Chicken Run 2 director speaks out over shocking dismissal of original voice star!

I was upset by all of this. I read the interview with Sam Fell and I think it wasn't about them being old, I think this was clearly an excuse because many of the other voice actors are coming back. He said he fell in love with Thandi in Westworld. I think he just thought Thandi is a better actress with more vocal range. He called her voice 'musical'. I think it's such a shame not to have the original voices, it would have given such a heartwarming continuity. So many of us watching will be fans of the original. Shame on Sam Fell. But yes, I'm sure we will enjoy the new film very much. And it is a sequel! Just like the Toy Story films are, the story is continuing.

In recasting the voice actors, it will lose continuity and the charisma between the original voice actors

This along with not using film was a big turn off for me, I personally think it looks was too slick like they are trying to emulate Pixar rather than the Aardman I grew up with.

I know exactly what you mean. The new Chicken Run looked way too clean.
