Hi Oscar,
Some excellent footage from the TCS Show. When I saw the two trucks with grey metal wheels and serrations to simulate tyre tread, it immediately took me back to Matchbox Series wheels in the 50s.
R55’s motor looks like a real dinosaur in the best possible way but a priceless acquisition for spares…or maybe a runner 🤔😀
Some great wagons in there and I remember coming home from school and waiting patiently for my Dad to appear later having bought the newsagent kiosk, never graduated to the Porter’s Room. All a bit like the Yellow Pages R100 Signal Box TV ad 👍
Gordon
Good evening Gordon, I remember that TV ad, proper telephones! Great to hear enjoy the footage from the show, you're right about the R.55 mechanism, definitely looks its age, I'm sure I'm going to have some great fun with it..
Take care.
Oscar
Well done Oscar excellent videos and great to see my less than common 00 sets actually running , well most of the time. Thank you, Bryan Pentland events manager and Chairman TCS. Hope you can make it to our Spring show on the 16th of March and our big Summer Show on the 1st of June 2024.
Hi Bryan, thanks for looking in and the time and effort you put in to bring these shows together. They are a great day out, very much looking forward to coming to the show in March and hopefully the show in June.
Take care.
Oscar
Being a nostalgic sentimental old fool now aged 70 I love your channel and your trainset so to speak.
No intention to scenic it, just track on boards like the art work on the Triang trainset boxes.
As a boy of 6 getting my first trainset for Christmas 1959 I got the metro cammed DMU with an oval of series 3 plus the uncoupling ramp you show.
There was the shell oil bottle and the lapel badge.
Mine had the battery controller so I had 3 bell batteries for it.
The batteries didn't last and my boxing day were dead.
No 24chourxshopping then plus also batteries were expensive, it was Christmas 1960 before I got a transformer..
Back to the bos artwork, they had everything including trains going over bridges for no good reason , a bit like your elevated station, but that wasn't the point. Thr point was it was so much fun.
When you are 6 the world is an exciting place, just watching a real steam locomotive or a trolleybus like we still had in London was pure magic.
I mention Trolleybuses as you showed them at the Leicester show.
How apt to see your trainset approaching Christmas, the memories flood back in and I can still smell the Christmas tree .
Of course I always wanted a trainset like yours withstuff wizzing around., and.all the bells and whistles.
Keep up the good work.
D
I
Hi Steven, thanks for looking in and sharing those memories of Christmas. The picture on the box lids definitely are a lot of fun and drive the imagination of what could be. Glad you enjoyed that footage from the show, the trolleybuses were wonderful items getting the pick up and return from the overhead. Very enjoyable to stand and watch..
All the best.
Oscar
A nice piece of footage you got there Oscar + a good running session!!! 🙂🚂🚂🚂
Nothing like coming across a stand full of red boxes . Can’t resist exploring . Layout looking good .
Thanks again Russell for taking the time to look in. Show was great fun with lots of great items to see.
Take care.
Oscar
@@oscarpaisley Always a pleasure . It’s my childhood revisited ( although you are a bit early . I was 1965 onwards !) .
Hi Oscar,
Thanks for doing a video which included some TCS footage. I am a TCS member, but was not able to attend the November meeting. Some interesting things on show there.
Your layout is now very interesting and I like the combination of different makes of models trains. I am now experimenting with Triang TT trains.
Regards
Mike.
Good Morning to you Oscar from Glasgow another great video 📹 from you Sir Enjoyed the video of the Show Thanks again for the video 📹
Good afternoon Cameron, thanks again for looking in. glad you enjoyed the video of the show. I was lucky enough to attend a local show this afternoon, video to follow early next year..
All the best
Oscar
A good video this morning Oscar, some great additions there and hope you had a good time at the show, keep up the great work.
Thanks David glad you enjoyed the video, had a terrific day with tons of stuff to see, very pleased with the items that came away with.
Take care.
Oscar

The Yellow Dock Switcher and freight cars, , along with the Davy Crockett was my first electric trains which i still have today ,, along with a bunch of extras ,, great video
Hi, great to hear you had these as a child and still have them now they are lovely items.
All the best
Oscar
Interested to see you acquired a red R66K. I'm not sure they qualify as rare but they certainly aren't common. I don't know how many were made but they only arrived (1956?) just before the change to the darker brown. I finally got my hands on one recently too. Always look forward to your latest video. Thank you.
Wonderful to see these old models being loved and used again. Very enjoyable video.
Thanks again for looking and lovely to hear you enjoyed the video.
Take care.
Oscar
Thank you for this morning's viewing, Oscar!
Some excellent footage from the show. Lovely to see all those old models (toys?) running so well. I especially liked the monorail and other similar items. The Trolly buses were wonderful - what a great idea!
Interesting to see the red Jinty running around. These were a push-along loco made by Budgie Toys, and came with either a label on the sides, or raised lettering. One featured at the beginning of every episode of Bag Puss! Lovely to see that someone has managed to fit a working chassis to one!
