Great video, considering an inflatable at the moment after selling my sit on which I wasn’t using due to it being a faff. Also nice to see some familiar sites - just found this channel so have subscribed. Recently moved to the area so will use you to find new places to visit! Cheers.
Thanks for the comment. I have a playlist on locations locally and one on kit, lots of inflatable kayaks in there for different budgets. I watched one of your vids, do you know about R/C yachts? I have my late sons and I’m sure the rigging is wrong, I’d love to get it going again.
Cool, this and other models are currently on sale and I ordered a "one seater" for ~333€ - I'm about the same height as you so your video gives me a lot of useful input and hints, thanks a lot.
Love your review. I've had the same kayak for about 6 months, am fairly new to paddling (had a cheap 3-person inflatable before) and have used the Story about 5 times now. Verdict? I love it to bits. I had the same stability concerns initially and removed the seat padding but have now replaced it with a more comfortable cushion and have got used to the slightly less stable feel, to the point that I'm now perfectly comfortable (I'm 5' 6"). The seat took a bit of sorting but persistence has definitely paid off. I bought new and the pump has been great, as has the paddle, although I may invest in a better one simply because I fancy something posh. Maybe I can borrow yours? HA! Love the storage capacity. It'll take loads of gear so it's going to be perfect for a camping trip. Durability seems ace. I've scraped it on the bottom going down a weir and beaching but you really wouldn't know. Totally agree, it moves very well through the water; love that about it. The high sides offer some protection against a cold wind too, which is something I hadn't considered. Anyway, sorry for banging on a bit.
Just laughed out loud at the paddle part! Brilliant! I’ve just done a review of the Gul Kynance and have a review of Tue Aquaglide Chelan 155 coming soon. If you need a paddle/camping buddy one day I’m down for it. Have kayak, will travel!
@@TheOptimisticAdventurer Hey Dom, absolutely, come on down, it would be great to have you along. As I say, I'm fairly new to this and currently sussing out good stretches of water for some paddle-camping in spring (not long now!). I'll subscribe, check out those reviews of yours and give you shout when camping trips are planned. Don't forget to bring 'our' paddle! Ho ho.
Just tested mine in the cold waters of Siikajoki, northern Finland. I’ll say that the boat is great in calm waters. With the fin it’s a pleasure to paddle forward. It’s light and faster than the hard-shell white-waters kayak of my brother. About the materials, it’s more than capable of taking hits from rocks etc. Very durable. But absolutelly do not take it to rapids unless you’re prepared to swim. In its core it is a SUP-board with walls. With a propper seat it might work. What happened to me was that you could not get a good grip to sit on it, thus moving the center of gravity to the sides and giving you a nice swim. I really enjoyed paddling and it seems like a great fishing kayak. It might also be that im not used to it yet since my previous inflatable was a Coleman Fastback that was impossible to tip over.
Thanks Dave. Glad to be of help. Going to test it out on the sea soon. Thanks for subscribing, I’m trying hard to build the channel into something good.
Cheers for the review lowering the seat makes sense, looking at potentially buying this or paying a bit more for a Gumotex or Seagle Explorer as will be kayaking with the wife so stability is important. I like the idea this cuts through the water though and from other reviews t tracks really well
It's certainly not like any of the older style inflatable canoes/kayaks. Definitely a design that is going to take off but for me the Sevylor Colorado was the king.
I also own a single seater Glider , have owned for 15months , used mostly touring 95 miles of Scottish North Sea Coastline in various sea conditions from glass calm to 0.9 m of swell .....have my legs strapped into both sides using rubber straps, holding me steady/ upright in choppy conditions adding in stability, also use a Palm kayak hand pump fitted next to seat ,with hose running down into drain plug loops at lower point for ease of baling out.
Excellent honest review. What a change. So many "reviews" of inflatable reviews out there that aren't if you know what I mean. Just moved to the coast and are looking to get an inflatable kayak for inshore on calm days. It's on the bucket list. Love a review or a video for novices on what to look for. To my non expert eyes, the flat hull and small single keg looked a design problem. Just goes to show what I don't know. Every where intex is heavily pushed. Thoughts? Itiwit?
If you're staying inshore and only going out on calm days my personal recommendation would be a Sevylor Colorado or it's smaller cousin. I'm a big lad so this one was never going to be right for me and was way too advanced a ride for the wife. I've not got any experience with Itiwit so wouldn't be fair for me to make a judgement either way.
Looking at replacing my solid triumph 13 to save space on my touring van I Want to tour coast lines what’s your thoughts May have to buy one to try Great informative vid ! Music a bit distracting 😂
I don’t think I’d like it on the sea. I’ve done a lot for f kayak fishing up to 1.5m offshore (Bristol Channel) and when the sea turn nasty I’d not want to be in this. I know there’s more wind resistance but I prefer a much more stable platform that I know will handle rough seas. Next review is the Aquaglide Chelan 155, coming soon. I agree about the music, my channel is quite new and I’m learning all the time. I really appreciate your feedback.

If you’re under 80kg this will be an ace boat for you, it will take some practice to master though as it’s a fast and agile vessel. I started out with a Sevylor Colorado, that was awesome but their build quality has gone down in their later models.
Great review...have you got any experience of a seyvlor? Looking at either a 3 man story or the sevylor ottawa...anyone got any comparison experience? 👍
Ottawa all the way. The Story was an early adopter of the drop stitch style but it’s not fantastic. Sevylor (in my opinion) are a great mid price range brand. I’ve loved all my Sevylor boats (except the cheap Riviera).
Hated it. Thought it was going to be great but something just wasn’t right for me and I passed it on after 5 or 6 trips. I used to go out deep, mile or so offshore and I never trusted it or liked the handling of it.
How did you manage to keep a nozzle inside the hole when inflating mine is always falling out. Someone else has to keep it for me all the time, Am I missing something?
