    You are the very first person I have heard that switched to safety razors and has not turned collecting razors into a hobby. I have been into this kind of shaving since I was 18 (I am now 46). I used my father's old Gillette razor and I was very happy with it. At some point, coming accross blades became very difficult and, after a while, it became impossible. I had no choice than to turn to a more modern catridge razor. About two years ago, I was looking for a nice present for the man I chose to be the godfather to my son. Another friend threw the idea of a nice set with a razor, a badger brush and a good soap. I knew that I would love to get such a present, so I assumed my friend would have liked it as well. And how right I was. My friend has a few razors now and currently I have 21, a couple of dozen brushes and many, many different soaps. Each of my razors shaves differently. None of the brushes or the soaps are the same either. I am not suggesting that I have become a connoisseur for shaving gear. I am merely saying that it is so nice to have different choices for your every day shave, that match your mood. It is so nice to take 20-30 minutes every day to pamper yourself a bit. It is a beautiful and interesting hobby that, unlike stamp collections, has some practicality to it as well. Initially, I was in it for the money saving too. In the end, I realised that for me saving money from shaving is not possible. I am not suggesting that you should turn it into a hobby too. But do yourself a favour and try new stuff. You will be blown away! By the way, your razor is gorgeous! I am thinking of getting one and this is what brought me to your video. Thanks for sharing.

    Great choice in Timeless! I've used most of the modern stainless steel razors, and Timeless is hands down the best!

    I have 2 Timeless Razors...a Stainless Steel Solid Bar and a Bronze Open Comb...they're both functional works of art that give incredibly fine shaves! They are Ferraris for your face! I honestly can't figure out which one I like better...both are a joy to use. I always look forward to shaving now as a wonderful experience! An added bonus...I like supporting the brothers over at Timeless who are also very fine craftsmen.CHEERS!!!

    You should have tried a vintage Gillette Tech from before they started using zamak caps. They have brass heads, I think, and some of them are going strong up to 80 years later :)

    Im just getting in to safety razors. My first 2 that I have on the way are the blackland dart and rockwell 6s. Ive been using a straight razor for a couple decades. Looking forward to trying something new. And I wasnt about to start out with cheaply made models. I got a great deal on both of the razors, and seeing as I have been forging my own straight razors, im used to a certain level of quality. That timeless razor looks sweet. I may have to look into one depending on how much i like shaving with a safety razor.

    • @MillipedeWerks
      @MillipedeWerks  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never tried a straight razor and making your own razor is certainly cool. The quality of the timeless is certainly high, but its not hand-made, so if you like the small imperfections of a hand-made item, this might not do it for ya.

    Excellent choice for the Timeless Razor, you could have chosen a Rockwell as well. Your old Parker is chromed zamak, a weak alloy.

      Nice, could you make a comparison after several shaves for each, might help those that are a bit more budget conscious. I will treat myself with a Timeless or a Wolfman when they are available.

      Szymon Klimas with a super soapy hand, the knurling still allow for a decent grip. Though it is harder to shave with soapy hands and I usually shave with dry hands and it is a lovely experience :-)

    Chromed pot metal razors are the devil. Stick with brass, copper, or stainless steel FTW. Zamak (pot metal is okay, but it will fail over time. :/

    Beautiful razor. Do you find the .68 mm is efficient enough or did you get a .95 mm?

    • @MillipedeWerks
      @MillipedeWerks  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not tried the .95 mm. Speaking on the .68 mm, I find it to be very comparable in efficiency to a three blade razor, something like the Gillette Mach 3, in terms of passes. However it does not grab at the skin as much. I am amazed by how little skin grabbing there is while at the same time it will, with a new blade, take off everything in one pass. It is also amazing in how hard it is to cut yourself with it. From what I read the .95 mm should have more grab to it, but I don't know first hand. I will also say that the .68 mm leaves my particular face with a very close shave. I am very happy with the .68 mm.

    • @jeremyvuozzo9677
      @jeremyvuozzo9677 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good to hear. I ordered one with the shorter handle and a 0.68 mm gap. I prefer shorter handles but I do like the pineapple design you went with. I think, given my light beard, the 0.68 will be fine. I'm anxiously awaiting it to arrive.

  • @chrisspertos4849
    @chrisspertos4849 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Dude you got it all wrong. A multiblade razor gives ingrown hairs, irritation and razor bumps. Gillette from 1900 till mid 80's made great de razors (de stands for double edge) now Gillette makes multi blade razors because the blades cost a lot and Gillette is making millions. Now let's go to the shave. Nothing beats a shave with a straight razor 2nd is a de razor. Barber shop shaves. The multiblade razors are crap. If you would like to know there are many Artisian companies making great soaps, brushes, and razors. The market has vintage razors that could be 60- 70 years old and still people shave with them. The vintage Gillettes are made like tanks. Great shavers. Then you have the razors that are in the 15- 60 dollar range that are also built to last and great shavers, Merkur, Parkers, Edwin Jagger, Muhle, Fatip, Feather, even the Chinese razors are very good shavers. You've mentioned in your vid the 35 dollar razors are made in India. Parker is made in India. Merkur is German. Edwin Jagger is British and Feather is Japanese. All these companies have very good de razors. Just because they're in the under 100 bucks range doesn't mean they're not good razors. Now we go to the Artisian high end razors. Wolfman, Karve, Timeless, Rocnel Elite, Pils, Charcoal Goods, ATT, all these razors are expensive because of the stainless steel and the craftsmanship. They are all good shavers. But a 35 dollar razor could shave as good as these razors. For example the Merkur 34c is a 40 dollar razor and it's a very good shaver. The Fatip Piccolo open comb v2 version is all brass and u see 20 bucks and a great shaver, could be better than some of the high end razors. So it's not the material or price range that makes the razor good. First you have to learn to shave with de razors. Tecnique is everything.

  • @andrewfitzgibbons3492
    @andrewfitzgibbons3492 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Maybe your not skillful at de shaving you don't have to spend 200 dollars on a razor. I heard you say you only unscrewed your razor once a week maybe that's why it deteriorated on you, you should have washed it and dried it after at least 3 shaves.

    • @MillipedeWerks
      @MillipedeWerks  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be. I might have been able to take better care of the old razor, but the shave quality is night and day between the two. My girlfriend has one with the same head as my old one and it does not shave anywhere near as well as the Timeless.
