    There definitely are British houses that look like this, especially with that wrap around layout to get to the kitchen 😅 You're right in that the landing would be smaller but I think you nailed it hon!

      @@fast-toast well being British, having lived in Britain my whole life, having seen houses here like that and having built houses in sims for the best part of 20 years, I can confidently tell you this pretty much as close as you can get to a British house in the sims 4. There's more than one type of architecture and layout common here, maybe you just aren't familiar with this one 🤷🏼‍♀️

    The main way to make this a more traditional British House would be to add carpets, especially in bedrooms. Although, now I'm having flashbacks of my parents' carpeted kitchen... that was coloured to look like it was tiled... *shudders*

    The solution to the attached houses could be done with an "apartment" option in builmode, as we are capable of making a house a rental, we could create apartments, and we could do that type of houses. THINK OF THE POSIBILITIES EA

      I wish Sims 2 wasn't the only game where you could just put in a cheat and bam the lot's now an apartment lot. I grew up on the top floor of a two family house on a block full of two family houses squished right next to each other, so it would just feel right to me.

    you should look up houses in the lake district. Beatrix potter had her farm there and took plenty of inspiration for her books on holiday there. Rolling hills and cute cottages / farm houses, really beautiful area

    The exterior of this house reminds me so much of the houses on the street I grew up in! It’s the brick colour.
    If you really want to make it feel like it was renovated in the mid 90’s there need to be way more carpet upstairs, preferably a weird pale green colour!

      Good idea, the only annoying thing is that it works for some countries like the UK (because a lot of their houses are identical) but not so much for other countries like France (which has different house types depending on the area you live in / many of them are built by architects).

      @@nempne it depends where the house is, for a city home, peaky blinders is a good example, even though it's set after WW1, there are still a lot of houses standing and inhabited from then, the biggest difference is the available land, you could probably build 3 or 4 typical British houses on one average plot of American land, including front and back gardens

      @The Aussie Family that's really cool 🥰 I think the main reason for having our washing in the kitchen is to save space - a lot of older British homes were built for workers and there needed to be a lot of houses in a small area. Our bathrooms are tiny and wouldn't fit a washing machine/dryer - we had to make a custom tub to fit because ours is so small! 😂 I hope you have a lovely day! ❤

    I’m so glad that you brought up the need for townhouses because genuinely at this point I’m convinced the sims team does as you wish. We need lots that are connected like 20x15 or even smaller that are all connected in rows that you can build on all the tiles, including the edges

    I am so excited for the new pack and here’s why: Normally pack releases are kinda sad for me because I have to ask my parents (who don’t play the sims and pick at me for it) and yo girl has too much anxiety for that. But, this time, it’s coming 12 days after my birthday and they are letting me get it for my birthday. I’m so pumped!!

    As a brit I'd say this is pretty decent. I love how the patio table has an umbrella. For the amount of rain we get. But still have a Bbq coz we Bbq in the rain. We have little Diddy rooms too. Definitely a good replica

    This looks kinda like my sisters new house except hers is a lot more beige on the exterior and the backyard is wayyyy smaller. Also. This house is significantly bigger. You did a really good job. Building British houses in the Sims is so hard, even for us English folk 🙈

    Small red brick box built on an old quarry with substantial subsidence.
    Large Tory house with bannisters crafted from the bones of malnourished Victorian children.

    just a little note on that wall mailbox: a lot of british houses actually do have mailboxes like that, particularly in lower middle class areas, I believe! I very much remember my grandparents having a mailbox exactly like that on the house that they lived in when I was younger and this house that you built reminds me a lot of it! for some reason I remember being rather fond of it, so including it in your build gave me a huge rush of nostalgia.
    I know its such a small detail and I doubt anyone is gonna comment on it, but it was actually my favourite part of the house so I just wanted to say something about it :)

    I live in England and I love the houses here! I've got a rose plant growing up the side of my house that I prune a lot because I really enjoy gardening and my mum and I have planted vegetables in the garden which we eat. Very cottagecore and I love it ^^ 🌻🌱

    •The garage barely ever being used as a garage and instead for storage
    •Annoying skirtingboard
    •you usually have 2 bathrooms one downstairs one upstairs
    •a fridge in your garage

    *Tip* : If you want a TV remote to use as decoration, enter the cheats ‘testing cheats true’ then ‘bb.showhiddenobjects’ then search ‘remote’ and click on the one that says something like TV.gen... remote. Idk just look through it and you’ll find a TV remote to use for décor! Hope this helps somebody!

