cooler than you...
Yeah, if your dad was cool.
In the good way

Love Touch and Go. Seminal bands.
Agree
big black will always be one of best bands to push the boundaries.

Still as great as ever. Been listening to Rich Man's Eight Track in the car for the last few days. Heartbeat, Ready Men - good god its powerful shit!
Fuck me, I lived and breathed these bands back in the late 80s early 90s and I had no idea this even happened, thank fuck for TH-cam!!!
where might one purchase these "steel guitar picks"?

And who says we go "MELLOW WITH AGE"? Albini & co. still bring it! Amazing!
Wow! I never knew this happened
If there was one band I would have loved to see live it was these, well either them or Rapeman.
both were great live

Rapeman were hardly sloppy though, Albini always works with dead accurate drummers
Now if there's one reunion I'd like to see...
touch and go will always be there for you when you are ready to record.
This is magic !!
Noise At It's Finest ☆♡☆
That was a great day!!
Bye Steve,love.
What a hero!
Wow...amazing! Thx for sharing! I wish I was there...

Om Shanti!
Video quality of an Albini project or performance rivals his aural output and philosophy: Run it through a bottle of Welch's grape jelly.
Rest peacefully, Steve!

Big Black were awesome, the music of my youth.
I wish Riley was on bass.
i agree, he was their best bassist imo but arnd this time he would’ve still been wheelchair bound and not in great enough health to play live
*No one matches Jeff Pezzati's bass playing on Bulldozer.*
@@SinewRending I love pezzati but Riley and that huge T40 bass he played absolutely crush

Where's Dave Riley
Dave suffered a stroke sometime after Big Black broke up, thus making him unable to walk and stand on his own legs.
