In America we use coriander to refer to the seeds, either whole or ground.
I didn't know that Coriander was the seeds of the Cilantro plant... I learned something new today....
@@Sunlilycos2368Haha I learned this later in life too don’t worry
French : coriandre, español : cilantro también
@@Sunlilycos2368I learned something new today! Thanx!
cilantro is just the spanish word for it and america has huge spanish influence, same for garbanzo beans instead of chickpea
In fairness we do also call them ice pops
No tf we don't
lol no tf
@@jalapeno1119 different parts of America i live in indiana tho and we call them Popsicles
I’ve always called them ice pops since I was little, because people make fun of my random southern-esc accent when I say popsicles :,)
lol, I call them ice blocks🤣
Gosh I love this woman so much. She’s such a sweetheart
who is she?
@@Edna4life1 Nicola Coughlan. She’s in Bridgerton.
except all the "skits" like she does are food related. We get ur fat and like food and dont care
My niece used to call them "hopa-sicles" instead of pop-sicles and it was the cutest thing!
i called them popascles when i was younger
That’s lame.
Ok..tell your nice hopa-sicles is cuter…and its gonna be the official name. ❤😂
When I was younger I always pronounced it pop-stick-le! Took me years to figure out that wasn’t the correct pronunciation

lol her little ASMR tapping on the jar
I KNOWWW lmao i kinda loved that but was also like oh no, everyone’s gonna start tapping on EVERYTHING now
Oh this comment. I found my people 🎉😊
The little giggle she did when opening the popsicle was the cutest thing 🥰
She has such pretty features. I love her hair and eyes
She reminds me of Melissa McCarthy with her smile and dimples who I also think is absolutely gorgeous!!!
She so adorable😭 "closh"
That s how it s pronouced

Ice pops are also accurate
freeze pops
She's the best, I could watch an hour of this
Loved her in Derry Girls! I really wish there was at least one more season..
She is sweet when speaking
I love her voice!! 🩵
Ah yeah, popsicle is a cute word. We might even say it's the word of the day.

I love nicola coughlan soooo much!!! Beautiful, fun, and just an all-out gorgeous person ❤
Yeeees
gahhh same i love her. what a lovely lady
WAIT CORIANDER IS JUST CILANTRO
No, cilantro is just coriander
In the U.S. we mean the seeds when we say coriander, and the plant when we say cilantro
cilantro is spanish for coriander, and cilantro entered the american market through mexican cooking :)
she's so pretty
Coriander is the seeds of the cilantro plant in the USA.
Not entirely. They're also just called Cilantro seeds
@@mrfancygoatinteresting. I've never heard them referred to as "cilantro seeds."
@@mrfancygoat If you go to the spice & herb section of an American supermarket they are only called coriander, never cilantro seeds.
In the plant & seed section of of hardware and big box stores they will be marked as "cilantro seeds" for planting to grow cilantro plants.
No coriander seeds are coriander seeds
@@hellcat19832 Wrong. Coriander seeds and cilantro are both parts of the Coriandrum sativum plant, but they have different names and uses depending on the region where they are grown and used.
Just google it.
Some people do call them ice pops in the US, just depends what part
all states have their own way of sayings. pretty cool
I just call it a icce
In my brain, popsicle makes sense cuz its like an icicle that goes/"pops" up 😅
I can't get enough of Nicola Coughlin.
Ice pop is also accepted!
Gherkins are said depending on the type of pickle.
She’s so cute
True
When the Irish do it is nice, and kind of adorable. When the British do it, it’s condescending and mean spirited.
yeah bc irish ppl are cool and british ppl stink
she’s so gorgeous
😮
I love this actress so much. I also like this interview compared to millie bobby brown's interview. The vibe is different and she is so humble about the differences of how things are pronounced lol 😂❤
Why are we comparing?
Millie is a 20 year old girl who’s been relentlessly bullied since she was a child because she’s “too much” and still gets bullied because of her accent, you don’t need to compare her to a 30 something year old woman.
Right, this one is much more refreshing and I don't feel like swiping away instantly
@@Partyhatpossumand she was rightfully bullied 😊
Totally love her too but the comparison was not necessary or kind.
She is a queen
In India we also called it coriander 😂😂
cause india was a british colony
Because of ✨colonization✨
No dhaniya lol
both colonised by Brits :///
“What is she” oh so she’s one of us
Gherkins are a specific type of pickle
I love when people don’t insult other countries for something stupid like what they call certain things, MILLIE

'Millie' is a female chav in some parts of the north of Ireland...;)

“ice pop” is the generic-that’s what cooking magazines will call their recipes

Some people say ice pop in America
she is glowing
She has an Adele like aesthetic
We call them both ice pops and popsicles!💜
We also call them ice pops so she was right

Ice pop is sort of a thing
ice lolly makes sense, actually
Ice pop makes sense though
I love her in bridgerton. She's such a good actress
Ice lolly is 🥰🥰
They should’ve given it to her for the ice pop!
Finally someone that doesn’t make fun of how Americans say it.
I know 😭😭😭😭
For real!! 😖
People do it to eachother sadly both America and Britain seem to constantly mock eachother .. funny enough I actually like some words more in America than I do here in England but always get shouted at for using the “American style” of wording 😂
I’m Australian, here’s what I call them
1. Coriander
2. Ice block usually
3. Pickles
Why do you call it an ice block when it's not in block form
Wait. Coriander and cilantro are the same thing?
In the US generally refer to coriander as the spice seed, and cilantro as the herb plant
Coriander is the seed, cilantro are the leaves and stems. Same plant, but different things; and “Popsicle” is a brand name - one of the many that has genericized over time. Much like Band-Aid, or Dumpster.
Yeah but cultural and regional differences make it one where English was not the main language and imposed with colonial rule
They're called popsicles bc the person (a kid I believe) who created them was drinking soda, or pop as it's known regionally. At the time you would stir syrup into water to create the soda/pop (popsicles were invented by a person who called 'soda' "pop"). The inventor left the pop with a tongue depressor out overnight and it froze, in the morning he had a new treat
Popsicle is a brand name?!? I never knew this. We also don’t call them popsicles where I live though - we have many names for them and the only brand related ones I know are ‘freezies’ or ‘mr freeze’
I thought gherkins were small types of pickles. Like miniature
I think that's a cornichon
Gherkins and Pickles are both the same thing- a pickled cucumber :D
They are
She's genuinely a ray of sunshine
We say corriender in india too
cause we were colonized by the english but good to know UK standard is being changed to bharat standard like the new shoe sizes
@@seratoninny yes the current government is helping bharat build its own indentity WHICH IS SOOO needed now tbh we've been waiting on it for too long

bc of this, i binge-watched all nicole’s shorts. i adore her
I LOVE THIS WOMAN. SHE PLAYS SUCH AN AMAZING ROLE !
She is just the cutest person ever, she is pure sunshine 🥰 I always feel so happy watching her clips! lol
In Canada, the small pickles are named gherkins and the rest are pickles
That lip color is sooooo flattering on her!!!
Popsicle origin story: The inventor left his juice outside on the porch, with a stir stick left in the cup. Come morning it was frozen, and he had discovered a new frosty treat.
In adulthood he would recreate the porch blunder turned dessert for his family. His child affectionately referred to the treat as a popsicle: pop, icicle.
Nice story, but the Iranians used to mix snow with fruit juice millenia ago

Ice pop is technically correct
Gherkins and Pickles are two completely different things. In the US, when you buy gherkins, they are smaller and sweeter than pickles.
pickle is pickle 😂
