I got this laptop back in Nov 2017 specc'd out exactly how he reviewed it. It's been a year now and his review his 100% accurate. First, I bought it off the shelf at the local Best Buy. It was $749.99 + tax. Second, while I bought it specc'd out the way he had it, over the past year I was able to upgrade to a 512GB M.2 NVMe, 32GB of memory and threw in a 500GB SATA SSD. The memory upgrade and additional SATA SSD only took me about 5 minutes to complete each due to the quick access panel. The physical work to upgrade the M.2 took about the same amount of time, but I did a drive clone from the stock M.2 to the newer, larger M.2. I play a myriad of games AND use this laptop for work every day. This thing is a beast. It holds up flawlessly. My machine still looks and feels brand new even though I throw it in my bag and carry it with me everywhere. I work in IT and travel between customer sites on the daily (MSP engineer). It stealthily sits in conference rooms with me at work (I actually get compliments on it regularly) and it churns out the frames without a hiccup at night. If I were to go back to purchase day, I'd do it all over again without a second thought.
Hello sir, can you answer one thing to me, please? Does this laptop make a lot of noise when gaming? The only games that I will probably install are Overwatch and Apex Legends. I had the opportunity to use an Asus ROG Strix Scar Edition and it was so noisy that I had to return. Thanks in advance
Matthew Moniz What's the best, the dell inspiron 15 7000series (as configured) or the acer predator Helios 300? please respond idk which one to pick and I need help. Maybe you could do a comparison if it's not to much please!!!!!
So I just bought this exact laptop you've reviewed: Dell Inspiron 15 7567 8GB Ram 256GB SSD No HDD, Intel Core i5 7300HQ, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050TI, and etc. however, I have this problem with the laptop that no one else has ever had before, confirmed after hours of research to fix this problem. I cannot record at all, no matter what software or application. I think this has something to do with either the CPU or GPU, or both... I tried obs, but the preview screen is black and records a black screen. I've tried Action Mirillis, sometimes it works, but when it does, it crashes my applications like Minecraft or fortnight; but when it doesn't work, it just doesn't start to record Nvidia's own recording application from the GeForce experience keeps saying "A supported game is required to use this feature", no matter whether I'm playing a game or not. Windows Xbox recorder/capture just records for a few seconds, and then it says that my recording has failed. Therefore, there is absolutely no way I am able to record on my laptop, and this is really frustrating because sometimes I want to get some clips of my gaming experiences, or etc. My last two options are to either do a system restore (keep in mind that this laptop is new, I bought it a few days ago, and I've never changed any settings related to the pc itself or CPU/GPU). If the system restore/factory reset doesn't work, I'd have to return it or replace it from amazon. Does anyone have a clue for how I can fix this recording problem, or any solutions? My drivers are all up to date, I've even created a second user account to see if the same problem applies to all user accounts, or the whole laptop in general... Thank you for reading my concern.
very nice review Matthew!!!may I suggest if you can , from the next review could you test cad programs like autocad or revit on these kind of laptops too? I think it will be very usefull for some professionals how want to see the performance in these laptops. cheers
I picked this over the Helios because of it's build quality. I have toddlers, and they are good are breaking things. This laptop with its build quality and bland color scheme keeps them from messing with it too much. lol.
I got the -15.6” FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Anti-Glare LED-Backlit Display -Intel Core™ i5-7300HQ Quad Core (6MB Cache, up to 3.5 GHz) -8 GB 2400MHz DDR4 -NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB GDDR5 -256 GB M.2 and added a 1TB GB 5400 rpm hard drive / another 8 GB of memory very happy with my purchase
I drove 40 minutes to a Best Buy JUST to get the IPS version of this game laptop... I could have grabbed the TN panel version from one that was only 10 minutes away, but I figured since this would be something I could use for the rest of my life, I wanted something that I would enjoy looking at. This laptop is worth what you pay for, even moreso since best buy doesn't make hardly any profits from selling computers, but rather selling side-stuff like warranties and what-not. So all in all, this is the best piece of equipment you can get for the price point.
Bought this laptop last month with the i7 and 1050ti. Haven't had a chance to properly use it yet, but I'll be taking out the battery since it'll always be at a desk at work/home. Lighter to carry it around and don't need to bother charging it all the time.
