Thanks for the video. I bought a new front tire for my dirtbike from Bike Bandit off ebay. The dealer wanted 45.00 just to change the tire. That was with me bringing in the rim and tire. I checked youtube to see if there was a video to see if I could do it myself. I followed your instructions and saved myself 45 bucks. Thanks! I'll be sure to purchase my rear tire from bike bandit as well when the time comes.
Steve Mathis thanks a ton for the vids I may not agree 100% with everything (pressure washing bikes) but sure do respect that stellar record. You've helped me pretty much go through my entire bike other than motor rebuild. That was all me :D
Thanx Steve had a wee bit of grief getting my 21" tire on - watched your clip and technique and worked a charm - will say though I done both my front and rear tires and rear was a lot easier than front - first time I have done dirt bike tires and took me most of the day - hopefully next time it should only take a 3rd of a day lol :)
There's no way I'd have that smooth of an experience, lol. I'm taking my front wheel to the bike shop. Let them deal with it, LOL. Nice video. One day, maybe I'll give it a shot myself...
For real 😂 some people makes tires look so easy, they’re one of the very few things I will pay for a shop to do. Will do everything myself besides suspension(minus changing fork oil), tires and bottom end work
Got the rim of my bike broke the bead, after an hour of trying to get the tire of gave up dropped it of at SAMs cycle supplies $10 and 20 minutes later it was all done back on my bike in 5 minutes (:
Always use Baby power on the tube or inside the tire. Never run a tire iron behind the valve stem area. That is the place you want to finish your install with irons on each side of the valve stem. Also, especially on rear tires, it's helpful to occasionally put a tire iron on the opposite side and make sure the bead stays near the center of the rim, makes things much easier. A true tire stand that allows you to secure the tire is easier as well, at least for the rear. Don't stand on your disc.
My dad and i have each pinched and ruined the existing tube trying to get tires back together over the years. Your video has inspired me to try again. Is there a specific amount of air/no air that should be in the tube. i do always try to go back with heavy duty tubes. Is there specific tire iron styles/lengths/brands that are better? Honda XR350/400/500 if that makes a difference? Thanks!
xr5000 Like the old saying goes, "If at first you don't succeed, try again." At least tubes are pretty inexpensive. Try putting in just enough air to give the tube some shape. Length of tire irons gives you leverage so you don't need to use as much force. There are one that have a spoon lip, a "bite" lip to grab the rim, and a couple other variations. When in the garage, use ones that make it easy. Remember though to practice with the irons that you carry on the trail, so that you can do it when it really matters most. I find that baby powder sprinkled on the tube helps quite a bit. Most important thing is to take your time and be smooth. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching our videos. Please remember to subscribe too.
Does the valve stem nut go on the inside of the rim or outside of the rim? and how much pressure did you use on the rear tire to get the bead all the way around the rim on both sides? Thanks! The videos are very helpful.
Change title of this video to tire wrestling...Lol My local power sports dealers will only do this for you if you buy tires from him. One other dealer said his tire guy quit so he doesn't do them an another shop wants $70 per tire if they are off the bike, $200 if you bring an leave the bike. This seems like hiway robbery???
one nut go's on the inside but only one and none on out side. you can put one on when puting tire on so it dose not get lost in rim. and you should run 13 pounds but 35-40 to pop bead
Seriously seems like in these vids they have latex tires or something, it looks so easy, maybe it was just that by bikes tire that was old which made it so damn hard.
Does a guy balance these tires like on a car? I have a dual sport and instead of having a shop do this, I'd like to learn to be more self sufficient! Any thoughts? Is balancing these tires critical? Maybe I'm thinking more along the lines of when I get to hwy speeds. Thanks gang!!
69adrummer Hey 69,Rarely do people balance MX tires, but when it comes to the dualsport crowd, then it gets a bit more common. It really depends on how much road riding you're doing on knobbies. Check out a company called Counteract on our website. a very cool technology that uses tiny beads that balance the tire when under way. They can be used on all types of tires...offroad, dualsport, ADV, quads, and street bike tires. Thanks for watching our videos and for the question. You remembered to subscribe to our channel, right?
69adrummer Our pleasure to assist in any way we can. Never hesitate to ask questions as they arise. You know who else is a huge motorcyclist? Neil Peart, the drummer from RUSH. Truly amazing! Have fun and ride safe out there 69!
Soon as I get the tube & tire on and Start riding next thing of what happened to me is that the tube has a whole in it & I spent 3 n half hours just for a new tire..
Jo Thing Hey Jo,The process is basically the same fro all bikes that run spokes (except the BMW 1200GS's) and tubes. Thanks for watching our videos and for the question. You remembered to subscribe, right?
Jo Thing Spokes = thin but strong wires that run from the hub to the rim. These must run tubes as without them the air would escape past the holes where the spokes meet the rim. Feel free to ask any questions you have Jo. That's why we're here.

Bro How you do that? I can't do that in 5 hours bro you a beast
Thanks for the Video. Don't you need to balance the wheels before you put them on the bike?
Not on a dirt bike, maybe on a street bike!
There's no way I'd have that smooth of an experience, lol. I'm taking my front wheel to the bike shop. Let them deal with it, LOL. Nice video. One day, maybe I'll give it a shot myself...

Don't worry about the Troll's you save me at least $25.00 from every video you do! Job well done.
Got the rim of my bike broke the bead, after an hour of trying to get the tire of gave up dropped it of at SAMs cycle supplies $10 and 20 minutes later it was all done back on my bike in 5 minutes (:
I just spent an hour replacing my tire Jesus Christ you make it look easy.

Anyone know what bolts and nuts go where on the front tire, I fixed up the front tire air tube nuts and bolts and the place holder
changing them for different track conditions?
At what point did you tighten down the rim lock?
+Craig Dieterich

I don't think he did. I was wondering the same thing.
It's pretty important to just skip.

is it normal procedure to put 40psi in first and then back it down?
i think a dirt bike front tire is only supposed to be 17 psi

one nut go's on the inside but only one and none on out side. you can put one on when puting tire on so it dose not get lost in rim. and you should run 13 pounds but 35-40 to pop bead

BikeBandit thanks but what does it mean when it runs on spokes? i new to dirt biking and still learning
Jo Thing Spokes = thin but strong wires that run from the hub to the rim. These must run tubes as without them the air would escape past the holes where the spokes meet the rim. Feel free to ask any questions you have Jo. That's why we're here.
