- It's one of only five B&M (Bolliger & Mabillard) sitting coasters, but is it the best or do you like Dragon Khan at PortAventura or the Incredible Hulk at Islands Of Adventure better?
Busch Gardens Tampa is located in Tampa, Florida.

I`ve rode a lotta coasters but i rate Kumba as one of the best. There are so many loops and twists and turns. The G forces and sheer speed of this coaster leave you breathless. It`s unrelenting and awesome. Love it!
@Mijelic22 absolutely yes! This is one of the best coasters I've ever been on. Even the noise it makes is incredible.
i absolutley LOVE the colour of this roller coaster :D
I knew it looked different! I was just there a couple of weeks ago, I just couldn't figure out what changed...
this is my favorite ride at bushgardens
My group rode this about 10 times during our school field trip! AWESOME RIDE!!!
Kumba is a true classic thrill coaster... It gives you that good thrill feeling every time.
Went to Busch Gardens a week and a half ago or so. This was my favorite ride there. Great coaster.
I'm going to Florida soon and this'll be the first time I've been 2 busch gardens in years! My favorite B&M sitter tho is kraken @ sea world. The first drop at the beginning fills u with adrenaline!!
I absolutely love this thing. I always ride it when i go, best ride there.
was in FL last week and rode about 15 coasters, In many ways, this one's the best of all.
Best seat of the ride, one of the back two corners in the last row. The entire train pulls you down and you'll whip around on the first drop. So intense.
kumba recently got a paint job, and looks wonderful! it no longer looks like it's rusting, it looks like it was brand new.
I'm going on that ride today for the first time! xD
When I went to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay everyone had flocked to Montu and Sheikra but Kumba over in the far corner of the park was deserted.
I Don't know why coz this is definitely in my top 10 favourite coasters!!
Went on this yesterday twice. First time was fun, but the second time was great. Front seat, at sunset, with a cool breeze. It was so awesome xD
Truly awesome all round coaster, not as intense as The Hulk but more smooth IMO. Great coaster for first timers too. 8/10
The godfather of modern coasters!
thorpe park got best rides in the uk, colosuss, best in uk...wat i love bout this ride most tho is that even on a day wen the park is packed, there is never or barely a queue, coz there is so much in other places...i went last year in august, stayed at the coco key resort in orlando, i think kumba was one of the best rides i have been on while on holiday, recomended to all roller coaster lovers
@twobimmers Yes it is! You can tell because it has their signature pre-drop, and it seats 4 across. B&M coasters are the best!!
This coaster is awesome...and loud. One of my favorites.
Love this ride!! It's so much fun
i just went to busch gardens 4 days ago on vacation and all the coasters are fun. Kumba has the sound of a panther.
This coaster defined what B&M coasters are about.
i have been on this, its such a mint ride :)
Coasterforce I just wanted to say you guys are awesome and I would KILL to have your job, i LOVE rollercoasters, keep posting more videos and are you guys going to Darien Lake, NY again because thats the park we go since its near us.
My favourite coaster along with manta (only because of that amazing pretzel loop!). This is better than thae hulk and dragon khan combined, but theyre are still amazing coasters...this is just so forceful non-stop, beginning to end...amazing, brilliant, cant wait to go to florida to ride this again in 3 weeks :D
I've been on this, Dragon Khan and the Hulk Coaster and i think that they are all awesome! I can't decide which one is the best!
@twobimmers Oh, yeah. Boliger and Malibard. I think that they're German.. They did Hulk, Dragon Challenge, Sheikra, Montu, Kraken, and a ton of other coasters.
@ciriliox it is amazing. While you are going up the lift through the loop, you notice how close the loop track is to the lift rails. I ducked when we went through the loop, even though i know coasters arent dangerous!
SO TRUE
This has to be one of the best B&M Sitdown Coaster Which I have Ridden :)
This ride is a true classic and a must ride if you go to Busch Gardens. I live 5min from it! It's better than the Hulk IMO. It's smoother, and better paced.