I got mine a few days ago. Unfortunately I got the TN panel version. Yes I knew it beforehand, yes it's total crap, no I don’t mind. I'm planning on using it mostly with an external monitor. Also love the materials used and it’s great battery life. I'm not a gamer, the reason I needed a laptop with a beefy g. card is because I use software with gpu 3d rendering for my work, so there gpu matters a lot. Sadly when it comes to laptop or single graphics card reviews for that matter, reviewers tend to focus only in game framerates and it's only natural, since these laptops are exactly that, gaming laptops. But there’s also us, people who buy them for professional applications. Yes some reviewers refer to video rendering times, but I was wondering, wouldn’t it be great for a unique way of testing to be adopted, where for example the reviewer would test and provide results from rendering times of a downloadable 3d test scene for a popular 3d soft like 3dstudio, or even an open source one like blender, so that a user could download and test it in his own machine and compare results? Same with a video test scene in premiere perhaps. Cause in games there is a common ground of testing, everyone can play overwatch for example and compare framerates. But for professional 3d stuff there is no way of comparing what the performance gain would be from buying this new laptop with the 1050ti compared to your old 960m equipped machine and thus decide whether it's worth upgrading. Ofcourse that would require from the reviewer to get acquainted with these 3d software, or at least one, but still it would be a great deal of help for a, not as big as the gamers, but still large community of users out there. Anyway just some thoughts. Great review as always!
My thoughts too, i will probably buy this one before the end of summer for 3d cad rendering and modeling, but you can´t find anyone to tell you how does it perform, only games
have mine for a week now. I like the material but the surface coating gonna get scratch or get rubbed off like other accessories I have the same coating on. Now I'm waiting for a sticker to wrap this baby.
I actually bought this laptop with the i7-7700hq and 1050 ti for about 1200 US dollars in Asia with the TN Panel. The TN panel was awful when watching movies at night with low brightness and the viewing angles were just as bad. I went to the nearest tech mall and picked up an IPS 15.6 inch panel (LP156WF6) for an extra 100 US dollars. I have to say that this makes the laptop much more enjoyable for content consumption and gaming - I highly recommend picking up an IPS display for this laptop if you have not already.
thank you so much for this video, i was looking into this laptop earlier but I turned it down as you are aware the display was not up to the mark at all so i started looking somewhere else, but now things are looking a lot better with an IPS display on this beautiful machine. Thank you!
Quite possibly the best review of this notebook I've seen. Love that you added the connectivity B-roll - very useful to see how deep that SD card slot is and how much space is between ports. Also really loving the high-quality 24 FPS cinematic shots. Keep up the good work!
Matthew Moniz very slick. As a guy who uses an SD card a LOT (smartphone storage, photography, video), I appreciate it. Haven't seen a lot of other reviewers show this.
I'll be very honest I didn't use to enjoy your reviews and found them disappointing when I started checking your videos out (Probably an year or so ago). But you've improved leaps and bounds, and I totally check out all of your videos. Thoroughly enjoyable work. Cheers !! :)
I just came back from bestbuy and the sound in this system is awesome! The only concern is that it is heavy. I can see myself with back pain buy carrying this thing. But it is a really good and decent computer.
I have this laptop and it's AMAZING for the price. I highly recommend it. The only problem I have is that the tail cover (on the rear covering the fans) breaks VERY easily. Don't put to much pressure on those little "x" supports, they'll snap like a twig. Other than that, I've never had a problem with it.
still rocking mine. Solid build. The spec is okey at that time. I bump the internal ram to 32gb and nvme ssd. Changing the screen(mine tn) to ips. Still run respectible imo. Just need to lower your expectation when playing new game due to it already 4 years old.
Just got this thing with the regular 1050 for 400 bucks in new condition, feels way better than the helios 300 i paid nearly 1k for. Folks the quality you get by using this keyboard, speakers, screen, and overal feel of this laptop is just far superior to that of the acer predator! But if it just performance you seek the predator wins.
Love the review, and thanks for the information about the hard drive slot, that is exactly what i needed to know, as in the exact information i was searching for. Great review, so far i love this thing, and i can get about 4 hours out of it gaming [turn off the keyboard lights, turn down the backlight, and end processes you don't need.]
Nice timing. I actually just ordered the 4k IPS version with 512GB SSD version. Its original price is 1500 Euro but I got it with 10% discount so its 1350 Euro. Cant wait for it ! :)
