The medal of honor was the last thing on those recipients minds as they were earning them.

I met some famous musicians in my lifetime. Big thrill every time for me. In 2019 I met a Congressional Medal of Honor award recipient at Danny Trejo's Taco restaurant. He was in there in full military attire wearing the award. He had his military trained dog as well. He told me how he received it from his service. He & his dog were severely wounded. Both of their injuries were apparent. The soldier had a robotic arm. His story brought tears in my eyes. My friend took a picture of me with him & his dog. I cherish that picture. My old boss saw the picture & he told me he was envious because he served 22 years in the US Navy and never met anyone who was awarded the medal. I am forever grateful for meeting that incredible soldier & his dog. I hope he is living a great life these 5 years later. Thanks to him & ALL the US military veterans who have sacraficed so much to keep America free. 👍✌️🙂🇺🇲

Actually the first black recipient of the Medal of Honor was for actions in the civil war during an attack on a fort In Charleston, South Carolina. He was part of the 54th Massachusetts colored regiment. He did not actually receive the medal until sometime in the 1910s. Last name was Carey or Carney. My middle school is named after the soldier you mention Milton L Olive III.

We don’t really talk about politics at work as it should be as the military is and should always remain apolitical. However we all talk to each other, nobody with integrity supports this clown. Keep in mind most of the military members despise politicians regardless of party, because they are mostly all talk. Trump is different, his incompetence is dangerous. I had a stunning & sobering view of the National Cemetery across Wilshire Blvd every day from the window of my 5th floor office. Actually met my husband, a Vietnam vet, there. He was drafted at 18 & subsequently went to college on the GI Bill. Trump dodged the draft - okay many did.

Trump's "military school" was more of a reform school for problematic rich kids. Poor students who were like Trump went to jail.
This is only partially true, and those students tended to get themselves drummed out fairly early. There were also plenty of attendees who were there to take in the education and structure they offered, more so for those on track to a formal military career at one of the military colleges. I attended NYMA myself, just don't ask which kind of kid I was starting out...
