Music video by The Beatles performing The Ballad Of John And Yoko. (C) 2015 Calderstone Productions Limited (a division of Universal Music Group) / Apple Films Ltd.
Hard to believe The Beatles made so much great music in such a relatively short space of time. Less than seven years. Unbelievable.
Great point. They recorded so many classics that you'd swear they were around for decades together.Amazing.
Yes - that’s what is the most amazing thing about them. It was like 8 years and the made so many great songs
I always think of this song with Creeque Alley-Mama's And The Papa's & I Dig Rock And Roll Music-Peter,Paul & Mary. Great spontaneous sounding story songs...that just flow effortlessly.
@@kmckenna45 no, it was from July 1962 - August 1969 .. that's their RECORDING career. 7 years.
true
The fact Paul helped John with this song, and much later on, helped Yoko repair her marriage to John following the "lost weekend," reveals so many sweet layers to their friendship. Paul was always a real friend to John and all the people touched by him, no matter what.
Yes I agree Paul McCartney was a great friend to John Lennon.Paul McCartney is very kind
Depends where you're standing and the perspective you see from there
"I think that people sometimes forget, than I'm the biggest John Lennon fan of all!" - Paul McCartney
"Paul was always a real friend to John and all the people touched by him, no matter what."

Ja, ja, ja Paul und John waren immer und zu jeder Zeit Freunde. Die Medien haben es anders und falsch dargestellt.
Harrison said: "I didn't mind not being on the record, because it was none of my business … If it had been 'The Ballad of John, George and Yoko', then I would have been on it."
@@Loseronvacation
But this song was played by only John and Paul.
I want to hear the ballad of john george and yoko now
Harrison was kind of jelous? A truly spiritual man...
I didn't mind not being on the record either .... eh, go figure.
It’s a great little line from George. It’s funny how everyone projects themselves into the Beatles stuff. If you are over 40, How many friends do you have from age 19? That’s what I thought
Lyrics:
"Standing in the dock at Southampton
Tryin' to get to Holland or France
The man in the mac said, "You've got to go back"
You know, they didn't even give us a chance
Christ, you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are going
They're going to crucify me
Finally made the plane into Paris
Honey mooning down by the Seine
Peter Brown called to say
"You can make it OK
You can get married in Gibraltar, near Spain"
Christ, you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are goin'
They're going to crucify me
Drove from Paris to the Amsterdam Hilton
Talking in our beds for a week
The newspapers said, "Say what you doing in bed?"
I said, "We're only trying to get us some peace"
Christ, you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are goin'
They're going to crucify me
Saving up your money for a rainy day
Givin' all your clothes to charity
Last night the wife said, "Oh boy, when you're dead
You don't take nothing with you but your soul
Think"
Made a lightning trip to Vienna
Eating chocolate cake in a bag
The newspapers said, "She's gone to his head
They look just like two gurus in drag"
Christ, you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are goin'
They're going to crucify me
Caught the early plane back to London
50 acorns tied in a sack
The men from the press said, "We wish you success
It's good to have the both of you back"
Christ, you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are goin'
They're going to crucify me
The way things are goin'
They're going to crucify me"
Crucifix*
John and Paul were really made to work together.
wow youi're a genius I never would have guessed
Shut up no one likes a smart arse
I thought they have never worked together before. Thanks for enlightening me!
Two geniuses, it's too bad they didn't stick together.
So top legal beijos
I love how Paul's harmony sneaks in gradually until he's just ripping it up at the end.
If you pay attention, this happens with frequence on many Beatles songs
@Liam Chave I Want to Hold Your Hand and Nowhere Man for example
So true. They always played great together, but when that McCartney Lennon harmony kicks in in any of their songs it just soars into beyond the divine. Love to you and all the great people here!
This, combined with how the drums also get crazier every section is one of the main reasons this song is so great

Then he hops back onto smoking a few months later

This is one of my favorite Beatles song. John’s voice is so distinct. Love his voice.
You're not alone. I have a many "favorites" but this is probably at the top, which doesn't make sense to a lot of people, but if you get it, you get it.
And it's only John and Paul!
Is it actually a Beatles song?
@@StevenCarinci Yes, by name but not including two members of the Beatles
It's a good song
That's how much of a friend Paul was. Even tho he didn't quite agree with the yoko thing he still helped john record the song and did the backing vocals! Lennon and Mccartney 4ever
ROAD To The Top wrote and record it lol Love the two of 'em
Good observation. I also think that Paul saw how happy she made John and so he had a bit of a soft spot for that part of her.
Paul loved John about as much as John loved Paul brothers forever
Rafael Sandrini de Oliveira think despite the issues they forgot them had a good laugh and recorded it like they use to. Didn’t last but nice to know anyway
McCartney also played drums on this song. Ringo was making a film and George was producing an album.
2:26 I love Paul’s vocals “You know it ain’t EASY!” “You know how hard it can BE!”
He and Lennon both as well as the Beatles in general were genius at harmonizing. I agree totally with you on this. I love the song which song wrote on his own...but Paul's contribution in playing drums and the bass are great and his harmonizing at the end just adds a heavy bit of icing to the cake. I just love his harmonizing at the end of the song. And I'm not a big McCarthney fan either. Still...his bass playing on this song is amazing and his drumming works. It's a great song and John and Paul once again display their genius in how the were able to immediately record with just themselves doing it all. Peace.
Paul’s backing vocals made the song great.
@@giltovar6531 Get off it. If his vocals were not there it would still be a great song.
My thoughts exactly.Great minds an all that 💖

A bit of trivia....
John and Paul were the only two Beatles playing on this.
Paul played all the percussion and piano and backing vocals and bass obviously.
John on lead.
George was out of town and Ringo was probably drinking.
George was on vacation, rings was making a movie
Trevor Perry and drinking
Now that's what I call friendship
George was visiting the United States and Ringo was filming The Magic Christian with Peter Sellers.