I got mine a few days ago. The red version looks so much better than I thought it would. I got the white keyboard too, much better than the tacky red one.
David Finni Really? I am looking to buy this laptop from Best Buy (its $1200 on sale right now) and was afraid it is a TN panel, not IPS. Are you sure?
Thicc I got mine for about $800, if it’s $1200 then either you’re getting ripped off or it’s this laptop but with a 1060 gtx. Pretty damn sure it’s and ips panel, no way to prove really just gotta take my word, I would know.
Looking to buy this fella but it might be a couple months. By that point, is it even worth buying or should I wait to see what 2018's selection holds? First time buying a laptop for myself and the one I use now is from 2010.
Evan Ehlers the amd ryzen powered laptops will be coming soon. If not better than the current offerings they will at least drive prices down. So hold a bit
Marcus Lewis thanks. I'm broke at the moment so I guess the decision was made for me at this point. I'll just save up and see what's out when I've saved up enough to reach my price range. Thanks again.
Bought it couple months ago with the ips screen, still watching reviews just to boost my ego knowing I made the right buying choice :) Seriously, I don't see a reason buying a better laptop than this; if you want better performance, please just make it a desktop instead. Maybe it's also worth getting a thin & light mac if you want to be more professional for school and work though...
Although they changed the panel to an Ips (Lp156wf6 SPM3) ... the panel is still bad, bluish and too bright with 50% rgb and 25ms ... the good thing is that it is very easy to change it and adjust the kelvin degrees in win10. The funny thing is that all the games have 50% Rgb and the panels are relatively equal. The alternatives for this model are varied: if you want a gamut of 72% of colors you will have to get used to 30 ms of screen refresh to play (Ltn156hl02-201 or B156han01.2), but to work in graphics it will be reasonably well. There are also 120Hz (B156htn05.2) but there is no brightness control so with 300nit of brightness you will be fine playing outdoors and at night you will have a free natural tan. Another alternative is the Nv156fhm-n31 panel, a 45% Rgb hybrid, 800: 1 contrast, 30ms, 220 nit, 85/85/85/85 view, ADs. There is something for everyone.
Thanks Matthew. I've had my 1060ti 7700 with a TN screen for 3 years, but not used it as much as I'd liked. Is it easy to self-fit an IPS screen and can I just buy an IPS off ebay and put it in...? Cheers
Hey Matthew! Can you tell me which laptop can last longer and has a good cooling system? Dell Inspiron 7567 or Lenovo Legion Y520? And which one would you choose?
Hey amazing review man, keep it up Can u compare the HP Omen with Dell Inspiron 7567... it will be a blast comparision man... Thx and Keep It up man....
Please do Dell Inspiron 15 7000 (with new ips panel) Vs. Acer Nitro 5. I've been through many budget gaming laptops and is all comes down to these two. If there is another laptop that is better than both of these laptops and is still under &800 please add it in the competition.
Is this laptop a good choice for photo editing? I read and heard good reviews about the laptops build quality and performance, but not much is said about the display.
I find this laptop to be letdown by a small design element, the keyboard location (too far back meaning you can lean your hand while sitting and reach), the lower front side cuts into your wrists, and the corners can seriously poke you. Otherwise it is solidly built despite a bit heavy and very quiet although I wish I could increase the fan speed to keep the chassis cooler for comfort. It is good on paper, but I'm not 100% in love with it to be honest, it leaves something ergonomically to be desired.
great review, have one concern, I'm planning to purchase this model, but not sure if I connect this with 144hz Asus monitor and can play csgo on 144hz? Thank you
haha I can now sleep at night and no longer have nightmares of Haris ljaz yelling at me to review it = ) Im kidding, glad I could bring you the review! Let me know how you like it when you get it!
Matthew Moniz I will definitely let you know about it dear. Thanks again. You're getting better and better day by day which is so nice to watch. Keep rocking!
Hello matthew, I will buy a budget gaming laptop. And In my country, helios 300 hasnt come yet. Please make a review about Hp omen mid 2017 1050ti. Does it worth it? Also i want to buy acer v17 792g. Because of screen and speaker. Should i buy it? Does it overheat? Also, vx 15 omen mid 2017 and inspiron? Which is best? Please make a comparision.
The helps is giant and since I plan for this too be my school laptop I'm going with the 7567 I heard the 77 has less battery life. This one sounds awesome for school and gaming
Hello Matthew, I have ordered the same laptop and i will get it probably in the first week of august. Can you suggest me something from the battery health point of view that would i play games while plug it with charger or on battery life for longer battery health. Some peeps suggest that its bad for battery's health to play games on charging. Please share your experience of gaming laptops.