@Mikeb1001 My favorite of which being the one on Dragon Challenge. Hoping that it'll be dueling again soon.
@Epicvideos333 It's not anymore. It was repainted. Also, it doesn't really matter if it is. In my country, we have thos coaster which on all the paint has ''fallen'' off and it's a bit rusty and dirty here and there but it's still perfectly safe. They would not operate a coaster if there was any doubt about the rides safety.
ive been to bucsh gardens 1 hundred times. and i never heard of this ride
thats exactly the way a good coaster has to be we need more of this kind in germany ;D
my favorite roller coaster!!!!!
@AFTERBURN1234 I think the rust adds a nice touch. Nothing better than an aged B&M.
love this ride been on every ride here
This is my favorite coaster. The g's are very intense in the corkscrews and in the helix at the end, i literally felt like 500 pounds, very intense. And the coaster just got repainted a couple months ago, and looks great, but its already starting to rust around the cobra roll and the tunnel, it will only last like a year or so. And even if it was still rusty so? It dosent make the ride any different or boring just because its rusty.
i went on this five days ago yet my dad went on it when it opened
this ride must be old ... think last time i rode that was in 2000 ... i will return this year :):) greetz from good old germany
its always been that way, i always go on it like 4 times in a row ^_^
Im going on this very soon
Nowing that this coaster get's rust on it's track every few years,I have always wonder with every coaster is how do they re-paint the ride do they like walk on the track?
this ride is fucken awesome. when did it first open?
are you going to film a new version of this ride like you have of all the other florida coasters?
@CptnCrps to be honest im going there tomorrow! wait times depend on the day, its one of my favorite parks in the world. all the coasters are amazing, with kumba being my favorite. i totally suggest you go there
I never knew they had an older video of this
i love this ride :D
@ZMan036
This is a bit rougher then Raging Bull because it is old (built in 1993) but it still provides a smooth ride.
@tff1293 Facts about both
Designer: Werner Stegner
Manufacturer: Bolliger & Mabillard
Height Restrictions:4'6"
Kumba Opening Date: April 20, 1993
Medusa/Bizzaro Opening Date(s): April 2, 1999/ May 23 2009
Therefore the latter looks like the former
Kumba elements
'Kumba' means 'Roar' the roar being created by the B&M signature hollow spine and rails
A 114-foot-tall vertical loop, which wraps around the lift hill
B&M's first-ever diving loop
Zero-G roll
Cobra roll
2 Interlocking corkscrews
Answering to your description... I think I like Dragon Khan more than Kumba, but it was very very hard to decide. Both are awesome and unique. I think I like Dragon Khan because of his off ride view too...
Also, I like the transitions of kumba between elements more than in DK. That's why is a difficult decission...
Sorry for my english.
This coaster has 7 inversions, Dragon Khan has 8. However, they are both B&M sitters, so thats probably why you got them confused
Loved this ride!
Love this ride
Is this smoother than Raging Bull at Six Flags Great AMerica? Because I want to go here one day.
If you go to like um Disney world, and stay like around those places (magic kingdom etc) is this park close to that?
you have GOT to ride it its awesome!!!
ah the good times, i remembered when i was dragged against my own will to ride it
Despite the fact that the Incredible Hulk Coaster at UIOA is the best of the B&M sitters, I gotta give Kumba honors! I live less than 20 miles from BGTB and is among the great coasters for locale!
@KidFromTheCourtFilms , not the whole thing is rusted.
just the sides of it
@tommybrett YEAH! IT ALSO LOOKS LIKE MOST OF THE CHAIN LIFTS THAT ROLLER COASTERS HAVE.
@julixjt its about an half an hour away, atleast that's how far it takes me to get to Disney World, and i live 20 minutes away from this park ( this park is named Busch Gardens Africa). if you do go, this ride and Montu and Sheikra are the Must-Dos :)
@RiLeY2011 true, but I think this is the original, and the rest followed suit. I've heard this one is the best of them all though.
