The three main original Underdog theme songs were awesome, introducing us to Simon Bar Sinister, Riff Raff, and the Giant. I love all three, but the Giant Monster is my favorite. I'd like to have a tee shirt with Underdog's picture on it showing him sparking and flying away, with a satisfied mean grin on his face, just like the one right after he rang the Giant's bell. Excellent video. ♡ T.E.N.
In the original "UNDERDOG SHOW" closing credits, Gamma Productions' animation credit was seen at 1:02, followed by the voice credits- then, the "Post No Bills" ending was seen after the cop "pointed" it out....
Thank you for posting this!! The tune at the end with the clarinet solo takes me right back to sitting in front of the tv in the late sixties with a peanut butter and jam sandwich in hand. Thank you again!!
I, too remembered watching this show back in 1992-1993. I was only 7 years old when it aired on Nickelodeon. I kept fantasizing on being just like Underdog at that age. For starters, whenever I saw a nearby phone booth, I'd run in there and come out like I became him. heh heh...
Thank you for this, it is like seeing it again for the first time at 6 years of age in 1965. One of my all time favorite cartoons then. The folks that created all that magnificent television for us made the kids of my generation very creative and artful in all things, be it music or whatever. So thankful for that. But Allen Swift put at the very end of the voice credits? Damn...
I was ten 30 years ago and on Nickelodeon and introduced my generation to underdog in the summer 30 years ago and I’m gonna be 40 and still dig the show
In syndication, the first season episodes of "UNDERDOG" were presented, with first season episodes of "TENNESSEE TUXEDO AND HIS TALES", as "CARTOON CUT-UPS" in fall of 1965, with a different opening title {GEORGE S. IRVING: "Time now for 'CARTOON CUT-UPS'! Starring Underdog, Tennessee Tuxedo....and Commander McBragg!"}. The closing title reflects this: the voice credits for "TENNESEE TUXEDO" were flashed at 1:07, followed by Tennessee & Chumley's "Don't Miss Our Next Show" banner at the end...
You’re talking about “Cartoon Cut-Ups”. Never heard of that show before. Sadly, the opening and closing to “Cartoon Cut-Ups” are completely lost. “Cartoon Cut-Ups” was the syndicated title featuring Underdog, Tennessee Tuxedo, and Commander McBragg, and it ran from 1965 until 1967 until it became a separate series after that. The closing at 0:43 where the narrator was said “Looks like this is the end. But don’t miss our next ‘Cartoon Cut-Ups’ Show”. That was from the original, so he changed it to “Underdog” instead of “Cartoon Cut-Ups”.
I feel like Dreamworks Animation should make a CGI reboot of "Underdog", with co-production under their new owners, Universal and Illumination Entertainment. Though, the only hard part is choosing a proper voice cast. For sure, the movie could be done under the same production team that made Dreamworks and Blue Sky Studios' "Mr. Peabody and Sherman" and the 3D short film, "Rocky and Bullwinkle".
I would like to see another Underdog movie but not like that live action one. It was ok. I think there were 2 main/ reoccurring villains Sinister Bar Simon and Riff Raff.
+ClassicTVMan1981X I don't recall if it ever showed up on Nick or not, they could've edited it out of there for some reason, though I also remember seeing Underdog or Tennessee Tuxedo in the 80's when they were still fiddling around with film chain telecine prints and those usually didn't have the Program Exchange logos on them.
Ah. I know CN's airings and syndication on local stations use it. I even remember when the "Simon Says Be My Valentine" story arc was available on The Hub On Demand as an hour-long program, it had the Program Exchange logo (1993 version, of course.)
Ending song gives me chills, I went back in a time capsule
Laura Gaudet - I don’t know why this popped into my head! The end credits melody always made me feel a bit melancholy.. lol
It Originally Ran on NBC in the Fall of 1964 and then in 65 through 67. Syndication started around 1982 I believe.
Nickelodeon introduced me to this
The Nickelodeon elements that solidify this was taped from a 1991-92 rerun are just the icing, always the sweeter part of the cake.
from september '92. i got more of the ads up here th-cam.com/video/W6wwn1hXA3w/w-d-xo.html

@@Musicradio77Network Correct. Alot of the Opening Themes of TOTAL Television/General Mills and even Post Foods are lost through time.
Awesome sauce Underdog rocks

Underdog Intro and Credits
thanks i read the title too
I remember the Program Exchange logo usually coming after the credits...
+wileyk209zback
Probably when Cartoon Network re-aired it starting in 1996 but I skipped over that logo.

Do you know that Underdog (1960’s cartoon) aired on Nickelodeon before Cartoon Network?
Yes. I remember. Spring 1992 on Nickelodeon and Early 1998 on Cartoon Network.
Me too
@@Johnlindsey289 Underdog reruns aired on Nick in Summer 1992 to late Spring 1994, then on Cartoon Network from 1996 to 1999.
