Narangala is also popularly known as Thanga-malai, which means ‘Golden Mountain’ in Tamil. This mountain has received this name due to the golden grasses that blanket its slopes. Narangala is situated in the Badulla district, Uva Province of Sri Lanka. Rising up to approx. 1,500 meters, this is the eighth highest peak in the Uva Province. Narangala has a rectangular shaped plateau and triangular shaped peak.
Hiking to Narangala is a good challenge and worth the attempt. It is better to wear warm clothing and hiking boots and make sure to carry some water bottles, some energy drinks if you like, and if necessary, have some bug repellant just in case you come across any unavoidable circumstances. You could take your vehicle up to the Hindu temple in the estate. You need to pass through several clear landmarks such as a large pipeline, a wide road leading to the estate, and from here, you start to climb the mountain. There are large numbers of turpentine trees you will be walking through, and the path is slippery due to the fallen leaves of these trees. This mountain has a flat summit and the best space for camping. Few wild animals are living behind the thick trees that you need to be alert. The Narangala mountain is located at the edge of Uva Province, while the peak is pointing out towards the gap formed between the valleys of Loggal Oya, Uma Oya & Badulu Oya and. This gap offers a wide view towards the Mahaweli flood plains, which extends up to Trincomalee.
This mountain used to hiking and camping. This is situated around bandarawela area. There is good views all around. But if you hiking you have to bring up water and other needs.

නාරංගල යනවනම් අනිවාරෙන් වැස්ස බලලා යන්න.වැස්සෙනම් යන්න බැහැ කොහොමත්.අපි ගියාමත් වැස්ස හින්දා සිතල වැඩි වෙලා කොල්ලො දෙන්නෙක්ට අමාරු වෙලා පාන්දර 12.30 යි පල්ලෙහාට එද්දින්.යන්න ඕන සුපිරිම place එකක් නාරංගල කියන්නේ.කීණකැලේ බස් එකෙන් ගිහින් බැහැල නාරංගල කන්දට නගින්න පටන් ගද්දිම වගේ ගෙදරක් තියෙනවා.පද්මසිරි ඒ මාමගේ නම.අපි tent එහම අරන් ගියා රත්නායක කියල අයිය කෙනෙක්ගෙන්.දවල් කෑම ටික කන්න තමයි පද්මසිරි මාමලගෙ ගෙදර set වුණේ.කෑම ටිකත් අඩුවක් කියන්න නැහැ හොදට රසට තිබුණා.ඕනෙ තරම් කන්න වුණත් දෙනවා.රු.300 යි කෑම එකට.කෝකටත් උඩට යද්දින් ඒ මාමගෙ number එක අරන් ගියේ.උඩට ගිහින් සීතල වැඩි හින්දා පල්ලෙහාට එන්න අපි tent ගත්ත රත්නායක කියන කෙනාට call එක්ක් දුන්නම මුලින්ම සල්ලි ඉල්ලුව එක කළේ.එක්කෙනෙක් එනවනම් 1500 ක් ඉල්ලුවා.එහෙන් ගත්ත tent එහම වැඩක් නැහැ.ඔක්කොම තෙමෙනවා.පද්මසිරි මාමට call එක ගත්ත ගමන්ම මොකුත් කීවේ නෑ පැය භාගයක් යද්දින් උඩට ආවා.වෙලාව 11.30 ට විතර ඇති.අපේ tent එහම ඔක්කොම bag වලට දාල.ලාම්පු තෙල් ගෙනත් සීතල නැති වෙන්න ගිණි මැලයක් පත්තු කරල දීලා.අපිට jacket,jersy එහමත් දීලා අපිව පල්ලෙහාට එක්කගෙන ඇවිත් බොන්න කෝපි හදලා දීලා ඒ ගෙදර කොල්ලො 12 දෙනාටම නිදාගන්න දීල අපිව පහුවදා උදේ එව්වා.අපි එන්න ලෑස්ති වෙනකනුත් අපෙන් රුපියලක් ඉල්ලුවෙ නැහැ.එහම මනුස්සකම් තියෙන මිනිස්සුත් තවම ඉන්නවා.ඒ මාම නැති වෙන්න අපේ කොල්ලොන්ගෙන් අඩුම දෙන්නෙක්ට හරු මොනවහරි වෙන්න තිබුණා.අනිවාරෙන් යන්න කලින් ඒ මාමට කෝල් එකක් දීල යන්න.රත්තරං මනුස්සයෙක්.078 181 6766 👈 මෙන්න number එක.මෙයාගෙන් ඕන වෙන කෑම , tent ,gas ලිපවල්,ගෑස් සිලින්ඩර් ඔක්කොම අඩුවට ගන්න පුළුවන්.අනිවාරෙන් යන්න කලින් කෝල් එකක් දීල යන්න.නාරංගල කියන්නේ අනිවාරෙන්ම ඔක්කොම යන්න ඕන තැනැක්.
