    Superb! The Shot of the Pullman and Boxes at the Start made me think of Chrissmas, what an Awesome Present to receive, Probably a Months Wages back in the 60’s 🥴 Triang/Hornby we’re definitely at the Top of their game judging by the Quality of the Mouldings which wouldn’t be Out of Place 50 years On - Excellent Running Shots with All 3 on the Go and A Fantastic Tribute to Your Skills as Chief Engineer and Custodian of these Great Models - Many thanks OP 🙌🏻✨

    A Tri-ang classic indeed . One of the things that set Tri-ang apart from Horny Dublo in the early sixties . A new up to date train at a reasonable price . Some great views of the layout Oscar . Great video as always

    I can remember seeing the real Midland Pullman when I was a boy, it was amazing and I never forgot that thrill of seeing it, I had to have a model of it. It took me nearly 60 years before I did.
    Thank you for sharing

    Excellent video Oscar. My first train set RS.52 was this model along with RS.34 Transcontinental set back in the 60's as a Christmas or birthday present which I still have to this day.

    Morning Oscar, what a great start to Sunday watching the Blue Pullman. Certainly in my top favourite Tri-ang items. Like you I also Think the late Grey & Blue looks smart, as does the fictious 1974 version in an Electric Blue & Grey. Always a favourite of mine since childhood when an Uncle was a steward on them and every so often we would have free tickets to travel to Paddington. Wonderful, memories.
    It was a very satisfying sight watching the Dublo Castle, and Tri-ang Hymek and Pullman all charging around the layout together.
    Best wishes to you and Roberta from Rob & Sue.

    Lovely stuff Oscar, thanks for sharing the Blue Pullman. You are right it was Kitmaster who offered the Pullman in kit form. Kitmaster made the missing Kitchen car, the Parlour car and the Midland Power Car (the Triang model is of the Western Power Car). The Kitmaster coaches are expensive nowadays, especially the Kitchen Car, but you can modify the Hornby “shorty” HST coach using 3D printed window inserts available on eBay as it is fairly close in length and profile.

    Morning Oscar, what a super train the blue sets the train off and makes it look quite classy. I do have the later gray model 3 car set, and although i love it i always wanted the blue pullman. Several of my older triang models have knurled wheels and i always believed it was to make a diesel sound? It can make the running very noisy. 😂 thanks once again Oscar, enjoy my Sunday mornings, take care Eddy xx

    I loved the sound of the knurled wheels. As you say this is a classic from Tri-ang. I haven't run mine for about a year now, perhaps time to pull it down from the display shelf and give it a run. Thank you for another great start to my Sunday Oscar. David.

    Great vid today thanks Oscar! My first train set was the blue Pullman albeit the set with yellow ends and it still runs as well today as it did just over 50 years ago. The noise and sleek design are certainly something to behold!

    As a boy me and me big BRUVER used to go trainspotting at Finsbury Park, we saw all the gresley and peppercorn locos and first generation diesels including Deltic.
    We would go down to KIng Cross then walk over to St Pancras where we would see the shiny brand new blue pullman, it was wonderful and looked like it could do a million miles an hour.
    So when Triang introduced them I simply had to have one.

    Great models - when you think that it's basically a dock shunter mechanism that's pushing / pulling four coaches, it puts some other locos to shame! I was waiting for the high speed 'train set' style circuit on this video!

    Good morning Oscar it's Martin from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire again. I've just watched your excellent video about the Blue Pullman. I used to have the grey Pullman units with the yellow warning panels when I was a lad. I always wanted the blue version but never got it. The sound the train makes is exactly the same sound I remember. We used to have the Hull Pullman leaving Hull, but I can't remember if it was the same train or if the service was loco hauled. ? When I worked on British Rail I used to put the window labels on each coach and I kept some for myself. Thank you once again Oscar for a delightful trip down memory lane. Well as always it's time to have my tea and toasted
    tea cake. Keep safe and have a good week ahead Oscar and ill see you next Sunday. 👍🚂 .

