The moment Bojack handed Kelsey the letter before she handed it back really stuck with me. To me, it was symbolic that no matter how much you regret your past wrongdoings, if you wait too long, your words come out muddied and meaningless. You can apologize with the utmost sincerity, but it doesn't matter if the person you're apologizing to has given up on you.

A Classy Splatter it certainly was an interesting episode. A whole story could be told with no words spoken.
I also liked one of the episodes from the newest season that takes a sort of reverse approach to that - the one where he’s giving a eulogy for his mother - and he’s able to tell an entire story and set a mood with his words alone. Just him. No wacky hijinks from todd or a Diane to complain to - just his words coming from his mouth all in one sitting and in one location. These episodes were certainly the most interesting approaches to a storyline to me.

@Evan Weaver I just finished watching the Eulogy Episode. I think I can say it was one of my favorite episodes. This entire show is amazing, it makes you think - sometimes more than you want to, and hits home harder than you'd expect.

And BoJack's right...I think of the fourth episode of season 1...BoJack was a struggling actor and terrible stand up comedian until someone like Herb came up to him at the bar to introduce himself. It was connection with Herb who pitched that show to execs which got BoJack fame and fortune in the first place.

    LYRICS:
    I'll take your word
    Like a good friend should
    If the earth should dry
    May your dreams never die
    Clouds are sacred, nothing!
The skies and all man, waiting!
    You'll find me
    In a sea of dreams
Where no one cares about my words
    I hear her voice
    She laughs now
She loves me now and always did
    I'll take your word
    Like a bestfriend should
    If your heart should dry
    May your eyes still cry
    You'll find me
    In a sea of dreams
Where no one cares about my words
    I hear her voice
    She laughs now
She loves me now and always did

Thank you Bojack Horseman for proving that an adult comedy series doesn't need toilet humor, crude jokes and controversial themes. All it needs is well written stories, characters we can relate to and heart.

Agreed, I mean come on the Fetus-Aquafina episode? Thing is that it does these themes so well, that it feels like it's not crude in its refined crudeness. Does this make any sense? :D

    • @StealthDoctor
      @StealthDoctor 8 ปีที่แล้ว +101

OK, Just saw the Aquafina episode and yes Bojack is know for controversial themes etc. What I meant to say was that the writers don't force those themes in almost every episode and know when the right times to use those subject and write them so well into the episodes. Unlike shows such as Family Guy which should just get cancelled again.

      @alvin_row 8 ปีที่แล้ว +26

+bjhale yea, but it doesn't need those. What I love of the show is how it leaves you feeling that everything could've gone better (sorry for my bad english and blah), but it's still not the worst that could've happened, kind of how life is.

Bojack: Yes, thank you, exactly. Settle. Because otherwise you’re just gonna get older and harder, and more alone. And you’re gonna do everything you can to fill that hole, with friends, and your career, and meaningless sex, but the hole doesn’t get filled. One day, you’re gonna look around and you’re going to realize that everybody loves you, but nobody likes you. And that is the loneliest feeling in the world

I know no one’s going to see this but I gotta say, if you like this song, I highly recommend listening to the album it’s from: “Chronovision” by Oberhofer. Of course, it’s best known for “Sea of Dreams” but it’s filled with 11 other masterpieces which touch on similar existential themes like legacy, death, love, individuality, loneliness and more. It’s probably one of my all time favourite albums and it’s criminally underrated.

    absolutely beautiful
this sounds ridiculous but I'm crying at the moment. Recently I lost my brother who I was very close to, I'm 16 he was 19, and I remember first showing him Bojack. I never knew if he watched more after that or not at University, but when I looked through his Netflix history after he died, I saw he's seen every episode. I was watching the new season, and watching this episode, I though 'wow this is oddly beautiful, and I'm so happy he would have seen it'. I then realised he hadn't seen the new season, of course not, and I just imagined me asking him, and us watching together, so in the same way I have many songs that make me think of my brother, that we listened to together, this one is the heartbreaking song that we would have enjoyed together.

One of BoJack's biggest flaws is that if he doesn't ask for it, he tends not to listen to what people have to say as he's conceited enough to believe he's the smartest guy in the room. Ana probably told him all about the helmets, but he glazed over it because he found this vital information dull.

What if I told you that a cartoon about animals portraying larger-than-life people is arguably the most profound show right now on the human experience? That a show filled with cheap visual gags, elementary puns, and occasionally the most absurd humor, offers a story so refreshing and insightful on loneliness, depression, and relationships that an alcoholic, mean-spirited, washed up Hollywoo actor who is a horse...man can somehow be a voice of reason and the most relatable, naked character on any medium I and millions of others, affected from mental illness or know someone who is, share kindred spirit with? Would you believe me then?

