Mario 3 was my first impactful Mario experience but this game was by far the most influential. The amount of secret stuff was mind blowing. It was like an endless treasure hunt.
From Mario 3 on NES to Super Mario World on SNES and then Mario 64, Nintendo out did themselves with those three games on those consoles. The Leaps and Bounds each game took on those respective systems were incredible.
Not only that the original Mario World is good, those ROM hacks of the game are very creative. I've been collecting Super Mario World hacks since high school and they're still fun to play to this day.
Then your friend discovers that if you sit on the Special World map screen for a bit, the theme to the original SMB plays, with steel drums. Then he shows it off to you, and you go "Woooow, that's cool". Mind you, I was in high school when both the Genesis and SNES came out, the Genesis wowed me, but the SNES blew my mind.
Man you're busting secrets that I didnt even know about and I've played this game many times since it came out when i was old enough to try to play video games. And you're clearing them faster than I am. I knew a number of secrets but man...nicely done! By the way, when you did the 1st Donut Land board...at the end, you COULD have gotten the secret key as it is possible to get that even without the block wall to run up on. Its just harder without the wall. It just requires getting some flight to accomplish it and good timing.
@Kirbylight2 the only mistake is that the Castles of the Koopalings and the Fortresses cannot be replayed during the same game (after you save). And also that Yoshi cannot enter inside the Castles, Ghost Houses and Fortresses. Other than that, Super Mario World is superior to Super Mario Bros 3 if only for the fact that there is Yoshi (although there are less power-ups)

God I love that game, actually that's my first Mario game when I was kid. I never have the NES just the SNES then the N64 console and those were the only consoles I played. This game is one of the best Mario games I ever played and has great challenges, awesome boss fights, secret levels, and all other things in this game.
The year is 2020, I have played Super Mario World for the first time I was not ready for how absolutely spectacular this game was, easily one of my all time favorite Mario games, they do so much with the level design, Mario wrecks castles in the most entertaining ways, I found a lot of enjoyment in the setting & above all else, gods did I fall in love with the cap power up & movement as a whole with this game I also learnt I absolutely suck at 2d Mario
That one stage on the cliff overlooking Bowser Castle, that section I couldn't get enough of, calling it the Super Fun Happy Slide. Just saying the name brings back the good times with my brother. He would've been 33 in two month and two days.
Got my Super NES just after launch in August of 91 after my parents said I would have to pay half. I earned more than half and they got me F-Zero and Gradius 3 as well. My friends would come over all the time to play Super Mario World. My all time favorite Mario game! I still have my original Super NES complete with no yellowing whatsoever.

It has the original red on white 1-800 number customer service sticker on the back of the console with the two Mario's running towards each other and not the gray label seen through the rest of the life of the SNES. It's a prized possession in my collection!

I believe they were named differently in the Japanese version; I don't remember their exact names but I think they were named more along the lines of the difficulty level you were playing with. In fact... ~ka-google~ ...oh wow! Okay, I think I can see why they changed it. Weirdly enough, it looks like they took FOUR level names instead of eight, and just used them all twice each - not even a "2" to differentiate 'em. Plus I don't think "Even The Mario Staff Is Shocked Course" would've fit in the text box (and why wouldn't you have that as stages 7 and 8 instead of 3 and 4?!).

Truthfully NC. I was unimpressed on Super Mario World to convinced me to purchase a Super Nintendo. I was (like many) still enjoying many hours of Super Mario Bros 3 for the NES and that game was still hot on the market over a year later here in North America. I recall the uproar that this game cause by irate parents saying that its just an updated version of SMB3, but now you had to spent a few hundred dollars that required you to spend for a new console in order to play SMW. Don't get me wrong, it's an enjoyable game, but wasn't enough for me to buy a whole new unit just to play it. On the other hand, the game that made me so excitingly to do so was F-Zero. Totally stunned me on how the music, the fast pace, and futuristic it was. Everything was so perfect, and the manual just fantastic with the history of F-Zero and a comic it included inside of it as well.
The bonafide classic that came with everyone's SNES at the beginning, felt a little strange the first time I played it as it also felt epic as well The newness novelty has long worn off, and it no longer feels odd, but imagine the first time you are playing the console, and you see the Mode 7, the scaling of the Bowser sprite at the end, and the sprite scaling and rotation in other games. Something you only ever saw at that time in Namco arcades games, and a select few Taito arcade games.

There are “only” 96 exits. I suppose the developers would like to have 100, but they miss four phases for some reason (for example, I think there could be at least two phases else after Soda Lake, one Chocolate Secret phase else and may a Forest of Illusion on the middle of the labirint forest).
Sometimes I use the real controllers with USB adapters, but usually I play with a Hori PS4 gamepad that has no analog sticks on it. Awesome controller. I think it's called Fighting Commander? Not sure atm.
Nintendo should have made more side scrollers even through the N64, gamecube, and Wii eras. The whole industry really invested more into 3d than they should have imo.

i remember not being able to find the main exit for Forest of Illusions and instead found the secret exit that leads me to a star road. Little did i know ,the star road takes me to Bowser castle, letting me beating the game quickly

I think I used the Retroarch BSNES core. It's been awhile since I recorded this. But any SNES emulator should play it fine.