Paul's famous Hoffner bass. When they first came to the U.S. and were on Ed Sullivan (old black and white TV in the early '60's; I'm 69 now!) I was just a kid who liked them a lot. I later in my teens became a big fan. Anyhow, I often wandered why Paul played his guitar on the "opposite side" of everyone else. Someone told me he was a "leftie" and that's how lefties play a guitar. A few years later and and still a big fan, I almost wore out my 8 track tape (anyone remember those?) of "Abbey Road".
Yeah that bass line always drew me in

I keep listening to that song over and over again. This is such a beautiful song
"The way things are going
They’re gonna crucify me." is quite the prophetic lyric.
Never mind my comment, just the lyrics for myself to sing along (still learning English). This is one of my most favorite Beatles song.
Standing in the dock at Southampton
Tryin' to get to Holland or France
The man in the mac said, "You've got to go back"
You know, they didn't even give us a chance
Christ, you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are going
They're going to crucify me
Finally made the plane into Paris
Honey mooning down by the Seine
Peter Brown called to say
"You can make it OK
You can get married in Gibraltar, near Spain"
Christ, you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are goin'
They're going to crucify me
Drove from Paris to the Amsterdam Hilton
Talking in our beds for a week
The newspapers said, "Say what you doing in bed?"
I said, "We're only trying to get us some peace"
Christ, you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are goin'
They're going to crucify me
Saving up your money for a rainy day
Givin' all your clothes to charity
Last night the wife said, "Oh boy, when you're dead
You don't take nothing with you but your soul
Think"
Made a lightning trip to Vienna
Eating chocolate cake in a bag
The newspapers said, "She's gone to his head
They look just like two gurus in drag"
Christ, you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are goin'
They're going to crucify me
Caught the early plane back to London
50 acorns tied in a sack
The men from the press said, "We wish you success
It's good to have the both of you back"
Christ, you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are goin'
They're going to crucify me
The way things are goin'
They're going to crucify me
2:34 I'm guessing that that is the same jacket that John wore during the rooftop concert.
Haha
"Hey, Yoko, can you fix my fur coat?"
"HeHeehHeeEHhheE Yeah"
Skippy Bean the coat was yoko’s. As the coat that ringo wore at the rooftop was from maureen
Oh Yoko, what an amazing contribution.

Who's Peter Brown?
Tremendo, grax xd
Armani Rodriguez Peter Brown was the Beatles personal assistant employed by Brian Epstein, he wrote a book about the Beatles called The Love You Make ✌
I can play this song over & over, that's how much I love this song, classic
You're not alone I can't explain why this may be my favorite Beatles song. And it's only John and Paul....

Jesus Christus (von altgriechisch Ἰησοῦς Χριστός Iēsoûs Chrīstós [iɛːˈsuːs kʰriːsˈtos], deutsch ‚Jesus, der Gesalbte‘)
Sokrates (altgriechisch Σωκράτης Sōkrátēs; * 469 v. Chr. in Alopeke, Athen; † 399 v.
nannte.
I just have plated it over and over.. 🤣😅
My older sister had this song on a 45. Listening to it for close to 50 years. One of my favorites.
there are so many 'get back' scenes here, it's amazing how Peter Jackson restored them flawlessly
EASILY their most underrated single. I never get tired of this song!
"B" side of "Get Back"?
The fact the song is on the album The Beatles 1 means it's not underrated :)
@@annjemariarguably the most overlooked song on 1 though. not that it says much, it's The Beatles 1
@@57highland no it wasn't.
@@BrendanJSmith Then maybe the "B" side of "Don't Let Me Down" ...
Late John Lennon's voice. Oh my goodness. Ear pleasing vocal chords. Bless you John and R.I.P.

I learned to play bass guitar from this song. Thanks Paul.
this song is so well produced, the last verse is just so nice to listen to
The greatest one-half of a band ever ..
0:47 paul looking so handsomee
always
😍😍😍😍❤❤❤❤
2:12 he got out of la just in time lol
a real Lennon-McCartney song as Ringo and Harrison weren't around during recording. That's McCartney on drums...
thanks so much for confirming the same previous 5 replies
Mcartney was better drummer anyhow. He also did drums on the ussr song
Reporter: Is Ringo the best drummer in the world? Lennon: He's not even the best drummer on the Beatles...
@@michaelwood875 Ringo is far better than Paul on drums. Take it from a drummer.
@@Cian._. why didn't the Beatles or George Martin allow Ringo a drum solo like Ginger Baker???
very catchy song! i bet this band gonna be huge! 👉
oh that's funny
Where have you been?😂
Are you serious? ...
Ah yes The Beatles, the least known band in the world
Hell it was a number 1 hit in 1969. Coming up on 50 years old in May 2019. But if you just discovered it and the Beatles your in for a treat. Hey Bulldog is another one that is catchy and that's only a scratch of what they recorded as a group, plus what they did ķ
1:57 drumming is so eargasm
It’s Paul playing !!
I love the bass in this hit.