For non-depressed people it is easier to have confidence in themselves. They love themselves enough to go through life without looking for a “missing piece” to feel good. And whenever they are troubled, they just remember that they are (or were) loved, and just reminding themselves of that fact gives them peace and happiness. Just like a self love “button”, it is that easy.
Many depressed people are like Bojack, they completely lack self steem and hate themselves (usually because of troubled childhoods). They don’t realize they are complete human beings that don’t need approval to be valid. They don’t realize the button is right at their side. That’s why this episode is so god damn good.

It's all too prevalent in our culture, and has happened before, will happen again. Ayn Rand writes of it in Atlas Shrugged.
It's also expressed in Fahrenheit 451.
People don't want to live or live well, so they don't, and let the world fall to pieces over their apathy.
The most obvious solution is to find a purpose in our lives beyond just supporting our most basic functions and abusing our dopamine receptors.

This show is truly amazing. The stories feel so real. No real resolutions. Just constant fighting onwards. Just like real life. I can't see it ending with Bojack Dying. I can see it ending with him maybe coming to understand himself a little better, and facing life with a newly found vigour. He'll start *really* working on the relationships he has. Working on himself, and not just constantly apologizing for his behaviour. But he won't have resolution.

    [Pre-Chorus]
    Clouds are sacred, nothing!
The skies and all man, waiting!
    [Chorus]
    You'll find me
    In a sea of dreams
Where no one cares about my words
    I hear her voice
    She laughs now
She loves me now and always did
    [Verse 2]
    I'll take your word
    Like a bestfriend should
    If your heart should dry
    May your eyes still cry
    [Chorus]

I'm 14 going on 15 in November. I'm young. I live a good life. I met the show Bojack horseman through the few audios that went viral but I started watching it after seeing a clip of the show were Bojack is talking about how he was involved in a death. Haven't reached that episode yet. I'm not overly empathetic or sympathetic. I try to be understanding but for me feeling things for stuff like this is a come and go. I think the show is completely shit. It's so damn beautiful though. After 3 seasons this episode was the first episode I've genuinely seen that Bojack horseman was good. Where he looked like an honest person. As honest and kind as possible. Maybe it's because he couldn't talk crap through everything. But it felt raw. I couldn't cry. But I fell right in love with this episode. It's chaotic it's peaceful. It's docile. Bojack horseman show's reality. It shows what real life can be. It shows real depressing, masking, how difficult living is how horrible a person can be while still being person enough. He's not killer bad but he's regular fucked up life bad. He's an addiction turner as coping mechanisms bad. He's a I live in the past because I was abused bad. He's the I abuse myself bad. He's so rooted in pain that Bojack, will stay Bojack horseman.

As someone who is autistic and had trouble communicating my love, apologies, and frustration to those around me, this episode broke me into tears. Throughout the entire episode, there is basically no dialogue and neither the city nor Bojack understood each other. Yet this is when you see Bojack at his most human, going out of his way to try and care for a newborn that will probably never remember or understand him. And when he finally had the words to say to his director, it came out as a muddled mess. I always felt like I was trying to choose the right words and actions to fit the world's puzzle but could never get the timing or emotion right and ended up hurting myself, sometimes even others.
However, Bojack's letter still struck a chord with me: those connections are our only tethers to the world, and if any are broken, we have the choice of fixing them or establishing another with the mistakes we learned from.
I'm so fucking glad I picked up this show, I genuinely stand by the fact that this is the most human work of art ever conceived.

"The skies and all man, waiting" this line sounds so fucking good, almost like something divine.

i know right ! I hear it as "and old man waiting" personnally, don't know if it makes any sense though, i'm not a native speaker.
Still this song speaks to me in every line
Don't know about you, but i really like "if your heart should dry, make your heart still cry"
Still though, however you understand it, the memory of that Bojack episode brings a lot of feels

I found this episode very philosophical, and it is by far my favourite.

it's almost a nastalogic depression that I go through every episode. This entire episode, so beautifully crafted with no words until the end. it just makes you feel like you having nothing there but you're gripping for a happiness... that light at the end of the tunnel

Rick and Morty is pretty good
But sometimes the theme and the humour can overcome the messages of the serie
      In Bojack
      The messages are, the humor
Like when Mr.Peanutbutter make his long charade on "never stop going forward, always keep yourself occupied"
The scene made it funny by making him talk very-fast and almost fanatically while he was the usual goofball 2 minutes prior to the scenes
It helps make a really funny and absurde situation, especially since it break both the cheerfull the athmosphere and his character at the same time
But when you take two secondes to think about-it
It's a pretty dark and sad way of thinking, and it also show that he's not as "dumb" as he shows
He dosn't want to think or pay attention because he dosn't want to start asking himself serious questions
Like where is he gonna go, how he will end-up in the future, will he have any regrets
      That's why i agree
Bojack is superior to R&M because of the way it handles it's messages and humour
In R&M, there's the humour, and then serious scenes/talks/messages
In Bojack, the humour can serve as both

There's no comparison. The two shows are completely different, and each one is the best at its thing.