      I had only heard of these referred to as the Western Pullmans or Midland Pullman versions.
      So implying their normal use on ex GWR or LMS lines.
      The numerous Pullman trains on ex LNER lines were always locomotive hauled, so not these DMU trains.

    Perhaps the off centre screw was to help the production people get the roof or underframe on the right way round.

    • @EsotericArctos
      @EsotericArctos วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I think it might be due to there being a window in the middle and they actually tried to hide where it screws through, but your expanation sounds plausible as well :)

    Hi Oscar,
    I have always kicked myself, for having never purchased a Blue Pullman set? For some reason there were always "other" items of Tri-ang that I wanted more? I already had the EMU and DMU sets, and another 'Railcar type of train' seemed a bit "over the top" for my layout at the time?
    I personally prefer the first blue livery? It looks nice..

  • @EsotericArctos
    @EsotericArctos วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Looks like the securing screw on that unit was off centered to avoid the pillar it screws into being visible from that centre window. Triang must have been thinking of aesthetics at this time.

    It's a superb looking train, but I always wondered just how noisy the real thing would have been for the passengers in the two motor coaches; they must have been sitting right next to the engine room. The later HST, which was broadly the same concept avoided this by making the motor units shorter and without passenger seating. Incidentally, I have the green DMU which has exactly the same power bogie, but I've fitted it with modern fine scale wheels from Ultrascale (without the ribbed treads) and it is unbelievably almost silent in operation.

    Great video this morning Oscar, the triang blue pullman as you say it’s a classic, many years ago now I managed to pick one up for only £20 from a shop in an arcade in Southport but it was only the two end cars, now though and I think I have mentioned this before I don’t use my triang one as much, that’s because recently I got the bachmann full 6 car unit, the motor car of my triang one has never really ran very well either as it looks like my triang one has the wheels that have flanges just a bit to big for modern hornby track, overall it’s a great range of models from triang but it’s one that doesn’t get much use from me since having the full train from bachmann, great video overall here Oscar, keep up the great work.

      So many people say stuff like this but the one thing they never take into consideration is the care the owner puts into their models, something that’s looked after very well for years will run for years, that includes modern models we get today, if somethings not looked after then it will fail over time, just because it’s triang or made in England it doesn’t mean it will run forever, the care an owner puts into it will also factor in.

    Another great video. I have the Blue Pullman with the yellow ends and agree that the older version looks better. I think the offset securing screw on these units might be due to the offset position of the passageway as I think the seating is 2 to one side and 1 to the other. Best wishes, Tom.

    I bought a second hand Pullman, the power car has the blue nose, and the dummy car has a yellow nose, and on coach. Have to say not sure if I should convert the yellow dummy car to all blue. P.s. how many sleepers have you allowed between each elevated pier.

  • @timchalk6810
    @timchalk6810 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The rosebud models i think are scale length so slightly longer and the conversion kit replaces the windows but does not have any representation of the side doors on the body side just on the window so is a bit of a compromise though does look good. A little fact not widely know is that one bogie on the kitchen cars was driven which made substituting a failed power car more complicated and was why the western region kept a rake of pullmans handy in order to provide cover .these normally being hauled by a western class 52.

    Classic running sound of that Pullman Oscar... Looks and runs lovely...I have a version that had the yellow front ends but was well neglected when I got it. So I stripped off the yellow and restored it to the original colours and transfers and got it running again. Lovely runner now and looks great. Just my personal opinion but I think the yellow update spoiled the look of the classic original.

    Hi Oscar,
    Lovely Pullman and intro footage however I am curiously trying to work out whether the mediaeval soldier on the platform is in fancy dress or a time warp 😂👍
    I never saw a Blue Pullman, probably because it would have been when I was drifting away from trains and ‘growing up’, back to childhood as I write 😀
    Very nice video complete with background knurled wheel music 👏

    • @mikehebdentrains
      @mikehebdentrains วันที่ผ่านมา

      My pullman (and X04) motors do periodically collect fine iron filings from somewhere. I've long suspected that the ribbed wheels and steel track are to blame. Possibly during unscheduled 'emergency stops' where the locked wheels slide