This is really loud im here in tampa and im going there tomorrow......i was on it once and the srupid bars got stuck wen the ride was over....its like exit to your left, we r having tecnical difficulties with the bars, i was hyperventalating...other than that great coaster
Wait, one in five Bolliger and Mabillard sitters? What's the difference between that and a hyper coaster other than height?
I prefer Diamondback over the others...but that's because I haven't ridden an other B&M sit down coasters...although I plan to in a few summers with a friend of mine.
I'm so going to ride next time I go bush gardens .
@CoolChaChaD Also has the signature interlocking corkscrews!
That ride is awesome. I was so dizzy i couldnt walk straight for awhile
This is almost an identical track layout to the floor-less roller coaster bizaro (formerly medusa) at six flags great adventure in Jackson NJ.
Best ride I've been on, just so god damn forceful it's unbelievable!!!
cool coaster, i love the jungle theme.
How long is the usual wait time for this ride cause im going on a weekday in July.
Kumba, Montu, and Cheetah hunt are my favorite rides at BGT, Sheikra would be too if it wasn't so short.
i have rode ever ride in busch gardens and they are great
@CoolChaChaD nonono...communication error...i was asking wat b&m means...im assuming its the manufacturer of the coaster
Out of the two Floridian B&M sit-downs, I'd have to say that I prefer this over the Hulk. While the Hulk is awesome in the first half with the launch and everything, it suffers from the same problem that Mantis @ Cedar Point has (I know Mantis is a Stand-up, but that's beside the point) in that it can't quite keep the action going all the way to the end. This, on the other hand, can keep the action going with the interlocking corkscrews and the dive underground into an upward helix.
why does b&m no longer manufacture sit down coasters anymore? theres only this, wildfire, dragon khan, and the incredible hulk.
I was on this 2 years ago during a rain storm and the very top was struck by lightening straight after we got off (:
This ride is amazing
Im Going On This Next Week !! lol for Skool :P
Great coaster! Would love to ride it someday. Needs some TLC though! Rusty as s**t.
i miss Florida so much in fact when your driving to the park on the highway you can hear the screams of the people on this one and you can see it its to funny!
Try riding this at night! :p
It's so awesome!
The tunnel is pitch black.
can u flim the rides at bush gardens
it is just the color of the sides or are they rusty
a good coaster i went on it 3 months ago
IS IT ME OR IS THIS RIDE EXACTLY THE SAME AS DRAGON KHAN IN PORT AVENTURA?
yeah Ive got to say the track didnt look like that When I went on it they definetly redid it.
Is the track rusty or is it just painted to look like that? Or did the paint wear away because of all the years of wheels going over it? Is this one of the few bumpy B&M rides? Please respond.
@wwwCOASTERFORCEcom, what are the chances they will let me film on this ride, and how easy is it to hold a camera without a strap on it?
Looks awesome!!!
for some reason i feel sooooooo badass after riding this
i love this ride but i keep hitting my head on the seatbelt and it give me a huge headache
Comentxxx, do u go to curry middle
@bladess3
Just don't let your fears get the best of you! I used to be terrified of roller coasters, since I didn't want to go upside down. I learned how fun it is! You would be missing a lot if you don't ride this.. it's a great roller coaster! :)
I was terrified my first time on this, but I had a blast.
How does Kumba compare with Incredible hulk at Island's of adventure? Both are B&M sitters and I've been to Universal a few times but it will be my first time going to Busch gardens next year. By the looks, I think I'd still like hulk more than this but I hear lots of people like Kumba more than Hulk. But others also complain about the roughness of Kumba (I've heard some of that from hulk though but I never found it that bad). Now, obviously, Kumba doesn't have that launch in it but it's probably the layout people like more or something.
Hulk is a lot of fun in the beginning, the launch is pretty powerful, and exiting it into a barrel roll is fun, but after the midcourse run it kind of fizzle's out, whereas Kumba maintains all the way through to the end.
