Whoever was playing this HAD to have the game on the easiest setting. There’s no way the people in that truck at the beginning didn’t spot him running down that hill.
The way he was playing doesn’t fully show the goodness of the game as well. Playing patiently, taking them out from afar and without being noticed. Setting up elaborate traps and so forth. Ofc play how you want to, but I’m sure he would’ve enjoyed watching more strategic gameplay
I’m playing on authentic right now and it is a very different game even from hard. Overall he still would think it’s not realistic obviously but it would be much better if he watch it on authentic.
To answer the silencer question: 1) The first patent was 1906 by the son of the guy who invented the Maxim machine gun (If I remember correctly) 2) Both axis and allies used silencers in limited numbers. They were either a tube with a few funnels (actual funnels not any fancy baffles) inside (maybe just three) or a few rubber wipes. 3) The silencers were plagued by many issues: a) the rubber wipes lasted only a few shots and didn't perform well at all in cold temperatures, in particular on the Eastern Front. b) they were not very effective at actually silencing the shots, but made it still much harder to detect the position of the shooter. Still taking out a sentry or dog silently was impossible! c) they tended to overheat and have gasses being pressed back into the ejection port and irritate your eyes. d) any self-loading gun could become unreliable with a silencer mounted e) they didn't have bigger or heavier rounds for shooting subsonic, but used regular length barrels and regular ammunition, just with maybe 2/3rds of the powder charge removed! The results were obviously lackluster, both in external ballistics and terminal ballistics (massive bullet drop, little effect on impact) Due to all these factors, crossbows and rubber-powered devices were occasionally used by special operators (these weapons had a lethality on par with an FMJ 45 ACP and were silent enough to take out sentries). However, snipers and resistance fighters were often given those primitive silencers. Probably snipers using regular rounds (and bolt action rifles) had the most to win from using suppressors, but that's not how they were intended to be used...
@@user-yy7tw9hv9n not really. A medieval windlass crossbow has insane poundage, but the kinetic energy of the projectile is AFAIK no more than that of a powerful modern compound bow. It all depends on how much of the stored energy you can transfer into the projectile and how much of the energy the projectile can transfer into the target... It's a similar story with the giant musket balls compared to 5.56mm... (though 5.56 is not always better).
Autoloading firearms usually function better with suppressors, not worse. The extra back pressure usually assists the extraction/ejection and they tend increase the rate of fire on fully automatic weapons. Also, the common way that subsonic was achieved using standard loaded ammunition is through barrel porting. The Welrod, DeLisle, HDM, and M3 Grease gun suppressors are all good examples of this (the modern MP5sd also uses this technique). Once the barrel is ported it acts like having a short barrel and prevents the round from achieving super sonic velocity.
@@dark2023-1lovesoni My point was about the gun not being made for the attachment originally. You need to tune the gas pressure/recoil and in case of the barrel moving as well take the added mass into account. Some guns are really bad at performing both with and without that attachment.
The Welrod, was a silenced pistol used during WW2. It was meant to be used by undercover agents in Axis territory. The design of it very unusual and the barrel actually was made to look like a bicycle pump.
Yeah apparently "Welrod" the British Single Shot Suppressor Pistol was used by the SOE during WW2. There's also the M3 "Grease Gun" that were Equipped with Suppressor
The SpecOps guys were issued with with pistols like the Wellrod with integral suppressors that became less effective the more rounds were fired, but if the right subsonic ammo was used, on the 1st few shots people standing in the same vicinity, would only hear a slight pop if the weapon was fired close to them.
Yes they were used in WW2, but not a lot at all. And the OSS used very specific weapons like the welrod, other suppressed weapons were fielded in VERYYYYYY limited numbers and most were prototypes issued to them for testing. And that was usually in numbers less than 100.
The silencer was used in ww2 mostly by the OSS and some snipers were issued them for specific missions but most snipers didn't get them for standard combat missions
3:55 Yes. they did. Suppressed Stens, M3s, Welrods, De Lisle carbines, germans had suppressed EMPs and suppressor attachments for various guns like CZ-27 or Kar98k, soviets had suppressors for Mosins and Nagant revolvers.
Small problem here it's like the game is called Sniper Elite but it's a commando game, so for the sniping part Richard is totally relevant but in the end, it's all about infiltration (may it be loud or not hehe, up to you)
For Richard The first working mufflers were made and sold by Hiram Percy Maxim in 1902. In the USSR, the first silencer "BroMit" came into service with pre-sonic cartridges in 1941. In the game, the sniper uses a De Lisle carbine made UK with an integrated silencer. They were rare, but they were. Thanks for the fun video!
Why do they always pick the absolute worst gameplay for these experts to react to????? This guy’s running around in the game like he’s playing freakin Call of Duty!!!
They had sound supressors at the time of WW II. It was not common but they had. In fact the Royal Armorie Museum worked with Rebellion in making the guns and accessories in Sniper Elite 5.
As far as I am aware the Maxim Silencer was a pre WW1 patent and did exist. SOE and OSS did produce a number of suppressed weapons, suppressors. Sten, Grease Guns, a few others come to mind quickly. Welrod and Delisle carbines as well. Beyond that I don't think there was a lot of suppressor usage in general, even on the Axis side. I can only think of one Soviet suppressor and one Axis suppressor. This game and its customisation system has gone well and truly overboard and over the top. To unrealistic for this old grognard of the series. And this title hasn't given me a nice Smelly too.
He didn't notice it, but in the game there's actually a soundmask mechanic. Planes flying overhead and sabotaging engines and generators to make loud popping noises can be used to mask your shots so no one can tell what's really gunfire
i just want to point out that these clips where made on the cadet difficulty. on “authentic plus” (or at least the SE5 equivalent, i can only play SE4), there’s NO hud whatsoever and the enemies have a brain. you have to consider bullet drop, wind, and have to mark every target to know how much you have to recalibrate your scope to compensate for the distance. holding your breath only steadies your scope instead of giving you that slowing time down thing. every item only has one magnification because there was no fancy “moving lenses around and staying zero” thing. forget the minimap or the things above enemies heads when they get alerted.
@4:13 Also, before you engage in any type of climbing, especially in an urban (or just man-made in general) environment, you should always make sure that the obstacle you're planning to climb (and you're body) can support your weight (plus equipment), and ideally you'd have a backup plan. You don't know if or when any of those stones would just break, slip out, your hands might slip, the bridge might shake Obviously, when your life is on the line, you might take certain risks, but in those cases if they catch you, you're done anyway.