I got a small crack on the case by the charging port....

that natural daylight though! 🔥 video brother!
Thanks Broseph!!!
Matthew Moniz What's the best, the dell inspiron 15 7000series (as configured) or the acer predator Helios 300? please respond idk which one to pick and I need help. Maybe you could do a comparison if it's not to much please!!!!!
Get the helios 300!
Matthew Moniz ok i kinda figured that
Matthew Moniz my main concerns are screen quality and having a relatively quiet machine while gaming. Still recommend the Helios over this?
So I just bought this exact laptop you've reviewed: Dell Inspiron 15 7567 8GB Ram 256GB SSD No HDD, Intel Core i5 7300HQ, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050TI, and etc.

What are you trying to record with?
Did you ever get this figured out?
very nice review Matthew!!!may I suggest if you can , from the next review could you test cad programs like autocad or revit on these kind of laptops too? I think it will be very usefull for some professionals how want to see the performance in these laptops. cheers
for using CAD you'd probably want to look into thinkpad P or T series laptops, not gaming laptops
Yes!!! I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS LAPTOP REVIEW SINCE YOU DID THAT $1000 BUDGET GAMING LAPTOP VIDEO
Awesome glad i could help! You buying it?
Matthew Moniz I am haha
I'm definitely buying this!
Nathan Bullock how did you get the student discount. I'm going to a community college this year can I get the discount???
Hey man how did you get the discount? I'm really interested please respond if you can, thank you very much.
W S A D are the only arrow keys you will ever need ;)
for the most part yes = ) Yes most don't use the arrow keys but some noobs do = )
Depend on the game ,on racing games I prefer arrow keys
Arrow Keys are for lefties imo
It's W A S D noob
interms of gaming its W S A D. Front, back, left, right. That's how we gamers read it xD. Going back to Dark souls remastered bye. Praise the Sun
I picked this over the Helios because of it's build quality. I have toddlers, and they are good are breaking things. This laptop with its build quality and bland color scheme keeps them from messing with it too much. lol.
So what's your review?I'm looking to buy it now..How's the battery life?
I got the
-15.6” FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Anti-Glare LED-Backlit Display
-Intel Core™ i5-7300HQ Quad Core (6MB Cache, up to 3.5 GHz)
-8 GB 2400MHz DDR4
-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB GDDR5
-256 GB M.2
and added a 1TB GB 5400 rpm hard drive / another 8 GB of memory
very happy with my purchase
I snagged the exact same model as was reviewed for $700 on Best Buy yesterday. Can't wait for it to come in

Go check out Hardware Unboxed Reviews.
He usually shows many benchmarks results including Gaming and rendering.
have mine for a week now. I like the material but the surface coating gonna get scratch or get rubbed off like other accessories I have the same coating on.
Now I'm waiting for a sticker to wrap this baby.
Feastalisk What kind of sticker? Where from?
Blenchmark does have users render times on different hardware components specifically for blender.
Better than tn panel, though. Nice review matthew :)
Thanks Rishabh!! What laptop are you rocking?
Matthew Moniz a 2015 hp envy x360. That was when I was a noob. Now I play overwatch using iGPU 😭
I too play overwatch on the IGP. Kabylake i5-7200U ;) Doing around 80-90FPS for minimum FPS on LOW settings with renderscaling on automatic at 1080p.
I personally got this about a month ago, and I'm in love with it.
Only just replacing mine after so many years. Great laptop for casual gaming and multitasking!
I have recently bought this laptop.works perfectly
It cost 1000$ where I live
I actually bought this laptop with the i7-7700hq and 1050 ti for about 1200 US dollars in Asia with the TN Panel. The TN panel was awful when watching movies at night with low brightness and the viewing angles were just as bad. wow the best reviewer M.M very clear and nice visual examples of the product you show on the video
Finally, they sent you one.Was waiting for this video for a long time.If you remember me .Mathew.
YEs! Took forever = ) I had so many angry comments because it was taking so long to review
just what i needed! thank you matt! you are the only one who review the IPS version deeply. thank you thank you, cheers!
You're veryyyy welcome Alvin!!
thank you so much for this video, i was looking into this laptop earlier but I turned it down as you are aware the display was not up to the mark at all so i started looking somewhere else, but now things are looking a lot better with an IPS display on this beautiful machine. Thank you!
+Sandeep Roy you're very welcome !
Good valuable comparisons and advice! It is rare to hear that nowadays in these youtube reviews. This is helpful!
Glad I could help!! thanks for watching Peter!
Quite possibly the best review of this notebook I've seen. Love that you added the connectivity B-roll - very useful to see how deep that SD card slot is and how much space is between ports. Also really loving the high-quality 24 FPS cinematic shots. Keep up the good work!
Thanks man! = ) That port shot was Ash tailors idea
Matthew Moniz very slick. As a guy who uses an SD card a LOT (smartphone storage, photography, video), I appreciate it. Haven't seen a lot of other reviewers show this.