All the best, Gordon :-)
Hi Gordon, thanks again for watching and the information on the red Jinty on the 3 rail layout, trolly buses really were quite lovely to watch, not seen them before.
Take care.
Oscar
Those two figures definitely look like they're from the HD passengers set. I have two sets myself plus a set of station staff.
Hi thanks for looking in and the information about the figures, sounds like you have a great collection of these wonderful items.
Take care.
Oscar
At t/s 13:31 the cable waggons... I had one with Mk 2 couplings when I was little - It came with an elastic band when new, a thin brown one that was looped around the coupling bosses so that it was double when it passed over the cable drums and secured them in place.
Thanks for taking the time to watch Ken and the information. Much appreciated..
Oscar
Thanks Oscar, a really interesting video, I think those figures might be Trix, they look similar to a set I aquired with some signals and other bits, I can't see me getting to the Liecester show, mostly because I would spend a fortune !
Hi Paul, thanks again for watching and the info about the figures, Glad you enjoyed the video from the show, there are far too many tempting items for sale... along with those constant nagging thoughts! I could do that with that...
All the best.
Oscar
I really wish I had made it to that TCS meeting Oscar. There were some very different and interesting displays and you certainly came away with some great items. It is truly amazing to think of all the gems people have tucked away. Great running today. I really love your L1 and the 4 blood and custard coaches, it seems to be a perfect train. I have yet to come across one of those earlier motor bogies on the R55. I think the gem of all gems in this was the Princess with no broken or missing parts. I look forward to seeing that in action. David.
Hi David, it was a great day out with terrific things to see, I love those tinplate items and the monorail. Glad you liked the L1 with those shorter version of the blood and custard coaches, I do like that length of coach on the railway. I think you're right about the princess of the Victoria it's going to be a Favourites on the railway along with the 2-6-2. tank loco I got from Elaine recently.
All the best.
Oscar
Hi Oscar, Great video.. I really enjoyed the visit to the show.. Nice to see the Minic Bedford truck and 4 wheel trailer working
Interesting that you have just got some new wagons with wheels tight on the axles? I have some too, but a previous owner had actually put a drop of glue on the center gap of mine? They were fun to get freed up, but got them done in the end? The hard part (when the wheels will not turn at all on the axle,) is knowing which way (side) to press the axle out of the chassis?
Does your newly acquired "Island Canopy" use the canopies from the buildings, or does it only "look" similar? It would not have surprised me to find Tri-ang making use of the same part? I have always thought that is what was done?
The R 55 / 57 combo is too good to scrap? I'm sure that you will resurrect it? Cutting small circular windows and headlight lens from clear plastic will be a fun job though...
Thanks for another look at the layout... Love it..
Hi Robin glad you enjoyed the look at the show with the bits and pieces I came away with, I've come across the odd tough sets wheels to get out, fortunately glued together yet, but some so rusted it's not possible to get them out. The island canopy does use the same canopy sections as the buildings, excellent, planning on Tri-ang part. The canopies seem to stay in place even without the little tabs, the canopy is gripped all the way along its length, quite substantially by the roof section. You may be right about that The R 55 / 57 set, but there is a very heavy crack at the front of one of the units, there is tiny crack in the skirt/pilot on the power unit, but I think that will fix fine. I'll see what happens. I'm sure I'll have fun with it.
All the best.
Oscar
Hi, Lovely video, again, in some places coal was whitewashed so you could see if any had been ‘borrowed’!
Good morning Oscar, it's Martin from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Well I've just watched your latest video and as always it was excellent 👍 it also was very interesting to see the footage from the model railway exhibition. It was very interesting to see all the items you bought, the wagons, porters room / newspaper kiosk and station canopy and the box of items maybe for spares were all very interesting to see. I especially found the fold out double sided advertising paper very interesting as well.when you said that it would look nice if it was framed. I fully agree with you Oscar, maybe you could take it to a picture framing shop and ask them if they could photocopy both sides and then put each side in frames then put them side by side on the wall in your railway room. That way you can keep the original safe and away from the possibility of getting torn or something like that.that. well thank you for another lovely video Oscar and i look forward to seeing your next video. Well i am going to have my usual cup of tea 🍵 and my toasted tea cake. Keep safe Oscar and have a good week ahead. 👍🚂🚃
Good morning Martin, thank you again for taking the time to watch. Great to hear you enjoy the footage from the show. Great idea for fold out leaflet, It would be great to get these items copied so they could be displayed and looked at rather than sitting stored the way.
All the best.
Oscar
Lovely little haul of goodies Oscar.
Thankyou for the footage from the TCS.
Although some of those prices for Dublo on the stands are enough to make us in Australia weep.
We certainly pay a bit more of a premium here.
Hi, thanks for looking in glad you enjoyed the footage from the show.
All the best.
Oscar
Good morning Oscar. Great start to Sunday as usual. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing the exhibition. There were some interesting and quirky displays going on there. I am impressed with the quality of these old items and also how carefully they must be handled so as not to damage them in transit. I’m not sure I’d be brave enough! You got a good haul of goodies out of that visit as well. Enjoyed the running session as well. Thanks for sharing. Roy.
