Solid video, i have sports card OCD myself... presentation and packaging are just as important as the sale itself, if the seller wants return customers 🤷...i couldnt agree with you more, i treat every sale the same way I would want to be treated..liked and subbed❤
I think this is an awesome video for sellers!!! A little extra care brings customers back and keeps people happy. Respect their money they just gave you! I ship every card in a top loader! If I don't have any, I wait till I can get some.
I sell raw cards on ebay. Under $5 or so, cards are in a penny sleeve and cardsaver, sealed in a one touch bag. Over $5, same thing but a toploader instead of cardsaver. Then they're taped into a sheet of folded 120 pt cardstock and put in a #10 envelope. If selling a lot, every card is in a penny sleeve and then put in a team bag, I cut out 2 pieces of foamcore board to sandwich them in, and wrap that in cardboard and put it in a bubble mailer. Have had tons of compliments on my shipping. But like you said, it's just how I would want to receive them if I bought them.
Love the hat. And totally agree. Every card I ship out are in penny sleeve and top loader. In a team bag. Cardboard on each side with painters tape. And put in bubble mailer.
Absolutely agree with everything you said and I get the same shit packaging from these sellers constantly. Also a good idea I started doing myself is putting the whole thing into a team bag after its all taped up exactly like you do and team bags are not expensive, like 3 cents a bag so not that expensive and it looks professional when its all nicely packed into a card saver, taped, then sealed nicely in a team bag. Just a little advice since you are a seller as well and I can tell you really take pride in your shipping too.
After my first couple orders online, I started asking them if it was going to be in a penny sleeve and a Toploader. I won't buy anything that's not shipped in a top loader. If I bought those cards, I would want all of them in a Toploader with a penny sleeve.
If they use free shipping, you never know how you are going to receive the package. If they charge the going rate or higher, you should expect a well packed order. I usually use a 6x9" size with 3 pieces of thick cardboard, 2 if graded for cards.
Sellers not making alot of money are not respecting anything or anybody. There are very few of you guys out there. I had to educate my girlfriend in the painters tape lol
I sell on ebay & seen your title so decided to give a watch to see if its something I would do... NO WAY IN HELL! I completely agree with you, happy to take your money but not do right business wise. This type of stuff is exactly why I use my real name & same name across all platforms so I can Stand Behind It or Be Held Accountable if need be. But yeah if they are lined up & centered then not as much an issue but all wonky w/packaging tape around whole outside making double the chance of damaging a card when opening it. People aren't being taught the right way of business anymore, its now make your profit & buck at others expenses when it should be about serving others how you want to be served.... with morals & ethics. Keep spreading the right way! Got yourself a new sub.
Your right brother. I bought cards where I was charged 4.95. I look at the postage on the envelope and it's 93 cents. And to make matters worse they take no care in securing the cards when placed in the envelopes.
I stopped selling cause shipping costs going cross border was definitely not worth it. Every card has to be charged at least $12 for shipping which is stupid if the card your buying is worth a few bucks no one will pay those shipping prices. So im out of this business due to greedy postal services wanting their cut
i had a Corbin Carroll tribute auto (thick card) /99 damaged because they used too big of a top loader with packing tape, when i received it, half the card was outside the top loader, with packing tape stuck to the card. Honestly pathetic how some ship our cards.
I had a card come sandwiched with no sleeve in between some random cards with tape stuck on them. Some of the cards I pc. I specifically ask for painters tape or in a team bag. You got it right, my man. Thank you!!!
When I buy card’s I put them in new top loaders. I keep the old top loaders to use for shipping cards I sell. I always want buyers to receive their cards the way that I would want to receive mine
Yeah no good bro. They all should be in penny sleeves and top loaders, plus should have been put in team bag and have some kind of extra protection like cardboard or something and then put into bubble mailer
I sold my entire card collection. Every sale the cards were put in a team bag then taped with thin painters tape to keep them from shifting. That way the buyer can just toss the team bag and not have to deal with tape glue on the top loaders. All the expensive cards got cardboard on each side then placed in a bubble envelope.
I agree with you, if your going to pack that way do it right. I ship all of my 100+ card lots in team bags with top loaders on both ends and penny sleeved cards in the middle. You can pack it 100% safely that way and its not that difficult. I've never had a packaging complaint. What you got was wrong for sure. And your middle cards were from the 80's/90's and the quality was softer back then. I never use envelopes neither, 5x7 bubble is best, $5 anywhere in the country
I ship all cards in top loaders, painters tape, then sandwiched between plastic or cardboard protectors and then in a padded envelope or box depending on the amount of cards. Rule of thumb, I ship how I would want to receive the cards I buy. I've had cards show up in CEREAL BOXES...
Have you ever heard of non-machineable envelopes. Costs too much for free shipping sellers. Their cards that need extra care because the envelopes are too thick. Then if you put them in bubble mailers the shipping costs $4.25 + . I agree. I'm a collector first and seller secondly. Be careful and cautious. Respect others property.
No one wants to pay for shipping. It costs around 4.50-5.00 to ship one card 1st class. Can't expect sellers to eat that cost plus costs of shipping products. That being said would never ship cards like that, either use top loaders on each card or 15-25 count hard plastic lot boxes.
packing tape over toploaders is so annoying. painters tape costs the same. Does Whatnot offer seller feedback? I've never used it, but it's always beneficial to reach out to people. Sometimes they just don't know better.
