This is a fantastic match and I really enjoyed the commentary. I don't need a professional from ESPN with a pro with a telestrator, dumbing it down for me every time a pro is going three rails. These guys are genuine, honest and excited. They agree and support each other without trying to "one up" each other, they disagree without being disagreeable, they are knowledgeable but admit they are surprised when a player takes a different path or makes a different strategic choice. They use metaphors and analogies, blended with colloquialisms. You feel like you are hanging with a couple of veteran players from your pool hall. We need more of this.

@@AccuStats There are others (I won't name names) who are very knowledgeable and informative, but are like listening to that Ben Stein "boring teacher" character. These guys brought color to the commentary.
Excellent match, thanks for posting! And that discussion comparing standard and LD shafts was informative. I have noticed some pros still use standard, and you hardly ever hear about the "drawbacks" of LD shafts.
You've got to get rid of that illegal break rule. It's setting a precedent that will be harder to change. Jayson makes a hard break and deserves to run his rack but loses it because of this rule. If a soft break is so feared, measure the ball speed, say less than 15 mph or 12 mph would be illegal or non-regulation. That would do it much more fairer.
That's what I've been thinking the whole time. The only problem with this solution is the pool world is not only about tournaments. There are casual matches, money games, amateur leagues, etc., and not every one of them will be equipped.
Great match... couldn't stand the commentary!! One more oh, boy and are you kidding me....couldn't stand it!! Yes, it was exciting, but damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the USA there are A LOT of pool players that are NOT professional coz we can't afford it. We have no sponsors etc. Personally I don't care about the prize money, i just love to play.
Pool is such a cruel game, can you believe he was breaking for the match and did an illegal break, hence why he had to kick at the one ball and ended up giving ball in hand. Ko only came to the table once / twice to safeties that were well played by Jason. Ko had a lot of luck with the 6 dropping and the white staying up, but Jayson Shaw just absolutely ripped the table apart and played like he had nothing to lose until the last tense rack. What a match!
The commentator says adversity does not build character, it reveals character. BUT how can character be revealed unless it's built. So what then builds character so it can be revealed? Probably adversity has a lot to do with it.
There is a 3-point rule on the break. You get a point for each ball pocketed and a point for each ball that passes the head string. Score less than 3 and it's a non-compliant break. The opponent has the option of shooting or giving it back to the breaker. It's an insane rule.
Seen a couple of comments about the commentators in a negative. I thought they were excellent as pool commentators go. Some of the more recent videos the commentary has been pretty dire. Didn't like the commentary at this year Mosconi either.
1:11:11 Why does it matter if it's a legal break or not when he didn't sink a ball anyway? He loses his turn to the opponent in either case. I've seen this before, where the breaker didn't sink a ball and the commentators argue about whether the break was legal or not. I don't understand that.
these commentators can't stop gushing over these players. "I was looking down the pipe and it was a piston." Can't make that up. (around 54-55 minutes, but listen to the first 20 minutes to see what I mean in general).
Yeah and I was a witness after this match. I seen both commentators sucking off shaw in the bathroom. Walked in on it. Mark was asking to be poked in the rump roast. He said not to fast though you have to have good speed.
You need to pot 3 balls on the break,or 3 balls need to pass the head string,or combination of both.If you don't do that, your opponent has the option to shot or give the shot back to you.

The break rule thing is perhaps the stupidest thing I think I've seen in rules making in billiards.
