GOT IT!! Played along with this vid on and off for the past couple days and I can now perform it. Not as well as Brad here, but very passable. Gonna roll it out tonight at a local old time jam I go to. YeeHaaa...
I heard this tune for the first time at an old time fiddler jam last week, and was able to strum along on my banjo, easy chord progression to pick up. But I came home determined to learn this tune, and found this great performance. I've got the basics of it, but the embellishments in this vid are just GREAT. I'm hoping to pick up some of them myself, and I agree with others, it's a shame more people haven't found this. But then, I also know that old time string music has limited appeal in the Wide Wide World of Hip Hop and pop music. Sigh.. thank you, Brad, for an EXCELLENT video.
Fantastic! I see the 6 thumbs down clicks up there, and think..."Who hurt those people?" You are an excellent player!! Love playing this on mando, and don't have half of your clawhammer chops. Gotta get working on it. Thanks for sharing!
Really nice! The bright melody really comes through because of the masterful handling of the background intricacies. And I know it ain't easy keeping a steady rhythm the way you're doing. Just super.
Well-articulated version of Julianne Johnson! I’m learning a simpler version, but am struggling with my drop thumb technique. I haven’t been able yet to make it consistently smooth. How would you suggest I go about perfecting my drop thumb technique?
This is criminally underwatched. You are a superb player! If I can play half as well in my lifetime I'll consider it an accomplishment.
Criminal. Couldn't agree more. I'd play it 1,000 times a week myself if there weren't so many interruptions to tend to.
Haha I wonder how many it had 5 years ago! 50k now!!
@@MrEmperorBlack 60, 659 now (as of 5 Oct. 2022)!
I am always conscious of my tempo. But, speeding up because you find yourself in the tune is not a bad thing. 5 gold stars, friend!
This is amazing. I'm just getting started with clawhammer banjo and this is really inspiring!
Your videos reminds me all of the good days I miss when I'm sad or mad I like to watch your videos love your guys as bemy BFF 😘

Excellent banjo-picking!

🌼
great rendition. what tuning are you using? thanks.
How many banjos do you have?
12 or 11 inch head? I once had a Tradesman 12" & have wondered about getting an 11 inch.
What tuning are You using I have a 4 string fretless banjo I use ,I like that tune there
Gary Cowger If your still interested its a double “C”. At least that’s what I worked out to be.
So...am I the only one who's noticed the glow in the dark spiders hanging behind his head??
Is this the Enoch Dobson with a different head than it used to have? Or a different banjo?
It's a different banjo. I have two Enoch Dobsons - one with a skin head and a maple rim and one with a renaissance head and spun brass rim (this one).
Oh cool! Gotcha! Do you find you prefer one over the other?
Do you give online lessons?
+Payador Perseguido Yes, I do! Send me an email at bradkolodner@gmail.com and we can get something set up!
Brad Kolodner oh man I'd also be interested!