Painters tape only. You have to use Team Bags for bulk lots. Top Loaders in bags for high price and for low end - put a piece of paper over the loader and Painter's Tape that closed with a small, thin piece. The buyer can just rip the paper off and the Painter's Tape comes right off. PWE can be done right and affordably with just a tiny bit of care putting together your shipment.
I had a guy not put painters tape over the top of the top holder holding a 1989 Jordan. The envelope it was I was taped up like a crazy man did it. I had to take a scissor and cut the end of the envelope and…you guessed it, the card came out of the top loader and was at the end of the envelope where I cut and I cut right through the Jordan. Not happy.
Bro I topload and team bag every card I ship! Never had one complaint and get tons of return customers on eBay, Whatnot, and Facebook groups I sell in.
Back in 2017 I bought 2 kobe topps rookies on the cheap, under $20, and the seller sent them in top loaders with no bag or tape. They both came out the top of the loader and dinged the corners. I complained they got damaged and the seller simply refunded the entire purchase. It's on the seller to package the cards well enough, and the buyer should hold them to accountability. I use team bags myself
@Godlikecollectibles the last time I received a card in a soft sleeve alone was a Rickey Henderson rookie that pulled a psa 9. I can't complain a whole lot lol
I receive cards in the mail almost every day and I feel your pain. Packing tape should never be used anywhere inside or outside the envelope. When I have to get out a razor blade knife to get to a card then I risk damaging the card to get it out. Lately I have had a rash of relic cards not properly protected and when the PO bends the envelope we get a crease and a ruined card. I have bought 1 card 3 times from 3 different sellers all creased and thrown into the junk drawer. Another sin to me is taping the card inside the envelope, USE THE RIGHT SIZE ENVELOPE! As Walter says it just pisses me off.
Pay for 1st class shipping and you won't have that issue. Just a tip I was running into the same issues. I just stopped buying cards from sellers that offer free shipping or eBay standard envelope for trading cards.
The problem with your suggestion is that when you add the value of the card to the price of the shipping you are at times paying double what the card is worth. I get cards properly protected and shipped for less than a dollar all the time. @@joepeters3128
I go with a guy for breaks. Him or his wife never put protection on the outside of cards.. so a single or stack comes with no cardboard or top loaders on the outside and the cards in the middle. I’ve told him about this before and suggested he fixes it. He hasn’t. Not gonna break with him anymore. At anytime my cards can come in a bubble mailer, no cardboard or anything surrounding them, and can be ruined. Like this guy saying, that’s just lazy and I don’t understand why. 🤷🏻♂️
Sadly sound like they just see everyone as $$ and don't care about the customers or the cards. There are plenty of breakers who will go above & beyond to protect so don't settle for less. Your enforcing your boundaries, morals, & ethics by moving on from them & making them suffer a lost customer. They might not immediately feel it but if we get the hobby to enforce morals & ethics by treating others how we want to be treated we will all be the better for it. Good on you & their loss! Goodluck on the breaks!
Thats a bad packaging job. Its over the 1/4” limit for the $1.38 shipping or whatever it costs, so there is no need to do that. Ive found that I can ship up to 8 singles in an envelope by using the semi ridged top loaders and carefully taping and arranging them so they dont shift during shipping.
Glad to see some love for Alomar. As a lifelong Jays fan it hurts to not see his name on the "level of excellence" at the Rogers Centre any more. Best second baseman I ever saw play.
Yeah, that's shady man. I once had 2 Barry Larkin rookie cards destroyed with the same kind of junk. I would talk to the seller. He may cut you a discount if there's any damage.
either painters tape or no tape at all... you are not being crazy. This is as bad as putting a card into a toploader without a penny sleeve... shit IRKS me bro
I don’t know if sellers are that dumb or that lazy, it’s one of the two in scenarios like this. It takes the same amount of time or maybe two seconds more to ship it properly. It drives me insane as well and I don’t get it. I treat cards that I sell better than mine because they aren’t mine anymore once they are paid for.
You ain't anal, you just like me, I just want my cards packed right. Personally I sleeve every card and then insert them into a bigger sleeve, 3 to 4 per bigger sleeve depending on the cards. Then I put them in a semi rigid and sandwich them between cardboard.
I wasn't going to comment but you just spent 16 1/2 minutes complaining about cards you recieved that were UNDAMAGED! The seller may not have done a perfect job. Sellers of low value cards like these .50 to $1 cards try to save buyers money by charging around $1 instead of $5 or $6 to ship. Everyone these days are so quick to find the slightest reason to gripe and complain about everything. I would have thought you might be more forgiving with a name like Godlike. I'm 58 and collected about 40 years so far. I'm in no way trying to seem righteous but I do wish more people were thankful as opposed to angry. Maybe send the seller a nice (not rude) note to help them. They may not know the best shipping practices.
I dunno when I ship items they are protected & because of that I get recurring business with customers. If your ok with sending low quality shipping then that’s your own fault because a responsible buyer would ad you to their ban list & give you a bad review.

It costs .63 cents to ship one card securely. The way he packaged them you would be able to ship this for 1.11 in a long white envelope.
