    I was so confused about that thing at the 12:00 min mark thanks for clearing that up my brotha 🤝🏿 I just got this unit and was looking up videos so far im cool 😎 only complaint is I wish the air outlet was situated to blow out at more of a direct angle so I can lay down and feel the air instead of it being straight up cooling my ceiling lol over I dont regret the purchase though it was either this or cooking in the heat

    Did you need to use the power drill ?

    • @TomLeeman
      @TomLeeman  ปีที่แล้ว

      You don’t really need one it’s off head screwdriver will do on the exhaust port. Good luck thanks for watching.

    What about the holes for the water to drain out?

    • @TomLeeman
      @TomLeeman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depending on where you live and how humid it is, you may have to drain it every day. You have to unscrew that and sometimes tilt the machine for the bottom one. Good luck. Thanks for watching.

    the unit I bought has a rather odd as it is fiddly just to get the inlets and outlets to fit inside. It's got no marker or plastic tip like the one in this video :(

      I would have to see what that model is to figure it out. Good luck thanks for watching. Stay cool this summer.

    Why do they have 2 BTU ratings? Is it 8,000 or 4,100?

    • @TomLeeman
      @TomLeeman  ปีที่แล้ว

      This one’s 8000 BTU I’m not quite sure maybe that some kind of European number the other one I have to do a little research on it

    • @insider235
      @insider235 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TomLeeman I ended up looking into it. The smaller number is the more official, up to date number. The larger number is the btu rating according to the old system which did not cover portable ACs. The portable ACs have an issue in that by pumping air out of the building they create a vacuum that ends up sucking in air from outside the room with the unit in it and this air is usually not conditioned air. So this lowers the effective cooling ability of portable ACs and a new regulatory framework covering them has been applied to make consumers aware of this property. Thus a portable AC will cool less efficiently than an AC with the condenser outside even though both would be rated the same BTU under the old system. The new system reflects this though so portable ACs have to show their reduced BTU equivalent.

      @@insider235 excellent job on that research that is very good to know these portable ACs are really just temporary fixes. I use mine when I had to work on my regular AC that was broken and it just kept the one room cold until I can get the whole unit fixed. Good luck with yours and thanks for all that great information stay cool the summer.

      @@TomLeeman If you buy a portable A/C with two hoses, that solves the negative pressure issue. Midea Duo and Whynter NEX come into mind and they typically have 12,000 SACC BTU. They also have inverters which make them even more efficient. Only problem is they cost up to $600.
