Rather you than me Richard, being a Queenslander I would have died in that snowstorm, I missed Cradle Mt when we were there so it was nice you showing us around. Looking forward to your next videos.

Rule number on of Tasmania travel.... be prepared for weather changes all the time! haha. Great episode mate and just such a shame on the cloud cover. Would have been great to see what you're able to do in ideal conditions. Despite that, that was beautiful light placement on the boat shed!

Thanks Andrew, very true indeed regarding the weather. The first 3 nights weren't great but the other 2 nights were awesome. It's always hard when trying to shoot nightscapes because there's not many options when the clouds are thick.

Ah what a place! Great to see it again... and some awesome images despite the conditions!! I’m honestly surprised there’s be snow like that at that tome of year! Looked like more (certainly around the lake) than when we were there in July!! Thanks so much for the shoutout!! 😀 Looking forward to more from Tassie :)

Thanks my friend. The morning I was there was the first snow fall for 2019 and it was a big one ...!! Even the locals were getting excited. I don't think you can ever get too much Cradle action.

Got to say thanks - I've found this channel very inspiring. In the UK I have similar issues with cloud (and light pollution) but I've now tried light painting, need a bit more practice but I think it can make some of our old stone churches and ruins and more really come alive. Little creepy in the graveyards in the middle of the night though disturbing birds that fly out of the trees, owls twitahooing nearby, and probably rabbits running around in the under growth, but I guess it beats worrying about spiders and snakes! Stars in Australia were amazing, especially in the out back around Port Augusta when I was once there.

Thanks for watching Fly Hi, I'd imagine you'd have lots of lovely old stone building in your parts .... yes stars here are amazing.

Looks a beautiful place......with British style weather....(welcome to my world, lol)
I have heard Tasmania is much greener than Australia. I had a book when I was young, grandfathers tiger, fictional, but describing the difference between Tasmania and Sydney quite vividly. I loved that story, but it accidentally got chucked out when we moved house in 2014. Some amazing images there Richard, your usual mastery. Oh those days pre covid

Thanks a lot for looking at this video Suzanne. I'm actually booked to go back to Tasmania in May this year. Hopefully all will still be good by then here. I'm spending 3 weeks there so lots of adventures I'm sure. It is much cooler than the mainland.

    Hello Richard,
To start with I respect your dedication of being there out in the cold scouting and back in the night to take brilliant photos. I enjoyed the way you have setup your commentary during your scout and quite the pictures you have taken. You are one of those who inspire me. I was there in December 2018 with me family there and aim to plan a trip just myself 😊. Keep inspiring !

    Hey Richard,
I had the pleasure of doing a motorbike ride with 18 others quite a few years back from Brissie over the ferry and a lap around the isle. It was superb. Sadly my camera died just before the crossing and my shitty phone was just that ! Anyway I am glad I went to Tassie before the South Is of NZ otherwise I would have been disappointed, not taking anything away from Tassie.
As you say you can't do much about the weather but some good shots none the less. Looking forward to more :)

Thanks so much for the great images and inspiration. Couple of points. The first image shown, the building appears to be lit with a light from a high vantage point, with the roof shadow on the front of the building. How did you accomplish that?
Also, clouds admittedly ruin a star trail. Why not just turn it into a timelapse?
    Thanks for your efforts.

    • @nightscapeimages.richard
      @nightscapeimages.richard  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks Mike, all good points. I was actually above the level of the roof when shooting. I didn't want to leave the camera set up for too long out in the rain so a timelapse was out of the question ... although the idea is good .. the weather didn't behave itself. I did produce a few other timelapses later in the trip which I'll show in the next videos.