Hi Roy, glad you enjoyed the video, there were some lovely items to see, especially enjoyed trolleybuses with the pick up and return from the overhead.
Take care.
Oscar
Excellent Episode with so much Content 😵💫 I’m watching for the 2nd time already! 😅 Extremely Nice Haul of “Swag” and those items deffo had your name on them. Some Gorgeous items Running at the Show, as if Fresh out of the Factory 🤩 The Additional items you’ve recently added are really adding some Charm to the Layout, although I do realise,(as with myself), it’s all about the Trains and not so much the Scenics. The Yellow Switcher is Really Responsive, I’m glad she overran and had to go around again ☺️
Thanks for your Enthusiasm and Showing us your Efforts, Have a Great week 👏🏻✨
Hi Donni, thanks again for watching, I tried to avoid buying those things, I really did walk around and think well if they are there next time I'll get them and then talk myself out of it when they were... Did this a number of times throughout the day! Very enjoyable day.
Take care.
Oscar
Good morning Oscar, that's a nice haul you've got there, recognise some of those things, I've got the platform trolley they're lovely, unfortunately most of my items don't have boxes, I liked the doublo tin plate wagons, they are in amazing condition. The show looked good I was very taken with the working trolley buses, they were amazing. Some of those layouts went a lot of trouble, I don't know why but when I see some of the old 3 rail doublo items they really stir my emotions, must be because they were my first adventure into model railway. Enjoyed the running of trains around the Railway its always a highlight, this weekend with my railway guru Alfie (8) we've set up a oval of track around the Christmas tree, he's selected our Triang B12 with chuffing sound and some Triang pullman coaches to charge around. He would like us to put some lights on the train so we can have a ( train of lights),so wish me luck with that one. Great haul of goodies Oscar I'm sure you'll have a great time going through the box. I don't blame you for thinking of resurrecting the Princess Victoria it looks to good to be used as spares. Thanks again for your time and effort putting together the video, looking forward to next time Eddy. Xxx
Good evening Eddy, Christmas tree sounds great with the train running around it. Hope you have fun with the lights. Glad you enjoyed the footage and seeing the various Dublo items, I think I do prefer the tinplate items rather than the later largely plastic Super detailed items introduced into the range. Tinplate items just have such a lovely feel about them, along with a terrific sound when in motion. The Princess Victoria, I think is going to turn into one of those loverly items, great fun to run just like the very play worn 2-6-2 tank loco I got from Elaine's Trains a little while ago.
Take care, I hope you and your family are enjoying the festive season.
Oscar
Amazing video as always Oscar, keep up the good work!
Thank you glad you enjoyed that.
Oscar
Nice video Oscar 👍😀👍
Thanks, glad you enjoyed that.
All the best.
Oscar
Hi Oscar. I am confused when it comes to adding motor vehicles to my collection... There are so many variants and scales out there. I have procured some Minic Motorway items through the years which I want to incorporate into my layout. However these I know are not the same scale as the Triang/Hornby system. The Minic vehicles are also obviously much bigger than the Minix cars and using them both on the layout at the same time doesn't feel right.
I wondered if you were you thinking of introducing the Minic system into any forth coming projects?
When it comes to the earlier Triang stations and platforms. I tend to stay away from the acetate models as I don't like their tendency to warp.
I managed to pick up some good conditioned later poly model station buildings before I left South Africa for a very good price. The platform sections were discoloured with age, so I used a very close shade of grey from the Tamiya range of spray paints to freshen them up and hand lined the edges with matt white acrylic. They really look like new now. My station buildings were missing their canopies and I hand made new ones from a sheet of polystyrene and sprayed them. I attempted to attach a photo here but it wouldn't work.
I enjoy seeing all your new purchases. I particularly love getting things that weren't well loved and bringing them back to their previous lustre. I think that's what the hobby is all about.
Thanks for show us all the footage from the fair.
All good wishes to you and yours for the season and new year ahead.
Hi Brian, great to hear you enjoyed the footage from the show and seeing the items I came away with, if you have Minic Motorway, I would include it in a layout irrespective of the scale it's just such a lovely looking stuff. I don't have any in my collection! I've been very tempted a number of times in the last few years by Minic Motorway items, but I have so far resisted. I've tried to keep it relatively straightforward with the Tri-ang Railways items but that accidentally spilled over into collecting Hornby Dublo... Too many bad habits.
Take care and best wishes for the holiday season.
Oscar
Great stuff Oscar. I’d love to know how much you paid for these items. But maybe it’s not polite to ask. Looking forward to the restoration of Princess Victoria !
Hi Robin, the two parts (powered and non-powered) of the TC diesel locomotive, two TC wagons, Fish Van , Princess Victoria & Tender plus the two Maroon & Cream coaches were £30 the lot.
Thanks again for looking in.
Oscar
@@oscarpaisley … and worth every penny . Thanks!
Isn't it great to see made in England on those items? Rather than made in china!
