Wow, what a beautiful truck! I just bought a 1979 K5 in Carmine Red/Frost white special two tone. Mine does not have the exterior decor package though. My hood has rust on the front lip and needs to be replaced but the rest of the truck is in very good condition. I am thinking of painting the hood in the exterior decor package way and add the hood ornament. What do you think about that? I just love the striped hoods on that package. My 79 GM bulletin says the yellow stripe was available in that package in 1979.
I still have my 1978 BIG10 SWB 454 that I special ordered in mariner blue, code #25. I wanted a blazer but I had to have a 454 and it was not available in the blazer. I tow my race car enclosed trailer with and it has 83,700 miles mostly due to the fact that before I retired I always had a company car to drive, not to mention 10 mpg at best. It gets 7.75 mpg pulling the trailer with the A/C on and 8.75 A/C off. I completely disassembled it in the mid 90’s and repainted it. I plan to do a walk around video soon and will post it here on TH-cam. I wonder how much this one sold for, I have my truck insured with Hagerty for $45,000.00 but need to increase it.