      @@supertrinigamer It's typical in Britain to extend your house as your needs go up. We do it here in the US as well but for the most part I think most people are more apt to just move when they need more space. Mostly depends on which is more cost-effective.. Also in Britain you don't get nearly as many bad neighborhoods as we have in the US.. which is usually a big reason to move here.

      Mine is in a separate room but I think is because lots of houses in the UK are small and right next to each other so it's more important to have it in the kitchen than using space to put it somewhere else

    Lots attached to each other is my biggest dream for sims! So glad someone else has said it, you just can't replicate the terraced house vibe... without being able to properly make them 😭

    I love building English homes in the sims! I always try to recreate the ones I've lived in growing up. This is very similar to my family and friends home, but I think that a formal dining room would be more realistic than a formal sitting room.

    They need to make a German or Netherlands inspires pack with row houses connected by lots. It'd be like apartments where you can change some walls, but, it'd totally be doable. The Netherlands one could be off the Amstel river canal for ultimate realism. Tiny living type objects, less modern style. TINY staircases are my biggest memory from my visit lol.

    From my experience of living in a house in Britain, Simsie's house has too many windows and the rooms are too big 😂 I literally have 3 windows upstairs in my house and 5 downstairs with none on the side at all 😑😂

    For a typical English house : put carpet floors everywhere !!! XD Loved the beginning of the video about which type of house to build. I am French, moved to the UK a few months ago, and when I walk in the streets, I can't help thinking how great the British houses would look in the Sims ! I mean : a lot of windows/doors/roof features available in the Sims are exactly what they look like in the UK (not the case for French houses, it is a bit more difficult to build something that looks just like it).     There is a remote in debug you can use :) I use it all the time. Simlicy has it saved in a room on her gallery along with a bunch of other debug clutter items!

    Oh, if you want to change the gallery images (like positioning), use the sims 4 tray importer! You can change your library listing there and then upload the listing to the gallery

    It’s actually pretty hard to build a british house in the sims4. All the good swatches are on siding which just isn’t really a thing here.
    Pretty much all houses are brick (or cinderblock) cause it’s too damp for wood and there’s a fire risk. It’s probably originally from the great fire of London, but now it’s more an insurance thing.

    I’d say that downstairs is a pretty accurate floor plan for that type of Hosie in the UK, if you think of the garage conversion and bathroom being things that woulda been added later
    The upstairs would have had a bathroom squeezed in because most master bedrooms here are about half the size of that 😂

    Kayla I’m born and bred English and this house is nicer than every house in every neighbourhood I’ve ever lived in…. I’ve only ever been in like 2 house in my entire life that have a dining room and TWO living rooms?? That’s swanky… most houses don’t even have a dining room, just kitchen and living rooms…

    From England here, for a fair few years we had an outside attached to the wall mail box, and the slot through the door, and I find its typically either that fit into English houses

    in terms of semi detached houses, they basically have the exact same layout, there's different types which from what i know do not have names, for example the ones with the square extensions on the front of the master bedrooms and living room for each side, the ones with the weird 3 window style too.

    I think you did a good job with the layout. Usually the kitchen sink would be facing a window that looks out onto the garden so you have a nice view while washing the dishes.

    As a British simmer I cannot tell you how much I NEED townhouses. And also really hope that the new pack isn't just full of giant lots because real classic 'British' towns & villages are just higgledy-piggledy tiny lots stacked on top of one another.

    In relation to the town house wants, in Sims 2 you could move your lots and pick their size so I'd put a load beside each other in a row and make actual town houses, it was so good... Sims 2 was amazing, I wish they'd incorporate more from it into sims 4 😭