Great games, I got all 5 and most DLCs and they’re all excellent. It’s the kind of games that dont get the praise they deserve, like I don’t know many people who know it exists but its great

I always say this game has some hints of realism, but it's mostly sensation and arcade action. It's just some casual fun for me, i even play easy level.
something this "sniper" forgot is....this is the portrayal during the O.S.S. days during World War 2 ironically the first war was called "the great war" and the second is colloquially called "the big one"
"He's gonna wake up somewhere in heaven.. or hell." That's the most badass line he ever said in his reacts but in a humble tone.

Yes the British used welrods and silenced stens even an experimental silenced carbine (not suppressors) they during ww2
1902 was when the first suppressor was invented
yes, they did have suppressors in WW2
Using "Mustache Man" instead of the H-word is a smart and funny way to avoid youtube demonetization
They did have suppresors back then but in WW2 they didn't use them that much
Subscribed. Great content.
Yes there was silencer in 1944 the silencer was first made in 1925
I got the high ground
I can already sense people joking about the mic Quality
the first gun suppressor was developed in 1902
"This looks so easy"..... Jager invasion
Surpressors were a thing but not heavily used. In WW era, it just people just running and shooting at each other, no time for stealth
Expert's Play? Richard did say it's easy so why don't we have him play the game and see wether if he'll still think it's easy
4:00 yes they did
But I gues it was still new tech
Not used alot
Be three steps ahead plan your moves carefuly
I always say this game has some hints of realism, but it's mostly sensation and arcade action.
It's just some casual fun for me, i even play easy level.
something this "sniper" forgot is....this is the portrayal during the O.S.S. days during World War 2
ironically the first war was called "the great war" and the second is colloquially called "the big one"
yes suppressors were a thing in fact in ww2 William Godfrey Delisle made the quietest firearm in the world even today
They did exist, but they were so good that ended up being useless because the robbed the bullet of a lot of it's velocity
That pistol is a Welrod. They were silent.
The censorship at 0:43 makes Karl sound racist