thanks Zubin! I appreciate the honesty! Sometimes it just takes time to get better = ) Still not their yet and a long way to go!
I have this exact laptop and haven't run into any issue. Really worth every penny 😁
I just came back from bestbuy and the sound in this system is awesome! The only concern is that it is heavy. I can see myself with back pain buy carrying this thing. But it is a really good and decent computer.
Now that's what I call a great review, simple, straightfoward, covers all the important points and has a nice editing :)
Thanks Icaro! Glad you enjoyed it : )
Loved the PC setup in the background.
I have this laptop and it's AMAZING for the price. I highly recommend it. The only problem I have is that the tail cover (on the rear covering the fans) breaks VERY easily. Finaly! I've been waiting on this review for months.
let the whole ad play for you, dope video as always!
Thanks Eduardo, I appreciate it!
Another great video from Matthew!! Love it! Love the 2017 dell model too
still rocking mine. Solid build. The spec is okey at that time. I bump the internal ram to 32gb and nvme ssd. Changing the screen(mine tn) to ips.

where the heck did you get it for 400 bucks in new condition? Everywhere it's like $700+ and I'm waiting for price drop sigh...
Good work. Looking forward to the review of the 7577 version.
Good review. The top shot plugging everything in is very smart. Great visual aid, especially on the depth of the SD card slot. Keep up the great work.
Thanks man! That was Ashs idea = ) He's full of good ones!
If you don't care about is being thicc it really is the best gaming laptop on a budget
Ahh just in time as im looking for one in September! Cool as always😃
Might get the red one
Thanks for great review dude. Finally a review for dell inspiron 15 with ips display. Keep up the good work. love ur vids
Thanks Steven!
Nice timing. I actually just ordered the 4k IPS version with 512GB SSD version. Its original price is 1500 Euro but I got it with 10% discount so its 1350 Euro. Cant wait for it ! :)
Nice!! Let me know how you like it when you get it = )
I will :)
I got mine a few days ago. The red version looks so much better than I thought it would. I got the white keyboard too, much better than the tacky red one.
spartanB0292 how do you get the white keyboard version. I've only seen the red one.
If you're a student you can get $100 dollars of this laptop at Best Buy right now. Highly recommend it yo!
David Finni Does that apply to Canada too or just America?
David Finni bestbuy doesn't have the IPS screen
Miikeo 0403 Mine definitely has the ips display and I bought it from Best Buy in store.
I dont see how laptops will get better than this in the next 3 years so go for it.
Marcus Lewis any idea when this is happening?
wait until 'black friday'
Bought it couple months ago with the ips screen, still watching reviews just to boost my ego knowing I made the right buying choice :)
Seriously, I don't see a reason buying a better laptop than this; if you want better performance, please just make it a desktop instead. Maybe it's also worth getting a thin & light mac if you want to be more professional for school and work though...
been waiting for the new display review!!!
Nice! Glad I could bring it to you
Matthew Moniz I have ordered the same laptop as yours with the IPS display! :)
Awsome vidoe Mathew! Some times I Wonder why you don't have more subs
Cheers
The thing about the Tn panel is that for most people it'll be more than enough for what they need.
1:22 What is that plant? I want that plant!
it's called "the bush"
Chia Pet

the cpu reaches around 83°C in HWmonitor and aida64 stress test results in thermal throttling about 16%

Which laptop is best for design work ? Using autoCAD,3D max, Revit softwares ??

+Jean-Daniel Boudreau you're very welcome ! I'm glad you enjoyed it : )
finally! someone made a review with the ips panel.
Woohoo! Been wanting to do this for quite some time
Please do Dell Inspiron 15 7000 (with new ips panel) Vs.
What laptop would you recommend for designers? It's better if the laptop have longer battery life..
Just for confirmation, is the keyboard AT ALL customizable? Can you change the color and pattern?
Dipolar Abyss no I have it and you can't but backlight it very good has 3 levels and one is off
Great video Matt!
Thanks man!!
